The labeling needs for country of origin come under Australian consumer law. As per the law companies have a time period of two years to sell their stocks before this law would be mandatory on July, 1st, 2016. This information sketches the requirements of country of origin Food Standards Code. These requirements are different for packaged and unpackaged foods. The packaged food must consist of the information regarding the manufacturing country where food was grown and packaged. On the other hand, with unpackaged foods and meats, nuts and all other processed food such as dried tomatoes, fish fillets, dried apples, chicken and pork etc must require food of origin labeling. The food sold in café, restaurants and canteens are exempted from these labeling requirements. (Foodstandards.gov.au, 2016)

There are about more than 2% people in NSW are obese and has develop the risk of cancer and type 2 diabetes, because of these health concerns healthy meal is very crucial in order to keep body weight in control. So, healthy packaging was not providing any specific information about the nutritional values of food and neither marketing no claims on the food package nor nutrition information on the food items explain the true story of the exact nutritional value and can be sometimes intricate for the customer. (Cancer Council NSW, 2013)
Product is labeled on the rating of 0 to 5 depending on the amount of sodium, sugar and energy content of the particular item. Health star rating system is free and there is no fee in obtaining health star rating foe the food item. For instance health star rating gives the information regarding the comparison between two same processed packed food items such as between two muesli bars. (Healthstarrating.gov.au,
Packaging involves designing and producing the tin or bottle for a product. Packaging contains two levels. The primary packaging is the container for each individual product. For instance, A&W uses bottle with variety of sizes to fill the root beers. Plastic bottle can prevent leakage problem and can keep it once couldn’t finish it at once. The secondary packaging contains the quality of the product. A&W uses different colours and designs to wrap the bottle to differentiate the function of products. For example, white is for “Diet Root Beer with Cream Soda” and golden is for “Root Beer with Cream Soda”. The difference of packaging designs conveys the characteristics of the brand. Besides, this packaging can provide correct and useful information
Zinczencko complains that unlike many other hazardous items, fast food does not come with warnings on how terrible the food is for one’s health and its future effects. He emphasizes that even if the customers were able to obtain the nutritional facts, they are not palpable, but rather obscure. He points out that the fast-food companies make the nutrition labels vague and misleading; they calculate the calories for every separate part of the meal, and they make it so the consumer must pay attention to serving size as well. He observes that the fast-food industry can get away with confusing labels because there are not any Food and Drug Administration labeling requisites (Word Smart, p. 220) covering fast food. Zinczenko complains that there is not any sort of nutritional labeling on the menus at fast-food restaurants. Now, nine years later, there are some changes, but his point is still valid. McDonald’s menu now states the calories of each meal, but as Zinczenko points out, it is very difficult to
Many Nutritional experts know that what is written on the cover of the box is what the manufacturer wants you to read: ‘Low Calories’ or ‘No Sugar’ or ‘Fat-Free’ or ‘Diet’. All printed in big, bold, colorful lettering. Most of the time the product claims may be exaggerated, misleading and distracting and they only tell half the story. In reality, labels are a part of marketing strategy planned for attracting, promoting and motivating the consumer to buy. The back of the packaging can conflict the health claim made on the front of it. So the ‘Low Fat’ claim on the front does not necessarily mean low fat; it could just mean a bit less fat than the version that does not make such a claim. Many people in this discourse community know that reading the ingredients are just as important as reading the label.
Using material from Item A and elsewhere assess the view that crime and deviance are the product of labelling processes.
With having true genuine intentions in eating healthy people fall into the ideas advertised by cooperation’s that their products are healthy. Food corporations protect themselves through ingredient secrecy and even through the FDA because they are not required by law to disclose their ingredients; however, the chemicals used need to be considered by the FDA to be Generally Regarded As Safe (Schlosser 25). People should take responsibility in the research of the food products they consume; therefore, allowing an individual to be wise and informed of what their really consuming. Maybe, instead of cutting corners in trying to eat healthy with false idealistic advertisement consumers should consider eating fresh fruits, vegetables, and cooking ingredients. Consumers should like the author Pollan suggested in his rules of thumb: avoid food products unfamiliar, unpronounceable ingredients, and products containing more than five ingredients (Pollan
I believe that it is both to our benefit and disadvantage that we have groups and labels in our school. Groups can be a good thing because they provide security for students that don’t always get along or feel comfortable with all the other students in the school and can help them improve how they view themselves mentally. The disadvantage of having a school that has labels and groups is people discriminate groups. Also, sometimes students label other students in bad ways due to the group they are associated with or make untrue assumptions because they only see from their own perspective. The difficult thing about grouping and labeling in high school is that students gradually form groups all through junior high and sometimes they begin to

The Health Star Rating system was devised to address Australia’s health “epidemic” by encouraging consumers to make smarter choices when purchasing their food through the implementation of an interpretive labeling system (PriceWaterhouseCoopers, 2014, page 6). PriceWaterhouseCooper’s cost benefit analysis of the system outlines health trends and draws conclusions around the need for implementing such a system for the Australian food industry (PriceWaterhouseCoopers, page 6). According to the report, the benefits of a preventative system far outweigh the costs of focusing on treatment for those already diagnosed with obesity (PriceWaterhouseCoopers, page 4). Having an increasingly high percentage of overweight and obese people within our community has well-documented health implications, and also has a burdening effect on the economy. In 2008, the total
The article discusses the regulations of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) on health claims and structure/function claims of food products. It explains that the FDA approves a health claim that is supported by
When deciding what to eat for dinner, the nutritional value of food can be an important aspect of the decision. However, unlike grocery items and tobacco products, fast-food items do not require nutrition labels. Zinczenko emphasizes to his audience that the nutritional information, provided by the fast-food companies, can be confusing to understand:
When an individual become labeled as a criminal it becomes their "master status." " deviance is not a quality of the act the person commits, but rather a consequence of the application by others of rules and sanctions to an 'offender.' The deviant is one to whom that label has successfully been applied; deviant behavior is behavior that people so label" Howard S. Becker, (1963) Outsiders, (p.9). If you are labeled as a criminal, people do not consider all the good things you have done; they just see that you committed some type of a felony and are now a criminal. Once a person is labeled and judged by society it is very hard to get back to what they once had and people often have an identity change. This is a social
Furthermore, re-labeling is demonstrated with Javier, the father who decided to leave the family but wants to be reaccepted back to the inner circle. After the father has made the decision to leave the family, there has been a stigma and negative consequences with his actions that re-labeled Javier as a bad guy. Modeling is also associated by the mother, as she teaches her daughter and daughter-in-laws on how to prepare dinner and remind others of the negative circumstance due to the abandonment choice of their father. Privacy within the family is less accepted, as everyone is within close quarters and it becomes difficult to have independent time—such as the mother checking on her daughter and her boyfriend in the bathroom. An alliance
5.Being labeled for your actions carry a certain stigma or stereotype against you character? Even amongst individuals who know you personally? (Family, Friends)
For decades the Fast-food industry has supplied Americans with tasty, comforting food, quickly and at a low cost. It was not until recently, when the health craze first hit America in the late 1980’s that the corporations developed a new approach to marketing health food products to fit their customer’s wants (Nielsen). The most common fast food chains, such as McDonalds and Subway, started advertising “healthier” food items on their menus to continue appealing to the general public. While fast food restaurants give the impression of offering healthy food, nutritionist studies show healthy alternatives are not as nutritious as advertised and can lead to possible calorie underestimation and overconsumption (Chandon 85). In order to
"The naming of the product, service or company is called branding. A brand or name is the label that consumers associate with your product. For this reason, a brand or name should help communicate the product's positioning and its inherent drama for the consumer" (Roman G. Hiebing Jr and Scott W. Cooper; The successful marketing plan, a disciplined and comprehensive approach; 2003).
