Out of the five factors given, priorities are most often my problem area. However, it is not for the reason that is listed in the book. My priorities are not out of order in the way that I only care about having a nice car, or buying a mansion. They are more out of order in the way that I put some of my mediocre responsibilities before the ones that are far more important. For example, I drink coffee every single day to get all of my work done efficiently. I know I should drink water, but my work is more of a priority than my health. Another example of my priority mic-up would be working on things for my internship rather than working on a recording project in my Music Production class. I think that that I am especially susceptible in that area because sometimes I like to get the fun things out of the way first and just spend a huge amount of time on the important things. I guess I am a binge-worker if you could put a name to it. 2. I would say that I do a little bit of both trying to …show more content…
In the beginning of my college career, I was hardly the student that I am today. There were many days that I would skip class just because I did not want to go, days that I would go to the bars instead of doing my assignments. I went through academic probation fall semester of my junior year and it was the definition of learning discipline. At that point, all I could think was “all of this money is going to nothing and my parents are going to kill me.” Needless to say, I straightened up very quickly. Since I have straightened up my academic act by disciplining myself, I am graduating a semester earlier than planned, have plenty of work to do, plenty of opportunities in the future, and confidence in my abilities to build sustaining professional relationships. It turns out that delaying gratification is actually tripling it! Now that I have worked as hard as I can to achieve my daily goals, I can reap the rewards of having a great time while working and
I believe that identifying different between the important and the urgent is a vital role to be success on life time management. This means that I usually think about what things require my immediate attention and action or they are more important to me. I think, sometimes
If I were to pick one academic "wake-up" call would during my 10th grade year where I barely made honor roll. Although I eventually made it though the year, I didn't achieve the goals I had set for myself. I learned a great skill from that moment on, time management. Managing so many things at once can be stressful but learning how to balance it all out in a given time is something I won't forget. Over the years I've grown more mature about my education and have learned to invest more time towards my future. I feel like I've come very far from when I started high-school, developing from a shy child to someone who is outgoing and can express themselves in the classroom as well as outside of school.
My two biggest time wasters that prohibit me from staying on task are my phone and sleeping.
Be sure to take all of these different aspects into consideration to apply to your
schoolwork. I get up during the week by 6:20 AM and get my daughter ready for school. After
The above was two of my strengths and two of my weaknesses: Interpersonal Awareness, Empathy. Time Management, Decision
I don’t feel like I am ready to pack my bags and leave for college today, I still have more to learn. The rigorous workload from multiple classes helped me learn proper time management. I am able to write essays in correct MLA format with confidence. I am more trusting in my own perceptions of things and do not feel I need to rely on outside sources. I have confidence in myself and don’t always need to validate my opinions in other people or sources. I feel that I have a firmer grasp of the curriculum as a whole and am a more hard working student than I was last year. A lot of this year consisted of independent work so I had to learn to rely on my self and not my teachers, which I’m aware, will pay off in college. No one is holding your hand and helping you through college, you get back what you put into it. My having to work independently and occasionally with peers has me well prepared for the
Ever since elementary school, academic success has come very easily to me; I breezed through first through eighth grades, gathering a multitude of All A Honor Roll Awards. In ninth grade, I began to have larger amounts of homework and had little time especially while juggling Lincoln Douglas Debate on top of it all.
As time went on, I had to be more realistic. I began to focus heavily on my grades and I took on intense academic classes.
Sometimes deciding priorities can be a daunting task. In The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, Stephen R. Covey wrote, “The key is not to prioritize what's on your schedule, but to schedule
How do you use your time? We all mean well at the beginning of each day, but somehow we get off track and waste so much of it. What stands in your way of using your time wisely?
Based on these guidelines, I have determined the top 5 priorities of the day as follows:
My own priorities closely match those of my brethren. A balance of work, study, and family are the cornerstones
Maintaining a balance between developing my academic and professional experiences held the highest priority to me. My school/work obligations were of high importance on the matrix. I found my work obligations, while important, frequently took away from my developmental opportunities such as focusing on my major. Work became a high urgency/high importance activity because I was being called into work when I was not scheduled. My low importance tasks consisted of managing personal relationships (low importance/high urgency) and hobbies (low importance/low urgency).
Balance your personal and professional priorities. Evaluate each dimension of your life separately---family, career, friends, hobbies---and identify the key priorities in each dimension. Learn the difference between what you need and what you want. Make sure that priorities from each dimension are at the top of your list.
