C.S. Lewis once wrote, “Joy... (in my sense), has indeed one characteristic, and one only, in common with them; the fact that anyone who has experienced it will want it again”. There are many examples of joy such as; a mother and father experiencing the birth of their children, a child enjoying the wonders of the ocean for the first time in their life, something as simple as a person completing a project. Joy to one person might be a source or an object while to another it can be an emotion or feeling. Joy means to have profound happiness, discovering peace, and to savor every passing moment that life has to offer. Happiness is an emotion. It is to be free, to laugh, to enjoy the little things in life, and to love. Happiness is not something
Happiness is not something that only lucky people come across, but rather, happiness is uncovered through a positive mindset and an optimistic outlook on life. People who take the time to appreciate the little things in life and view
Happiness is a key to everybodys life. Even the most depressed man on earth has a little happiness deep down inside. Its what keeps us striving to fulfil our needs and wants on an everyday basis. There is not one kid who does not get excited over a dollar to spend at the candy shop. What about the feeling of getting a promotion at your job, or even finding the cure for cancer. Being happy is not just healthy, but it is also rewarding for each and every individual. We strive to find anything that will turn a bad day to a good one. Individuals will compromise to attain their happiness. You can not get what you want without giving something first.
According to the Dictionary, “happiness is the mental or emotional state of well being which can be defined by others. A pleasurable or satisfying experience.”. Of course that’s true, the feeling of happiness is what it’s scientifically defined as, but happiness is much more than that. Happiness could be a certain sound, a smell, even feeling a certain piece of clothing or a thick warm blanket. People spend hours even years trying to work for what they think is happiness. They work for hours to get large amounts of money, but they never find the happiness their looking for. That’s because happiness isn't materialistic, happiness isn't something you can buy with expensive items. Even though some people believe you can buy happiness, that’s
Everyone has their own way to find happiness. As it is a feeling, each of us has our own range and different definitions about this term. We know that there are many joyful things
What is happiness? This can be answered differently for each person. In my mind I find happiness in many ways. Some people find happiness by playing sports, others find happiness through animals or even through themselves. I can find happiness through many things but some stand out such as good news, decisions, and being grateful.
Happiness, what is happiness? Is it a person? A thing? Or does it something much greater than that. In the dictionary happiness is the state of being happy. Every person has a different idea on what happiness is. It doesn’t have to be just one simple thing, it could be an abundant of things together that creates happiness. Being happy and having happiness are one in the same but then again are different. Being happy is just being pleased at one thing at one time, being happy is an emotion, but having happiness is much more, it's a lifestyle.
Happiness is what all human beings/rational beings desire. It is always the end (goal) of our activities, it is an unconditional good.
Happiness means different things to different people and for this reason, I believe that the definition varies from person to person. As with most things, your personal health and inner thoughts such as your desires play a role in your emotional state. On the other hand, some people falsely believe that things (money, a large house, high paying job, etc.) will bring about happiness. This is when the line between true happiness and temporary bliss blur, which is why many people spend their lives searching for happiness without success.
Happiness is enjoying, showing, or marked by pleasure, satisfaction, or joy. A Person can choose to be happy due to of personal self-control, and a person’s past experience.
The Project Director presented a definition of joy by Sonya Romer who defines joy as a spiritual and mental feeling of happiness expressed in laughter and dancing. Furthermore, the Project Director reiterated that joy was defined as an attitude of feeling the presence of love for self and others. Joy was also a feeling of inner peace and the ability to give and receive love. Joy was a stable gratitude of compassion in feeling a connection to your inner spiritual soul. The session then shifted to the biblical aspects of
Joy, a great feeling of pleasure and happiness, is a common thing in people’s lives that is given by one set thing. Each person has a different way of feeling joy and who or what is given to them to bring them joy. Joy is an emotion to which is given by a state of delight.
In my opinion, Joy is one of those deep satisfactory feelings, that spontaneously arise from our interior. I think it is possible to cultivate it as well; when one smiles, has good thoughts about life and others, fills their soul with hope and gratitude, joy will grow in one’s heart as a result. Despite the fact that it has an abstract meaning, joy can be seen physically manifested. People who are joyous, look like spring flowers, not exited, but deeply happy, peaceful, and grateful. This state of well-being has very different origins and manifestations, depending on beliefs and feelings.
Life is found to be more favorable if one can ascertain the asymmetry between joy and happiness. Happiness is ephemeral, circumstantial, and fleeting while joy is abiding, continual, and everlasting. Joy is seen in many; the glimmer in a child’s innocent eyes, the aging countenance of a widow, the glistening faces of newlyweds, and even the mildly destitute seen roaming around the moonlit empty street corners. Everyone is accountable in safeguarding their own personal joy. As a learned emanation, joy is an aura that everyone is adept to possess, whether it is suppressed and hidden, or it radiates from within. Joy is cultivated through experience and definition and is an orientation of the soul that grants perpetual hope.
While, many of us think of Joy as happiness, happiness is a not a mindset. Joy is a choice, and a mindset. Joy is an attitude and has to be wanted. An example of this is mentioned in “Choose Joy” by Kay Warren, where she states that a person experiences as much joy as they choose to. In the situations people experience in their lives, they can either choose to have joy in those times, and be thankful and rejoice in the position they are put in, or have a mindset that they won't get through the hard, and focus on the negatives in life instead. Joy is a mindset of positivity and optimism. Joseph Campbell also addresses the mindset of Joy “We cannot cure the world of sorrows, but we can choose to live in joy.” People have the choice to choose joy. Happiness; however, is something people can not choose to be,
Happiness is a very broad yet complex topic to discuss. While most people try to explain happiness with philosophy, I will be writing more about the medical and scientific aspect of happiness. There are two schools of thought on happiness, first one being social happiness and the second one being solitary happiness with me learning towards the former over the ladder. Medically, happiness comes down to a handful of chemicals (also called neurotransmitters) in the brain and if you are happy or not it comes down to the levels of these chemicals in the brain.
