The Native American myth “Rainbow Crow” originated from a tribe called the Lenni Lenape. The Lenni Lenape are also known as the Delaware Indians, or sometimes just Delaware. They are a typical Indian Tribe with their own ways of life. The Lenni Lenape are from the from the Northeastern woodlands in Canada and the United States. They lived in various states such as New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York. They also had other territories such as the Delaware River Watershed, Western Long Island, and the Lower Hudson Valley. The Cherokee are another Native American tribe. While the Oneida originated in the Northeastern United States, the Cherokee are known to come from the Southeastern United States. They had villages in the areas of Appalachia, Georgia, the Carolinas, and Tennessee. The Cherokee were different than other Indian tribes of that same Appalachia region. The Cherokee were tall rather than short and stocky and their language was very similar to the language of the Iroquois tribes in New York.
The Hopi Indians were from Northeastern Arizona. The tribe had a long and interesting history. The religion originates with Maasaw, who is the ancient caretaker of earth. They were based in central New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania. The tribe is closely related to the Unalachtigo tribe in dialect and traditions. Those nations are the Siksika Nation, the Kainai or Blood Nation, the Pikanii or Peigan Nation, and the Blackfeet Nation. The Blackfoot Indians are a nomadic American Indian tribe that migrated to the to Northwestern United States. The first three nations are in Alberta, Canada and the fourth nation is in Montana. Most Blackfoot people still live in this region today.

A large group known as the Cherokee Indians were recognized as a separate nation in 1791 by the United States government and therefore did not follow the same laws as the United States. The Cherokee were the last of the Native Americans to give up their land, and in 1819, they stopped ceding land all together. The Cherokee Indians faced great danger from this; however, when farmers began attacking the tribe and forcefully pushing them out of their land. In 1828, the government passed a law that declared all Cherokee Nation rights null and void. In 1829, when gold was discovered on Cherokee land, the government took immediate action, implementing strict policies claiming Indian land, and in 1830, the Indian Removal Act was put into effect (The Trail of
In 1788, Israel Ludlow, Matthias Denman, and Robert Patterson bought 800 acres of land from John Cleves Symmes along the Ohio River at the mouth of Licking River. John had purchased 2,000,000 acres of land from the Confederation Congress in 1787 and hoped to become rich by selling parts of the purchase to others. By early January 1789, Israel had planned out the town, dividing it into two types of lots. Israel, Matthias, and Robert provided the first 30 settlers with two free lots, one of each type. The men named the town Losantiville. The town grew slowly at first. Settlers had constructed twenty cabins and one frame house. Eleven families and two dozen single men lived on the land. Eventually it increased in size.

In the city of Longtown,Ohio,Founded by James Clemens,is a peaceful place where blacks and white did not discriminate each other, or at least it use to be. Now,the people of Longtown are fading from the world and White settlers are buying their land.Longtown was made by James Clemens,a freed slave from the state of Virginia, made this settlement so whites and blacks can live in harmony and peace together, but now that everyone is dying and settlers are buying their land, James’ great grandson,Connor Keiser, is trying to keep the way of life going or in other words Connor Keiser said,” We were the usual Longtown family. We all look different, and we were taught that color didn’t matter. As long as I have anything to do with it,Longtown
In days long when many non-whites were racially segregated , and/or discriminated, making a colored community was unthinkable. That was until one man named James Clemens, a freed slave, broke that barrier, and established Longtown Ohio. The uniqueness of the community, though, was that it was a sanctuary for many different races that were unfit for other communities. This was a place where many different races could interact with each other peacefully. If Riverside, or even our country as a whole had this type of ideology, then there is a likelihood that we would all live in harmony, and safety. It's time we take some ideas from Longtown, and apply them to our country/Riverside. An article published by The Washington Post, “ Ohio Town holds rare history: Races
