Joining The National Honor Society

The two defining moments in my scholarly life that define what my character consists of are the months as a coach for the U-9 R.I.S.C. Takers Soccer team as well as my trip to the village of Cuajiniquil, Costa Rica with the National Geographic summer community service program. Both of these instances have taught me valuable life lessons, including my responsibility as a role model for young children, the importance of giving back to our community, and the acceptance of other cultures, practices, and behaviors. This is what make me who I am and a very qualified candidate for the title of National Honor Society Member.

I am privileged to be one of the remarkable students qualified to join Eureka High School’s National Honor Society. I have been looking forward to applying to this organization as it provides influential help in our society. I would be privileged to join this distinguished association because it would provide me with opportunities to get involved in my community. As a hardworking, helpful, and friendly individual, I feel that I would make an auxiliary member to this organization. I demonstrate the qualities that are necessary to join this prestigious society, including leadership, character, scholarship, and service.

The National Honor Society is for high school seniors who have “demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character”. At John Marshall we really push the “service” area. There are so many different reason I wanted to be a part of NHS; It gives me satisfaction that I was able to become a member of such an elite society, it also is very rewarding to give back to a community that has done so much for me. Each service project I have volunteered at has taught me something different. Since July, I have volunteered at eleven different projects (over 32 hours), and I have learned something new every time. When I volunteered at the Marshall County Family Resource Network’s gift packaging for teenagers at Cameron High and Middle, Moundsville Middle, Sherrard Middle and John Marshall High Schools, I didn’t realize there were so many of my peers in need of simple hygiene products. It inspired me to help and give back to them by donating to Paws for a Cause at John

​If you were to ​elect me to be a National Honor Society officer, I would accept the responsibility with much humility and gratitude. As an officer, I will ensure that every student involved in the organization has the best experience possible. I will also provide great leadership skills, teamwork abilities, and an overall prestigious character to the role of an officer. Not only do I take pride in our school and NHS, I also take pride in being a leader and role model to my peers. Conclusively, granted that I posses the experience and knowledge that is necessary to uphold such a position, I would make an exceptional officer for the National Honor

I am writing in response to the letter that I have received to apply for the National Honor Society, and I am interested in becoming a member. NHS was first brought to my attention my freshman year, through peers and some teachers who would talk about all of the good outcomes and opportunities that can come about from being a member. From that point on, that has been my goal. I have worked as hard as I could to get up to where I am today.

Although I have only been in National Honors Society since last spring, I believe I have nevertheless demonstrated the kind of commitment to the community that NHS members exemplify. Throughout high school, I have been involved in many school-related and independent charitable activities. I have participated for the past three years in the annual Feed My Starving Children food packing event at the high school, one year staying late to seal the 300,000th meal so we could reach our goal. I have volunteered for Osceola Public Library on numerous occasions, and I have also volunteered for the Books for Africa and Operation Christmas charities.

Being the Vice President of the National Honor Society (NHS), it was of paramount importance for me to present the benefits of not only being a member of the National Honor Society but to present all of the opportunities available from being a member as well. We are proud to inform you that you have been identified as being academically eligible for consideration for membership to the National Honor Society. Eligibility is determined by your cumulative grade point average, which must meet or exceed our chapter’s standard for scholarship -currently a cumulative GPA of 3.0, as well as a minimum of 30 service hours. You have met these criteria and can be proud of this personal achievement. This is the first step in the selection process.

Acceptance into the National Honor Society of Petrides would be a great honor for me. The National Honor Society in Petrides will allow me to connect with likeminded people in the school who have portrayed similar scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship as I have. I have shown my leadership qualities through school events and volunteer work. Service to the school is one of biggest focus of the National Honor Society which I have always been content to participate in. The three amazing years at Petrides, I have served the school by aiding and tutoring students that have needed help academically; while participating in school events and teams showing school pride.

The National Honor Society (NHS) is a longstanding nationwide organization that provides students, such as myself, an opportunity to be recognized for their outstanding scholarship, character, leadership, and service. The organization allows for students to excel outside of the classroom through many activities. It provides students, actively involved in the NHS, an opportunity to positively affect the lives of others through the various community service activities that are organized throughout the school year. The NHS will also function as an outlet to network with my fellow peers and teachers who are like-minded in the pursuit of success.

The National Honors Society allows students to be build and create traits that are essential in a successful adult. I truly believe that hold many of these traits and joining the National Honor Society will grant me the opportunity to expand on these traits and grow as a person. Thus far I have focus greatly on the scholarship aspect of NHS and have been dedicated to my academics. I have held my GPA above 4.0 and have always been devoted to maintaining that high level of academic success. The skills I have shown in devoting myself to my academics can be easily translated into my dedication for the other aspects of leadership, service and character. The National Honors Society (NHS) is a group in which leadership, teamwork, and motivation skills are all developed, among a collection of other characteristics through various service projects. Granted these are the benefits listed on the website and not known to me through personal experience, I am certain that being apart of NHS would be beneficial to my life in preparing to enter the real, independent world and head off to college within the next few years. As a soft-spoken scholar, NHS would provide a way for me to familiarize myself in a collaborative and teamwork-filled setting that could better prepare me for jobs, as well as it would teach me to be a leader, and push me into the world to help and think about others rather than just

After the induction ceremony, I came before my mom, both of us smiling. Words were not necessary for me to know that my mom was proud of me. Being in National Honor Society was something that did not just made my parents proud, but it made me proud of myself. The honor of being in the club is not the only reason why the club is so valuable for me. It is the experience that I get form interacting and working with students from other grade levels that really inspires me. The club meetings and activities allow me to meet amazing individuals that I might have never had the opportunity to meet. Everyday, countless amounts of people are working hard, trying to change the world for the better. They are researching cures for cancer or taking twelve hour shifts to help keep oceans clean. There are people who are working towards a better world, and making life safe for the children in need, the animals in danger, and the men fighting for our country. Seeing these changes happen has motivated me to want to be a part of these developments. I wish to serve those around me, and believe that if I can have a positive impact on my community, it can affect the rest of the world. Therefore, I have made it my goal to be a part of the National Honor Society, in hopes that I can help my school, Middleville, and all who have impacted me. I believe that I represent the characteristics of scholarship, leadership, service, and character, and hope to use these qualities so that others may benefit.

I am extremely honored to be considered in being in the National Honor Society. I believe that this organization helps a lot within communities and keeping grades up. That is why I believe I should be a member. I know how to keep my grades at the highest they can be, which in my case is a 4.0. I am also largely active within my community and school. I play softball for my high school and hope to be a captain this year since I am now an upperclassman. I also enjoy helping within my community doing things such as work, clubs, and travel softball.
