The one thing that Shakespeare has always mastered in his play productions is contrast. This may be between moods, characters, or even the idea of light and dark. This is no different in the play Macbeth. The contrast between light and dark in this play goes from moral and goodness down to progressively evil. This is all circling around Macbeth. Though this is shown by his actions, the world around him, and his character. In this play we see the this exact change of a person from good to evil this is life.

The witches in the very first scene of Macbeth show us how this story will told Act 1. As a contrast between light and dark our “hero” Macbeth reacts in fear of the witches and is on the other end of the spectrum when describing the light and darkness of each scene. An example of some dialogue is when Macbeth says “ so foul and fair day I have not seen”(line 40). This could even represent the meeting between the witches and our blessed travellers. This whole scene is under the cover of darkness and is absolutely perfect for a MURDER and nobody expects it (really?). In this scene we expect Macbeth to be scared out of his wits and his wife being cool, calm, and collected, but exactly the opposite happens. Macbeth’s interactions with Macduff is almost too suspicious, he just lead him away from his prey and goes on his way. Macbeth then kills the king with no fear in his eye and his wife is so worried about the murder. She explains she can’t go through with it herself because the king looks like her father. This whole scene is honestly hilarious because of the ironic contrast between Macbeth and his wife. She used to be this evil conniving lady who pushes her husband around to get him to man up, and Macbeth degrades himself so much that he builds himself back up as a monster who will kill anyone that gets in his
