1.0 INTRODUCTION
Landlord–tenant law is a part of the common law that details the rights and duties of landlords and tenants. It includes elements of both real property law and contract law.
Modern landlord‐tenant law includes a number of other rights and duties held by both landlords and tenants.
The relationship of landlord and tenant arises where one person, who possesses either a freehold or leasehold property interest expressly or impliedly grants to another, an estate in that property which is less than the freehold interest or for a shorter duration than the leasehold interest of the grantor, as the case may be. Home—the place that gives off a sense of warmth, comfort, and belonging. Home is where loved ones are and memories transpire, however Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines it as “one’s place of residence.” Is this what the meaning of home has become today? Does home really allow one’s true self to shine through? In the past these presumptions held true to most of the population, but today people consider vacation homes, condos, and apartments a home when in reality they are very transient. In the 1800’s homes were built by the men of the house for the family to live in forever. Some homes do still meet this historical criteria, but today the majority differ greatly.
In the book The Prehistory of Home Jerry Moore discusses the importance that home structures have had for humans over time in different places of the world. He says that “In addition to their basic and fundamental function of providing shelter from natural elements, dwellings are powerful and complex concentrates of human existence… our dwellings reflect and shape our lives” (Moore, 3). He believes that homes are representations of the existence of individual humans as well as their surroundings. Jerry Moore is successful in explaining the importance of home in archaeology throughout history with colorful examples as well as a comparison of the importance of the home in the past to the importance of the home in the future.
