Levi Jacob came to my class as a requirement. All juniors in the state of Missouri must take Government and I was pleased to have a student that excited to discuss topic, learn more, and challenge the knowledge being present to him. Unfortunately, Levi had trouble in high school, mainly with attendance. I view this as a lack of interest or he experienced a level of boredom in many of his courses. I feel if give the change to explore topics of his interest that Levi would flourish in college. He was one of my favorite students. His writing was superior to many in the course and when assignment were turned in on time they were
Jacob Levy’s article works to explore different areas of cultural rights and the ways in which we may change the way we do things depending on the minority culture of the community. He breaks down cultural rights into different categories: exemptions, assistance, self-government, external and internal rules, recognition/enforcement, representation, and symbolic claims. He gives certain examples about each category, with instances such as having multilingual ballots to ease the voting process for minorities (assistance) or having proper representation in the legislature process.

Levittown project was taken up in the U.S. after the end of Second World War, with the aim of providing mass housing facilities to people in the wake of increasing urbanization and problems of accommodating large population in limited urban area (Friedman. 1995). The first of Levittown apartments were constructed on Long Island, New York and they symbolized the modern trends of urbanization and housing developments (Clapson. 2003). This paper shall study the impact of Levittown project on trends of further urbanization and analyze the aesthetics of design and development involved in it.
I did not get to see this monument due to staying back, but a very great friend of mine did and described his moving experience that made it felt like I’ve been there before. When Jacob’s travel group went to see this memorial it was night time which made it look interesting in how it stood. Jacob was moved by how Dr. King’s memorial was depicted being that he was the hope for our nation to be a whole and equal again. Jacob also noticed how King’s memorial was facing Thomas Jefferson’s memorial. Jacob like how represented being both Americans who wanted to do rights for others. This moves me because these Americans really wanted to make the citizens and America be the best they can be and express their views freely. As an American citizen,
Madelyn has always maintained good grades and scored well on standardized tests, but it is her ability to ask insightful questions and invoke higher-level thinking that will serve her well at Mercersburg Academy. Madelyn’s preferred learning style will be well-served by the Harkness Method and I have no doubt she will thrive in that environment. She is polite, thoughtful, and respectful of her peers and teachers. She will learn a great deal from them at Mercersburg Academy and they will learn a great deal from her.

When I was in elementary school, my grandparents would give me and my siblings twenty dollars if we made A-B Honor Roll. In 4th grade, we decided to treat our family by going to the movies, as we had not been to the movies in almost two years. Our idea was my sister and I would combine our forty dollars and buy the tickets and snacks, and we would have some nice family bonding. Until we met The Bike Woman, a homeless woman we encountered in the parking lot. She walked up to us, rolling her old blue bicycle alongside her and asked if we had any spare change. Without even thinking of it, we handed all forty dollars to her, along with three bottles of water we had in a cooler in the car. She thanked us profusely and even tried to give the money
For my research paper, I will be studying the work and paintings of Jacob Lawrence. Jacob Lawrence was an American painter and was very highly commended African-American artist of the 20 century. What he is best known for is his Migration Series. He was born in Atlantic City, New Jersey on September 7, 1917. When he was the age of two his mother deposited him and his two younger siblings in foster care in Philadelphia after his parents divorced. When he was thirteen he went to work in New York City and there he went to join his mother. He also spent fifteen years teaching as a professor at the University of Washington. Lawrence was also widely known for producing narrative collections such as the Migration Series and War Series. Shortly after Lawrence had arrived there, he was introduced to art when his mother had enrolled him in Utopia Children’s Center, which then had an after school art program. At the age of 16 he dropped out of school and took classes at the Harlem Art Workshop where it was taught by Charles Ashton and he very often visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In 1937, he won a scholarship to the American Artist School in New York. When he graduated in 1939 he had received funding from the Works Progress Administration Federal Art Project. By that time, he had already established his own type of modernism and that is then when he began to create his narrative series; where he would paint about 30 paintings or more for that one subject. In 1941, he had
The first step is encouraging the client’s well-being through assessing the client’s strengths. A trust in human potential is secured to the idea that people have unveiled resources- physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually-that can be mobilize in times of need. This is where professional helping comes into play-in tapping into the possibilities, into what can be, not what is. (p.51).
Administrators and counselors should look at a student’s academic prowess as they grow as a freshman and sophomore. They should also consider the student’s extracurricular activities, whether it be sports, clubs, or both. The student should prove him/herself capable of managing their time and showing responsibility; this could even be proved through parent and teacher vouchers.
Anthony takes his academics seriously. I have witnessed his steady and significant growth over the course of his high school career. He may not have the highest GPA in the class, but if effort and hard work were on a 4.0 scale, Anthony would be at the top. I have admired his growth and determination over the past few years. Possessing great time-management skills, he strives to improve each year and makes the right choices when faced with difficult decisions. During his sophomore Anthony suffered a concussion and this clearly impacted his academics. During this time I witnessed his determination and
This thesis has the objective to analyze the Jacob cycle, a set of narratives presentes in the book of Genesis first of Hebrew Bible, starting from its characteristics to find the literary resources tha suggest the irony and the humor. The history of religious interpretation of Jacob cycle has disregarded its ironic and humorous possibilities because of his interest in theological truth that presupposes sin and the salvation of humanity. Some authors have dealt with the theme of irony and humor in the narratives about Jacob, but the approach, in addition to being superficial, originated a priori from Greek or extemporaneous concepts that were not used by the Hebrew writers in the construction of their narratives. The aim of this thesis, therefore,
One the most distinguished artists of the twentieth century, Jacob Lawrence was born in Atlantic City and spnt part of his child hood in Pennsylvania. After his parents split up in 1924, he went with his mother and siblings to New York, settling in Harlem. "He trained as a painter at the Harlem Art Workshop, inside the New York Public Library's 113 5th Street branch. Younger than the artists and writers who took part in the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s, Lawrence was also at an angle to them: he was not interested in the kind of idealized, fake-primitive images of blacks - the Noble Negroes in Art Deco guise - that tended to be produced as an antidote to the toxic racist stereotypes with which white popular culture had flooded

There are thousands of stories in the Bible, but one stands out in particular; the story of Joseph. The Hebrew meaning of the name Joseph is “may Jehovah add, give increase.”1 Through the life of Joseph we see God add meaning and purpose to his life, just as God adds meaning and purpose to all our lives. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”2 Joseph obediently followed God’s plans through trials and tribulations whereas many other figures in the Old Testament faltered in their faith. Joseph, son of Jacob, is the single most important human being in the Old Testament because of his impeccable faith to the one true God and his story of forgiveness that set the stage for God’s chosen people.
