All in all, steroids should not be considered a drug, but rather a vitamin, or supplement to boost athletes. Steroids should be made legal because they enhance athlete’s durability/resistance by breaking their records and being recognized more by people. I believe athletes should be able to utilize steroids as long as it is under the consent of a physician. Performance enhancing drugs must be made legal in professional sports. Professional athletes would not be given free reign of all the PEDs available in the world, but rather a new set of rules would be issued. The rules would allow athletes to meet or exceed their maximum abilities as humans while making it safer than the modern state. If made legal the potential results of PEDs would be tested and altered appropriately to create the safest, most impactful drugs; however, in the current situation professional athletes buy PEDs from sellers without pharmaceutical or sports medicine credentials. Performance enhancing drugs have the potential to develop super humans, and if made legal in professional sports, it would create the most talented and entertaining sporting events of all time.

Steroids should be banned from all sport activities! This is an important topic because athletes from all over the world haven been caught cheating by using performance enhancing drugs. By doing that they are not only disrespecting the sport they participate in but they are disrespecting the other athletes, and especially their own body because there are side effects of steroids use. Steroids have caused a lot of damage to athletes but not only them also the ones who consume it. People who tend to take steroids have been labeled as cheaters and cowards which is not a good reputation for anybody. Steroids have been a problem in sports for a very long time, all sports organizations have tried to stop the use of steroids but somehow people still manage to get away from it. The people who use steroids have an upper hand then everyone else, they can help with an athlete performance even with healing. Steroids should be banned from all competition not only just for the reason that it help people cheat the system but because it ruins a lot of people’s health by using these embarrassing drugs.

In Major League Baseball, numerous players have put up tremendous statistics and record breaking numbers. There are a great amount of players in the league that have done this naturally, however it is not uncommon to see star players get caught taking performance enhancing drugs or steroids. Steroid use in baseball has been an issue since the earliest days of the game, and can be seen very frequently in players today. Jose Canseco was a star hitter in the major leagues, who had admitted to steroid later in his career. Canseco once estimated that 85% of other players were also taking performance enhancing drugs. Though that estimate is not proven, there are still many players today that are taking these steroids, and it needs to remain an issue in the eyes of the MLB. Taking these drugs not only promotes the risk of significant side effects and health problems to the player consuming them, but it makes changes to the game itself as well. The way the game is being played has changed over time due to this issue, and players are receiving advantages that other players are not. Overall, these illegal drugs are unfair to other players in the game and simply are not safe, and should never become legal in the league.

Athletes that are in sports should not be allowed to consume steroids. Or if they are consuming steroids they should not be allowed to play sports. There are many unfair advantages of athletes that use steroids to make gain in a game they love to play. First, the use of steroids is cheating and it violates the rules and contracts athletes have agreed to. A player uses steroids to enhance his or her performance is illegal, so when a player uses them they are cheating. For example; Cheating is monitored today in sports by the use of referees or umpires. Referees and umpires cannot enforce steroid use because they have no way of telling if a player is on steroids or not they cannot be

“Why it’s time to legalize steroids in professional sports” written by Chris Smith of Forbes Magazine argues that to level the playing field of professional sports it would be beneficial to legalize the use of performance enhancing drugs. Mr. Smith’s ideals that professional sports would be a fairer, more entertaining version of itself if performance enhancing drugs were legal, is an incredibly irresponsible and impudent declaration.

Dick Butkus, a retired pro football hall of famer, stated, “There is a myth out there that somehow anabolic steroids can turn a cub into a bear. Steroids won’t make you tough and competitive. What they will do is ruin your health. It’s that simple,” on his opinion about the use of steroids. Although the stance against the use of performance enhancing drugs is clear to Dick, not everyone agrees on the topic. Many players, ranging in all sports at different levels, have used PEDs (Performance Enhancing Drugs) at least once in their career to better their abilities and performances. Some of those players have been caught and have been rightfully punished for their use; however, others get away with using PEDs and remain praised above their opposition. I believe that the use of performance enhancing drugs is wrong and should continue to be banned morally by the fans and legally by the commissioners. There are few positives to using PEDs, which ignite the urge for players to become better at their sport for fame, money, or success. Nonetheless, the negatives immensely outweigh the positives. The use of performance enhancing drugs creates detrimental health risks on athletes, changes the way sports were originally meant to be played for the worse, and shows unacceptable influence on fans and children.

As astounding as these figures are, the number of performance drug users is steadily increasing. With this progressively increasing numbers, it is projected that millions more will use steroids in the immediate future (Newer, 61). Athletes have always sought an advantage in competition even if ignoring the law and their health if necessary. Using drugs of any sort to facilitate an athlete’s athletic ability should be illegal. The use of performance enhancing drugs is not only detrimental to the user but it also creates an

competition. If steroids were to be completely eliminated from sports, the competition would be much more special because athletes would compete with their hearts and will, without an extra boost. Also, since not everybody can be a professional athlete, the elimination of steroid use, in my opinion, would make the fans appreciate the game more and make them feel more relatable. Hopefully someday, fans will be able to watch their favorite sports in such a fashion.

When people with any knowledge of sports think of some of the most iconic players, several were on steroids - Sammy Sosa, Alex Rodriguez, Lance Armstrong, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dwayne Bowe. These athletes are well known because they were arguably the best athletes in their game at the time they played. The baseball players on my list hit record amounts of home runs, but wouldn’t have without the use of PED’s. The reason PED’s are banned is because they are believed to cause long term health effects.This may be true, but only if they are taken improperly or in an excessive amount, but this goes for any medication. Also, people argue that PED’s give players who take them an unfair advantage over those who don’t, but if everyone was able to use them it would level the playing field. Imagine telling a model she or he is no longer to wear makeup in any of the photoshoots they do from here on out. Or, let’s tell the banks that they can no longer lend money to anyone who doesn’t already have the same amount sitting in the bank as collateral. That way no one can gain an unfair financial advantage in the world. You see, when fans watch their favorite teams or players they don’t want to see something normal, they want to see something that blows their mind - something extraordinary. In the past three decades, steroids has been becoming a serious problem more than ever in the athletic field. Steroids are anabolic drug "to build" growth hormones that include the androgens (male sex hormones) principally testosterone and estrogen and progestogens (female sex hormones). Steroids were first developed for medical purposes. They're used in controlling inflammation, strengthening weakened hearts, preventing conception, and alleviating symptoms of arthritis and asthma. Unfortunately research has shown that steroids have been abused in almost every kind of sport. Although steroids contribute to a muscular body, usage should remain illegal because they physically deteriorate and mentally destroy the body.
