The article “Carpentry program offers challenge to motivated students” inspires me the most compared to the article “Advice That Adds Insight to Injury”. The article clearly explains variety of works available for the graduates. It also gives a positive view to the readers who is still indecisive what type of program to enroll. Additionally, it emphasizes the program about what to learn and gain to enroll in carpentry. In fact, it gives an educational knowledge to the readers how the program works and the success they have had on their business. However, I would not change my choice of career even though these articles are very informative which inspires me to discover what it is like being a carpentry or the various options of the programs
I would most likely choose the career of brick masonry as my area of work. Brick layers can build plenty of things like buildings, houses,
This year of welding I learned how to weld in any positon and withanytipe of welding equipment . I also learned how to plan out a project and figure out the problems that I occurred during the project. Working on the new power drive trailer I learned that I can't let crow cur ant metal for me because then there is a two inch cap you have to fill when you try and put in place.
My selected article is Some Lessons From the Assembly Line by Andrew Braaksma. According to Andrew Braaksma having some experience in a real-world, this job setting helped him perceive the importance of education. He mentions that the lessons in his life that he learned were at the expense of others misfortunes. The individuals around him became the reason for his clarity and gratitude for the education he is receiving. The article's theme of the lessons that are learned through experience are well argued because the author incorporates challenges with the work-load the job came with, provides pros and cons of working at real world job, and mentally grasps the work ethic the factory taught him.
One of the lessons that were taught in “Seeking the Edge”, “The Bricklayer and The True Worth of an Individual”, which developed into my personal favorite, was the story about your Uncle Alfonse. He chooses to keep an experienced bricklayer that did quality work instead of letting him go due to financial reasons. Then Alfonse fired Tony, who did mediocre work but wanted a pay increase too. This was interesting since companies make this mistake of trading quality products for mediocre products just to save money. These types of stories make me think of Lionel Corporation in the late 1950s and into the late 1960s when they decided to save manufacturing costs and switched to composite train sets but with low-quality standards. If there are countless
When starting off in any degree program you find yourself having to take a few introduction classes. The weekend of April 17, 2015, was the best and most nerve racking weekend of my life. All of the carpentry skills I learned from the day I was born until now were about to be tested against fifteen other Career Centers in the State of Michigan. Skills USA is the event I was attending, which is an organization that puts the Skills of students to the test. It's not just one trade, it's all different kinds such as; Culinary, Cosmetology, Carpentry, Auto Mechanics, FFA (Future Farmers of America), and Law Enforcement. and these are just a few of the trades they test. For some trades there are a couple different categories. Carpentry has a team build for the second year students, and a single person build
The program I have chosen to study is the Carpentry Diploma. This program was chosen because I want to build houses and flats as a career. However eventually I would like to get into the property market and decrease start up cost by fixing up my own apartments and rent them out . The first step is becoming a qualified carpenter. I do have plans to go to university after I finish this course. I believe that going to university increases career choices. In life you need back up plans and there is always need for more knowledge. Having knowledge in one particular area only would make you oblivious to other factors. However at the same time you need to know whats beneficial for you and your future.
Is the reality of your career what you expected? If you knew then what you know now how would it have effected your decision?
The handicraft is a major part of the rich culture heritage of a country, state, city and district. This paper consider about the depletion of craft. The craft industry facing a number of problems such as literacy, education, finance, lack of modern technological skills and materials and the strength are the availability of cheap labour, use of local resources, low capital investment and unique craftsmanship in manufacturing the products. Specifically, Mr.Duong does not focus totally on the skills or knowledge but mainly on characteristics when recruiting workers. He believes that skills and knowledge can be learnt but not everyone is ethical and hard-working. As a result, Mr. Duong has created jobs for many poor and unemployed workers. Thus, 70% of workers lack of skills and experiences in footwear manufacturing, which Mr. Duong must organize many training programs before allowing them to work in the factory. On the other hand, since Nguyen Khang needs to improve the product quality and design so as to satisfy the high demand of foreign customers, the other 30% of skillful and well-trained workers would not be enough for the production. Therefore, he must find material suppliers to backup for this excess demand. Nevertheless, it would cost him more as many material suppliers charge much higher

As in other building trades, carpentry work is sometimes strenuous. Prolonged standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling are often necessary. Carpenters risk injury working with sharp or rough materials, using sharp tools and power equipment, and from slips or falls. Additionally, many carpenters work outdoors, which can be uncomfortable. Some carpenters change employers each time they finish a construction job. Others alternate between working for a contractor and working as contractors themselves on small jobs.
During the past twenty years, I’ve had multiple career changes in diverse fields. From Realtor to stay-at-home-mother, to entrepreneur and most currently, interior designer. My work has been both paid and unpaid, some more significant than others, but they have all been valuable stepping stones for where I am today.
The concept of craftsmanship has been known to us for centuries, however what defines a Craftsman is less clear. It is commonly understood that a craftsman works with his hands, and that this work is done to a high standard. We can however clarify what it means to be a craftsman by understanding the path he takes before he is seen as such.
