We spend thousands of dollars annually in providing medicine, treatment, spay and neuter surgeries, vaccinations and microchips for dogs and cats to help them on their journey towards a new home and life. Keeping them healthy, finding new homes or rescue partners to take them in requires much effort and determination on our part.
In order to answer my research question, I will first look at the background and history of the organization in order to see the strongpoints and how they go about their Mother Mentor-to-Mentee program for the HIV positive mothers. This will lead to the issues surrounding the women prior to seeking out the organization’s benefits, and
I have never heard of, or even thought of, blessing animals until I moved to the small Blue Ridge area of the North Georgia Mountains. Every year, there is a festival in downtown Blue Ridge, called Paws in the Park, put on by the local Humane Society and other local organizations. They have a variety of events including a 5K, a pet parade, rabies vaccinations or microchipping for your animals, a costume contest, and the blessing of the animals (“Paws in the Park”). I am a huge animal lover, especially for dogs, and an active Christian, thus the blessing of the animals intrigued me. So, my boyfriend and I, along with my senior dog, Samson, headed to the city park that Saturday morning. When we showed up I was relieved that it wasn’t as crowded as some other annual festivals in town. It wasn’t empty by any means, but it wasn’t overcrowded either. It was comfortably populated by animals and humans alike. There were mostly dogs and humans, however we saw a pig, adoptable cats and a couple alpacas. Most

Throughout history, animals have played an important role in the lives of humans. In 1860, Florence Nightingale commented on the positive impact of small animals on those with chronic illness (Nightingale, 1860/1969). Over 100 years have passed, and the human health benefits from exposure to pets, or companion animals, both psychological and physical, have been well-documented (Barker & Dawson, 1998). Halm (2008) suggests that animals play a crucial role in creating healing environments. Animal- assisted therapy generates physiological effects, psychological effects, and social effects.

The event was an opportunity for the employees of Brogan-Patrick to support the cause of providing a better life for stray and lost animals. By participating in the event and inviting local members, Brogan & Patrick Manufacturing Corp. could strengthen its relationship with the local community as well.
The Bakersfield SPCA is one of the smallest shelters within Bakersfield. They depend greatly on the community to help sponsor animals. This means that the community members, depending on the type of animal, will provide a starting kit which include food, bedding, and a scratching post to the adopters. The animals who were sponsor by the community are cats that are older or have been at the shelter longer than the rest. This is a form of trying to save as many animals as possible by defining the animal as a shelter “mascot” (3/28/2017). Which will give those animals
Founded in 2005, it is a non-profit shelter that takes in and cares for animals that have been abandoned, abused, neglected or homeless. They are also actively involved in promoting and educating people to be responsible pet owners and have regular adoption days, in which the potential pet owners are screened to ensure all the animals go to loving forever homes. Assistance can be provided by donating, adopting an animal or by volunteering.
The Feast of Saint Francis and Blessing of the Animals is hosted on October 1, which is happening 11-4
My first memory of my dog “Blade”, was awoken when I noticed a dog patiently waiting to jump into a truck in the parking lot. It made wish for the same boring days my father would take me to school after agonizing my dog as he patiently waited to jump into the truck as he slobbered and rubbed his wet nose on your hand. I made my first independent prayer in action as Catholics were encouraged to do to christ, about sending my dog to Heaven. This was a sad and beautiful feeling for me, as I have never prayed on my own about a loved-one that I really cared about. On thursday, the last day of Lent, I re-watched a film I made with my dog in it. It reminded me how hard it is to work with animals as actors, but I was truly elevated to have something to have evidence to remember him with, just like Catholics read scripture to appreciate
In the bustling tedious suburban lives we face daily it’s easy to forget the serene spell nature can cast upon you. In the majestic creatures of the world such as tigers, wolves, wolverines, etc. we reflect in the faces of our most loving and loyal companions. Bringing us closer to nature from the comfort of our living rooms our pets can be our happiness, sadness, our strength and the warm love we can come home to. Owning a pet is a rewarding feeling, it comes with its difficulties as well as its treats. There is a certain joy that comes from “growing” and living with a furry companion, one only found in the arms and embrace of a meow, a bark, a squeak, or a squawk etc.

Every shelter has at least one favorite pet that volunteers would take home if they could. Why not take out a small ad in a weekly publication and spotlight one animal per week? Or a mention
