Assumptions are often made about drugs; furthermore, assumptions about business are made almost as frequently. Often what seems obvious from any ideological perspective will become more complex upon further examination; in other words, the truth is nearly impossible to find if your faith is not in philosophical harmony with art, science, history and the truth as we best have knowledge of it today. Understanding the need for substantive discourse is an excellent first step towards finding the truth. The narrative about the medical inutility of marijuana has been unraveling for some time; however, drugs that have more in common with industrial waste are still likely to been seen as drugs that need to be regulated. The cost of banning drugs is …show more content…
If a person desires to behave unethically then it is hard to pinpoint what made the person behave unethically; thus, much speculation is done by people about whether someone had the right intentions or not. This is commonly seen in the rhetoric favored by some progressives, but it is something that any ideology which rides a person for a long enough time can lead to. Conservatives are typically more cautious about believing claims that people are evil, but the temptation to regulate nebulous boundaries is still there, and …show more content…
Gupta does not claim that cannabis use is something to discuss or make claims about with a lack of respect. Accordingly, we can see that there are people abusing the system that are not sick; notwithstanding, prohibition will be unlikely to aid in the prevention of civilizational collapse. Doing something in the national interest does not guarantee misdeeds, and doing something for commons sense or scientific reasons also does not mean a solution is incorrect. Nevertheless, even well–intentioned work within systems is unlikely to make it any less difficult to gauge the functional benefit of focusing on social issues.
Rationalizations for the necessity of using rational tools to get neatness on many matters related to drugs are abundant; however, neatness is not the same thing as truth. Rationality will use you as a tool because it wants neatness, not truth. This is mirrored by people who use rationality as a tool, and it may seem paradoxical; although, it is possible to recognize how it could be a better stance. In the same way, there usually seems to be something unexpected and wrong that comes up when humans try to prohibit
Former United States President Thomas Jefferson once declared, “Hemp is of first necessity to the wealth and protection of the country” (“Thomas Jefferson”). Unfortunately, many modern political leaders are not as enthusiastic as Jefferson regarding the beneficial uses of hemp and marijuana. Hemp, as well as marijuana, originates from the Cannabis plant. Surprisingly, marijuana dates all the way back to 2700 B.C.; where it is first mentioned in a Chinese herbal and is said to have many strong values. Regrettably, a majority of countries applied strict limitations on the substance by the late 1960’s. With those restrictions came harsh retributions involving sales and possession of the substance. As time passed, research of medicinal
The legalization of marijuana has been a hot topic in the media for many years now. There is a major divide in those who believe it should be legal, those who do not, and those who think it could be legal with modifications on the usage. The number of those who support the legalization of marijuana is on the rise with nearly 50% supporting recreational marijuana legalization, and 81% supporting marijuana legalization for medical treatment as of 2015 ("Public Support for Marijuana Legalization, 2015”). Marijuana should be legalized on a federal level because it is safer than alcohol, it will increase the economy, and there is an unfair criminalization of marijuana.
In 1545, the Spanish brought marijuana to the New World. It was introduced in Jamestown in 1611, where it became a major commercial crop grown as an innocent source of fiber (specifically, hemp). By 1927, the production and possession of marijuana had been outlawed throughout the United States, causing a prohibition that is still in effect 80 years later. Since then, the world has seen the violent rise of drug cartels and the high price of fighting illegal marijuana use (Narconon). Marijuana should be legalized because significant research shows that legalization will benefit our society socially and economically.
One of the primary focuses of America 's War on Drugs is the controversial drug Marijuana. Marijuana remains the most widely used illegal drug and stirs up constant debate everywhere. For thousands of years human beings have attempted to find ways to get passed the struggles of everyday life. With the pain of the world stopping people from enjoying simple pleasures, sometimes there is a need for help. Marijuana brings millions of people relief from pain flet on a day-to-day basis. This completely natural plant which previously helped so many people has puzzled the leaders of our nation for a long time. The effects of the drug on a individual level is what 's prevented the product from being legalized. Many issues involving this plant, like the speculation of it being a gateway drug, has put yet another block on its legalization. Even with the drugs known speculations, the benefit that it brings to the table most definitely out way its disadvantages. There is an intensive debate in society, today, about legalizing marijuana. Supporters of marijuana highlight that legalizing will not increase its consumption, and in fact will provide individuals with a legal choice. Opponents argue that legalizing marijuana will increase consumption, which would expose consumers to health risks as extreme as cancer. I believe marijuana should be legalized by the federal government. It is already being consumed in the society, and legalizing marijuana will facilitate monitoring its growth, usage, and help collect taxes. Marijuana has overwhelming support in the medical field as an alternate medicine. Also, marijuana will provide a legal alternative to individuals who rely on illegal and dangerous drugs, such as cocaine and heroin. Legalization will significantly reduce marijuana trafficking and curtail black market activities. Furthermore, legalizing will divert the cash stream from black markets to the states and the federal government, in the form of taxes. The additional revenue can be used to do additional research on

In this paper I discuss why Cannabis should not be liberated in the United States. My focus and concerns are to the harm Cannabis is bringing to society now a days. In the United States more people are being influenced and being in favor of this famous “Drug Addiction” causing by illusions as ignorance is taking over and affecting a nation that is role models to many other nations. Awareness of after effects of drugs are being hidden and taken for granted as people keep on living this irresponsible life not thinking of the future. In this paper, I will consider some information based on my side of the argument.
Recreational marijuana is legal in Washington, Oregon, California, Alaska, Colorado, Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, Nevada, and Washington D.C. Many bills have been brought forth in other states to legalize the substance. In October, 2017, 64% of Americans believed recreational marijuana should be legalized. The debate about legalizing recreational marijuana is argued from moral and economic standpoints. From a purely economic standpoint, the US should legalize recreational marijuana, because it would create many jobs, bring in more tax revenue, and would save tax dollars by keeping many out from being arrested.
The legalization of marijuana and other controlled substances is a highly discussed and controversial topic. Opponents have generally repeated arguments formed from long lasting government propaganda in the past, and proponents have been working tirelessly to break down those preconceptions. There are many arguments for and against the legalization of marijuana, and in many ways it is the same discussion that led to the end of prohibition. Generally, the opposing arguments are geared toward moral standards and focus on correlation as causation; the arguments for legalization are generally based on university studies and case studies from other countries and states that have already legalized marijuana. This essay will attempt to dispel the
Should the use of medical marijuana in Adolescent be legal? Marijuana, according to the “DEA/ Drug Scheduling” (n.d.), is classified as a Schedule I drug, which means “substance, or chemicals, are defined as drugs with no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse”. Marijuana usage is a topic that has been discussed for some time now but the recent medical and recreational legalization of this drug has brought about a new area of unchartered territory. The business industry will have to revise many of their employment and safety requirements. After viewing some current policies many businesses are likely to be forced to established new protocols for intra and inner state practices. There are many types of complications as to why the marijuana usage laws should stay at the federal level and not within the state.
If I said I have weed, what would your response be? Everyone will have a different response, but they will all fall under one of these categories: you will not care, you will want some, or you will be disgusted. Whatever your view may be right now, the idea of anyone being able to have weed on them legally could happen. There is much controversy on whether marijuana should be legalized in the United States. Some people want marijuana to be legalized for a variety of reasons: medical purposes, less people in jail, economic benefits, etc. Other people don’t want marijuana to be legalized for their own reasons: unknown health factors, teenagers getting their hands on it easier, a gateway to worse drugs, etc. However, not everyone knows about both sides of the argument. Therefore, they either just choose a side not considering the other factors or make no decision at all. There are many educated people on this subject matter who can explain each side if someone is not entirely sure on which side to take. Olga Khazan (2014) suggests that marijuana should be legalized and be made expensive due to recent statistics of viewpoints and economic advantages, while Jacquie Itsines (2016) argues that
The two-sided debate between embracing medical use of the drug through the therapeutic benefits and the link between cannabis and psychosis is explored. This issues also stems the question of the legitimacy of legalisation and criminalisation of cannabis and how key concepts are raised including ‘moral entrepreneur’ and ‘social locus’. In today’s society as cannabis is becoming increasingly ‘normalised’, the theory that cannabis is a ‘gateway drug’ also arises.
