Leaguetown Independent School District is currently facing a conflict of whether having later start times would perhaps help the improvement of academic performance of Leaguetown Middle School and high school students. Superintendent Judith Owens has proposed a new schedule that would set later start times. A group of Leaguetown Middle School parents has organized to oppose the proposal.
According to Lithonia Middle School, the district spending per student is increasing significantly each year, due to the amount of programs each student needs in order to succeed. The chart below shows the increase on the amount of funds being spent on a child per year:
Another question I have for proposers of a uniform policy is that does Lisgar Middle School really need a uniform policy. Uniform policies are usually enforced on lower income communities. As far as I know Lisgar don’t have trouble with academics, attendance, crime, behavioral issues and substance abuse on school grounds. I don’t understand why Lisgar would need a uniform policy due to that reason. It would simply be a waste of time to create a uniform policy that would have little to no positive effects on the school community
I am a student here at Oxford Middle school and I feel that it is important to inform you that our school should have a wider variety of electives. Oxford Middle school is a perfectly fine school, but many of the students seem to not be able to focus in class. My belief is that kids aren’t doing what they find as fun with the school day they have now. I think that our school should give more elective choices so that kids won't be as board in school.

I am a former 8th grade student from Greendale Middle School. After three years of seeing the old firehouse/police station, I came up with a renovation idea for the historic building. Since the High School already has a theater that is optimal for shows, I think that Greendale needs to have a theater that could be utilized for music. Greendale is involved in music and I think we need somewhere where we can enjoy music to its fullest extent. I know that the project would cost thousands of dollars, but this space could be rented to groups like MYSO or other groups that have a big musical influence and it could be used to generate funds. Since the High School theater is not big enough to sit all the supporting families of the Greendale band and

It’s no secret that Leaguetown High School’s students are statistically unhealthier than those of the average American high school. While recognizing this problem, I believe that the current proposal to limit food options and increase food prices in an effort to counteract this trend is completely the wrong way to solve it.
Throughout my four years of high school, I have proven to my educators and peers that I am an academically-excellent, incredibly involved, and vivacious student. These qualities ensure that I have an exceptionally bright future ahead.

Oakridge S.S. is not only known for its academics but also for its extracurricular activities. Along with my studies, I like to keep myself active by doing activities. My favorite sport to play is football. I’ve been playing football since I was in grade seven and continued to play all throughout high school. I’ve been on the school football team for all four years and dedicated myself to the team. The game of football has taught me many skills, how to deal with injuries in a positive way and created an everlasting bond with my teammates and coaches.
