He regards that LeBron was the star of the Cavaliers’ win due to his ability to perform in critical situations. Powell conveys that “the sore-backed Andre Iguodala passed to Stephen Curry, who flipped it back to Iguodala, who went up for the layup. Or not, as the case would be. Sprinting five or six steps behind was that 6-foot-8 Erie Lackawanna freight train known as LeBron James. His strides got longer and faster, and now he was airborne, his eyes nearly even with the hoop. He blocked the shot, his hand pinning the ball to the backboard.” LeBron James’ chasedown block on Andre Iguodala who plays for the opposing Golden State Warriors was the turning point in the remaining moments of the NBA Finals. In my essay I was capable of demonstrating that based on his determination to bring the first championship to his hometown in 52 years, LeBron was able to pull off a miraculous play when the game was on the line. In order to accurately justify my position, I integrated LeBron James’ own reaction to winning the series by using, “When it was over--and it was clear that Cleveland had really won--James collapsed on the court and openly wept.” Numerous writers might view this quote as not being supportive enough to prove a point, but I found that the words “wept” really gave insight to just how meaningful winning this game was to LeBron. It supports how LeBron used all of his passion and effort into block Andre Iguodala’s layup to save the game for his team. This is shown in my explanation for this quote where I assessed that this game was very emotionally important to LeBron and he was willing to do anything in order to win the game. This idea of LeBron having passion behind his performance added depth to my

Lebron James, the first pick taken in this year’s draft, may be the prototype for an athlete having immediate fame and wealth by jumping straight to the NBA. Almost undoubtedly, he has set the bar for years to come. Before he even played in an actual NBA game, he already had his own commercial and shoe deals. When he was a senior in high school, ESPN and ESPN2 were already publicizing his regular season games whenever they had the chance. Amazingly, as a junior in high school, he was already being considered the next Michael Jordan (Broussard).

“I’m just a little kid from Akron”-LeBron James. Lebron James is one of the greatest basketball players to ever play the game and even at age thirty two he is still crushing the game. That is a big reason why he is my hero because he has always been a superstar from the start. At St.Vincent-St. Mary High School where LeBron went to highschool he led them on to win three Division III state championships. He was the first sophomore ever selected for USA Today All-USA First Team and then kept going from there to be named Parade magazine's High School Boys basketball Player of the Year and Gatorade Player of the Year in just his Junior year. He just kept getting better and better every year. His senior year he lead his team to the top national ranking and then went straight out of highschool to the NBA.
