Who was he?
 Jonathan James was the first juvenile incarcerated for cybercrime in the United States  Born December 12, 1983  A south Florida native  Died May 18, 2008  Went by the hacker alias: c0mrade http://www.tenorama.com/en/ranking/top-10most-infamous-hackers What did he do?
 James gained notoriety for a number of attacks on high-profile organizations including:  NASA  Defense Threat Reduction Agency  BellSouth  Miami-Dade school system
NASA Hack
 On June 29 and 30, 1999, c0mrade gained access to NASA’s systems by breaking the password of a server located at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama.  He was able to download software and data with an estimated value of $1.7 million  NASA incurred a loss of …show more content…

 He was transported to a federal prison in Alabama by the U.S. Marshalls Service to serve six months in prison.  After serving his time, he returned home to Florida.
Another Hack?
 On January 17, 2007, TJX, the department store chain, was the victim of a large scale intrusion that compromised the personal and credit card information of millions of customers.  The attack was linked to a group of hackers called ShadowCrew, lead by Alberto Gonzalez.  They were also credited with hacks on:  BJ’s Wholesale Club  Boston Market  Sports Authority  Office Max  And more..  James was known to be friends with many members of ShadowCrew and quickly became the subject of investigation
Another investigation
 James denied having any part in the hacks, but was still investigated by the Secret Service.  Again, his home was raided by the authorities in addition to his brother’s home and his girlfriend’s home.  The investigation yielded nothing to link James to the intrusion but left him feeling depressed
