This letter is to express how thankful I am for being awarded the Margaretta Turpin Endowed Scholarship in Nursing. No amount of words can express my gratitude for your generous gift. With this gift I wil be able to continue to pursue my dream of becoming a nurse. A little about myself, I am from Sugar Land, TX, and I am the first in my family to graduate high school and attend a university. What led me to pursue a career in nursing was my youngest sister. She was born prematurely and with several health issues that would affect her for the rest of her life. She spent half of her childhood coming in and out from Texas Children’s Hospital, so I grew up surrounded by nurses. Witnessign those nurses help my sister get her to where she is now inspired me to choose a path that wold allow me to do the same for other children. …show more content…
The hands on experience I get in the classrooms is incredibly fun. I am enjoying learning skills that will be of value to me for the rest of my career. Whats’s more exciting is having the opportunity to put those skill to practice in the hospital with patients. So much knowledge is gained from interacting with the nurses and pateitns, something that can’t be learned in a classroom. Another aspect of the nursing program I enjoy is working with my fellow peers. The nursing program has a small group of people which allows us to become close. We struggle, cry and succeed together. It feels like I am part of a family we area learning together and learning from each other as
Born in the then small town of Auburn, Alabama. I was the youngest of two children to Annie and Jesse Reese. Raised in a middle-class family, my parents were both respective social workers in the Lee and Montgomery county area. I speculate that my desire to help others was ultimately inbred in me by my parents as they devoted their lives on a daily basis to improve the lives of others. As I became older, I knew that I wanted to serve others, but it took some time to establish how. I juggled between numerous careers: teacher, lawyer, doctor, however; in my senior year of high school, I discovered where my true passion lied, nursing.
Being a nurse is more than what meets the eye, it’s not just poking or prodding people with needles. It’s all of the relationships built within, the compassion that comes with caring so deeply for others. I have visited the children’s hospital quite a few times in my 17 years of life,

As a recipient of the Betsy Caughlin Donnelly Endowed Scholarship, I personally wanted to say thank you so much for your contribution to the University of Nevada, Reno and for the scholarship that you have provided for me.
I am writing this letter to thank you from the bottom of my heart for granting me the Robert A. and Mary Neal Culver Scholarship. I have been working very hard throughout my college experience and receiving this scholarship is truly a blessing and a reminder of how my hard work has paid off. The extra money will help pay off my tuition for next year which will greatly help ease the stress about paying for my junior year, and my mother and I are truly thankful for having the extra help. I will continue to work hard and achieve all my goals on the next couple of years, and I will never give up on my dreams and aspirations. Thank you for being a part of my success, and just know that your help is truly valued.
I wanted to take the time to express my gratitude for being a recipient of the Mary A. and Frank J. Hren Memorial Endowed Scholarship. I am grateful for the financial opportunity this award has provided me. Attending Carlow University has been a dream that I would have never thought would be possible. Because of your scholarship, I am now in my second semester of the RN to BSN program.
I am also a cheer coach for children, ages eight to ten, which has taught me how to treat little ones. I want to be able to make children feel comfortable and safe when they're at the doctors. I want them to feel as if there is always someone there that can help them no matter the severity of the problem. I have always taken a pleasure in meeting new people and I know being a nurse will guarantee that. Being in healthcare, I will be able to interact with all different types of people everyday. Working at Rita's during the summer has given the chance to engage with people that I have never met. I was relate to adapt so quickly with customers and coworkers and I feel like I have become a more open person. Having the opportunity to work with more people on a daily basis would teach me countless valuable life
I take this time to express appreciation for the $500 scholarship that has been given for my to pursue a higher education. With both parents being 1st generation college graduates receiving their bachelors degree with having to providing for four children I saw them as the ultimate example of knowing the importance of going to college. Being the oldest child they wanted to instill the importance of continuing on to college. With being apart of a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints I was taught the importance of staying out of debt hence the reason I applied for this scholarship. I
Ever since I graduated Luna National High School in 1987, I always wanted to be a nurse. Due to the high living expenses in the Philippines, I was not able to go to nursing school . It was expensive and my family was not able to make enough money to put me through nursing school. My sister was able to put me through college for an education degree instead because it much more inexpensive than nursing. In time, I moved to Honolulu,
I like the aspect that I got to in a way be apart of that even though if it were giving water to a patient or restocking supplies, I know that even the smallest things help out the patients and the overall healthcare facility in providing the best care for their patients. Furthermore, I liked how patients would ask if I was a nurse already. Overall I liked the experience that the medical field provided for me I got to see almost every aspect of healthcare, from nursing to surgery, or providing medical care such as therapy. I even got to experience health management, before going into the clinical rotations I did not know that the medical field
As a first-generation Mexican American, I am a product of two cultures melded into one. Since my parents were raised in Mexico they never finish their education and had to work at a young age to support their family. Growing up, my parents would share stories of their childhood that contrast the life in the United States to Mexico. So, when they were given the opportunity to move to the United States, they took that as a sign to bring a better life for them and their family. Understanding the obstacles my parents had to overcome to raise me in a better environment motivated to pursue an education. I’ve known since I was a teenager that the educational path and career choice I want to pursue is nursing. As a nurse, my goal is to contribute to society and sharing my competence, commitment, and compassion to others whether is my coworkers or patients.
My Future Goal of Becoming a Registered Nurse From a very young age, I was fascinated by hospitals and everything that went on in them. I remember when I was little, visiting my Grandpa in the hospital and just being amazed by all the commotion in the halls, the beeps of the machines and the compassion my Grandpa’s nurse had while caring for him. It was then that I knew, I would become a nurse. 3 years ago, I had the privilege of attending the birth of my nephew.
Becoming a nurse has always been an aspiration of mine, I’ve always wanted a job that uses my caring nature and becoming a nurse seems like the perfect fit. Any job can be rewarding but working in the medical field where you can help save lives, make differences and be supportive at a person’s time of need is at the top of my list when I think of a rewarding career. I am choosing this course because I love learning new things and with a nursing career no day will be the same as the day before, so you will constantly be learning new skills, plus there are many different areas of nursing that you can go in to, so this will enable me to put my skills that I already have in to use but also learn completely new things.
I was born and raised in Nepal, where poverty is visible. Throughout my life, I have seen all different types of people in poverty, may it be infants, children, seniors, and even disabled people. Every day I would see people on the streets begging others for money so that they could treat their sick relatives. Whenever I saw them, I felt so frail. I wanted to comfort them, yet I did not know how since I was little. After I had moved here in the United States, then I started realizing that health care is precisely the right path for me. Moving here made me understand how other countries like Nepal are in great need of health services. Seeing the poverty and insufficient of good healthcare gave me more than the aspiration to become a nurse, it gave me the affection and dedication to achieve that career. I suppose that passion and commitment are important aspects of becoming a nurse.
