Katniss Everdeen is a strong, independent teenager who went through extraordinary circumstances. She faced several arduous challenges throughout life and the Hunger Games. A few examples of the challenges she faces are trust, love, and poverty. These are not the only challenges she faced, but I feel these are the ones she struggled the most with. Trust is very hard when it comes to the Hunger Games. Katniss struggled to trust Peeta and the other competitors. She had to make alliances with the other players which does take more trust than anything else. She did not only have to trust the people around her, but she had to trust her instincts. She had no resources given to her in the Hunger Games. She had to find berries, drinking water, and
In YA literature, authors tend to rely on set roles in a society to denote their characters and their characters’ motives, falling back to these established precedents to convey the driving forces behind their actions. Some novels have their protagonists alter certain aspects of their character throughout the course of the book to further their personal objectives, either through a clear delineation of this new development or by using surrounding elements to indicate an implied change. In The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, the main protagonists’, Celia and Katniss, clothing are used as an outward representation of their changing roles in their respective current communities. Both characters also manipulate
In the film, The Hunger Games directed by Gary Ross shows the protagonist, Katniss Everdeen as a strong well-skilled District 12’s female tribute who carries hope along to survive in the arena among other tributes to rebel against an oppressive government control. Throughout the film we can see how Katniss gets motivated by her loved ones back at home as well as her District 12’s members. For instance, Katniss’s younger sister, Prim gives strength when she gives the mocking jay pin
A virtuous person (moral exemplar) is someone who sets a fine example and serves as a role model for the rest of us.
“Don't go,” Peeta told Katniss. Katniss knew she had to go. She knew she needed the bag and whatever was in it, but she couldn't stop thinking about Peeta’s words. Katniss secretly drugged Peeta to sleep and went to the Cornucopia to gather the stuff the sponsors had supplied. Do you let others make choices for you? Do you make them yourself? Both Katniss Everdeen from “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins and Ani Mells from “The Scourge” by Jennifer A. Nielsen make their own choices. Katniss and Ani are both going through hard times. Katniss has volunteered for her sister, Primrose, to be in the Hunger Games; To go into an arena, and fight 23 other kids, from ages 12-18 to the death. Ani’s Scourge test results come back positive, and she is sent to the Scourge colony: Attic Island. Ani, being hated by the Governor, is always at risk with her life. Katniss and Ani are independent. One reason is that they are both strong-willed. Another reason is that they both like to rebel the rules.
Katniss tells the readers, “Prim was thrilled to have her back, but I kept watching, waiting for her to disappear on us again. I didn’t trust her” (Collins 53). Katniss shows that she doesn’t trust people when stating this, not even her own mother, who is what this quote is talking about. This is also a key part of her personality that is altered because of the games, and what she experienced during them. During the Games, when talking to Rue, she states, “You know, they’re not the only ones who can form alliances” (Collins 200).
If I could trade places with any character in any book it would have to be Katniss Everdeen. She lives with her mother and little sister in district 12.She is also 16 years old.Although she is going through a rough time she tries to look at the brighter side of things. She has a huge heart and is very brave. As well as gentle and can be sensitive. She is very protective over her little sister Prim. She took Prim’s spot as a tribute for the 74th Hunger Games. That alone shows how much she loves her sister as well as how brave she is and what she would do for her family. That sounds like me, I would do anything for my family.Katniss is so different but so similar to me in so many ways. This is why I chose Katniss Everdeen and I would change places with her.
Katniss is the main character in the book “The Hunger Games”. Katniss is known for three things in the book: strength, sacrifice, and being a rebel. Her strength shows how her mind makes her a better “player”, and her physical strength allows her to complete the tasks. Katniss sacrificed herself to keep herself in the lead and also sacrificed her well-being to help other players. Katniss was a rebel, but Katniss doesn’t want to be a leader in a rebellion, and she’ll rebel against the capitol in other ways where she can’t get caught by the capitol.
Katniss Everdeen is one of the best heroes in modern mythology. “Katniss Everdeen. She is the hero we need.” (Kim, Daniel J). Katniss isn’t like other heroes in modern mythology. Heroes today are characterized by their aggression and dominance but not Katniss. Katniss is strong when she has to be, but deep inside she is truly scared. Joseph Cambell’s 17 stages monomyth is able to map out a hero’s journey and express the steps taken to become a hero. Katniss is a highly qualified hero and accomplishes several stages in becoming the true hero she is. She is loyal, but unsure of whether it is egocentric or selflessness. All heroes have self doubts during their journeys. Katniss is a hero because of her ability to love. She incorporates love

Katniss Everdeen is one of the most well rounded woman warriors of our generation. She is a small town girl from District 12, during the movie she survives The Hunger Games and turns a nation of slaves into an army. In The Hunger Games I believe Katniss sets a great example and represents what it means to be a woman warrior. Everything from putting her family first, to making sure she comes out on top, she never loses sight of why she’s really there. In The Hunger Games Katniss Everdeen goes from timid poor girl to smashes people’s expectations and comes out on top proving how much of a woman warrior she really is.
Katniss Everdeen is an adolescent girl who has been through a lot, emotionally and physically. She is not only a girl from District 12 but she is a girl who takes on challenges that she is not
The protagonist that had the most effective characterization from the pieces we read this year was Katniss from The Hunger Games. In the story, the character is portrayed as a girl who has lost a lot and has been hurt a lot so she has distanced herself and her hurt can be captured through her actions. As told in the story, Katniss witnessed her father’s death which makes her feel sad and mad. Katniss says, “My father knew and he taught me some before he was blown to bits in a mine explosion,” (Collins 4). Although Katniss’ father died in an accident, she blames him for leaving, explained from how she explains how her father died.
In conclusion, Katniss overcame many obstacles to win the Hunger Games. Before the games, she bravely took care of her family and volunteered for her sister Prim. During the games, she fought many obstacles. In the end, she beat the Capitol and President Snow at their own game. Katniss was the “girl on

In the novel The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, the main character and protagonist is 16 year old Katniss Everdeen, a strong and selfless young woman who is far more mature than her age suggests. As the main provider for her family after her father died, Katniss had to become responsible and resourceful at a young age, which forced her to participate in rebellious behavior in order to keep her family alive. She is an unselfish and protective character, putting herself in danger in order to keep the ones she loves safe, especially for her little sister Primrose.
