In life it is important that you remember that you cannot give up on your goals. Accomplishing your goals can improve your personality and lead to a happy life. Goals are never easy to reach but by leaving them behind you are only letting yourself and others down. Additionally,we also this idea in another place in the novel where it states ”i don't want to change anything, because i don’t know how to deal with change. Setting goals are the most important thing you can do in your life. Without goals you are going to have no direction, no ambition to be successful, no drive to stay in school, and you would have trouble finding a career that will provide for you. When planning for success you must make good choices on the path you are going to choose. The wrong path will put you somewhere that is going to take you off track of your goals. If you do not set goals or achievements for yourself then, you will not be successful in life. One major goal that I set for myself is to be elected at the ROTC program at Colts Neck High School. Unfortunately, it will not be an easy goals to achieve. It is going to a long bumpy ride until I reach my destination. However, if I study hard, complete all of my school assignments, and get antoshining grades then, I can find a shortcut to make this ride shorter and maybe even smoother after all. Also, participation is one of the main keys to achieving this goal. I make sure that I participate in class and in after school activities such as track and field and basketball because then my teachers and my coach could recommend me. This single goal persily will overall make me smarter and a hardworking student by the end of the year.

At the end of my senior year of high school, I had to make a senior portfolio; part of the project was to write down your goals and make a timetable for where you see yourself in five or ten years. I wrote that my goal in life is to be happy and I skipped the timetable because if my goal is to be happy then I can’t plan out how to obtain that goal. Who knows what will make me happy in five years? Life is constantly changing; nothing actually stays the same. It is important to set goals for yourself, but my idea of goals is different. I want to be happy and my goal is to take whatever smaller steps are necessary to get there.

What is the importance of goals? Do goals help you plan out your future? Or possibly give you something to work for? To me goals provide a map of what I want to do, how I’m going to do it, and why I want to do it. Goals also provide a sense of accomplishment when you finally get to finish whatever you’ve been working towards. The need for goals in life is clear, because without goals, we wouldn’t get much done. Simply because of the fact that there wouldn’t be anything to work towards, and no structure to our future. One of my most important goals is to graduate college, to get a career in psychology. This goal is extremely important to me because of the fact that not many people in my family have even finished high school.

VIRGINIE/HILLARY: Well Anderson I believe that goals are important for our health. Goals are a necessary component to a stable psychological and mental state, to overcome procrastination, and to lead a successful life.

Picture this, a nice big house in downtown Chicago, driving a nice car to your dream job everyday. Well lets just hope that will be me in the future. Once said by the great Muhammad Ali “If my mind can conceive it, and my heart can believe it, then I can achieve.” Well that is my whole mindset for achieving my goals.

As a child and even as a teenager one tends to make dreams and set goals for life. On occasion these goals are far stretched and sometimes even fairy-tale like, we tend to see life through a rose-colored glass, not taking into account the many sidetracks life throws our way. At that stage in life our goals tend to be less focused and somewhat unreachable. However, the process of growing up, or maturing, tends organized and center our goals, we learn to make compromises and set goals for our goals. There are different types of goals, short term and long term. I have learned to separate the many goals I have into three main categories: family, professional and personal.

Albert Einstein, a highly intelligent physicist once said “if you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal. Not things.” I believe people should set goals in life because it lets you create the steps to fulfill your goal. I am Zack Leffue and I am in the eighth grade and have set many goals that I created for my life including becoming a dentist. Though I will go through the most extreme efforts to complete my goals there are still obstacles that will stand in my way.

“Successful, ambitious people need both energy and goals to succeed. Someone with plenty of energy but no goals may find themselves pursuing one opportunity after another without success, wondering what it is that they are wanting out of life. Someone with goals but no energy may find themselves wanting to achieve success, but too complacent to do the work to go about pursuing their goals” (businessdictionary.com). This quote says that even though ambition gives you the motivation to achieve your goals. People may quit when the work becomes too hard, but striving to reach a certain goal will come with stress and failure. We must use those failures to learn from the mistakes we make and use it as a motivation to achieve. If you learn to set desirable goals for yourself, and approach them with an optimistic attitude, you are well on your way to the success you desire.
