On August 4th, 1892, a horrific murder took place. On that day, a young woman named Lizzie Borden was accused for murder, but some think she is innocent. I believe Lizzie Borden is guilty. She did not have good relationship with her step-mother, there were no signs of anyone trying to break into the Borden home, and she was lying about where she was when the murder occurred, she said she was outside in the backyard but there were no footprints or anything to prove she was. Lizzie Borden is guilty and here are 3 reasons why. First of all, there were no signs of anyone trying to break into the Borden home, so it had to be someone that was already there. There were cops that searched the house but found nothing that could’ve led to someone …show more content…
Lizzie Borden was obviously lying about where she was, but why would she have to lie, what is she trying to hide from everyone?
The last reason why Lizzie Borden is because she did not have a good relationship with her step-mother and didn’t consider Abby her mother. Lizzie Borden stopped calling her mother at a young age because of an affair. Although Lizzie Borden was most likely the murderer, there is still a small chance someone else was the murderer. The “Inquest Testimony of Lizzie Borden” points out,“I know of a man who has not been friendly with him. They have not been friendly for years.” Most sources said that no one had anything against Andrew Borden, but in Lizzie Borden’s testimony she says someone was not friendly with Andrew Borden and has not been for a very long time. This man that was not friendly with Andrew Borden could have been the murderer. Although there is more evidence that says Lizzie Borden is the murderer, there is still a chance that she is innocent.
Although there is a chance that Lizzie Borden is innocent, there is more evidence that says she is guilty so I believe she is guilty. They may have been someone that was not friendly with Andrew Borden, but this man had no reason to kill his wife as well, he had nothing against her. There is still more evidence that says she is guilty like that she didn’t have a good relationship with her mother, she lied about where she was when
What makes the Fall River murders so confusing is that the motive, the weapon, and the opportunity for such a crime are all absent. They found no money or jewelry missing, not even small amounts of change were taken in the daytime break-in at the Borden home a year earlier. The home had been locked up as usual, the maid Bridget Sullivan-an Irish immigrant, 26, that had been working at the household since 1889-was washing windows, and daughter Lizzie was inside the house reading a magazine. Even if both were involved for some reason in this shocking crime, what became of the blood so conspicuously missing from the bludgeoned corpses?
Is Mary Surratt guilty? Mary Surratt is being accused of the assassination of Abraham Lincoln and is being hanged for it. Some people say that Dr.Mudd did it and other people say that Mary did it but who really killed Abraham Lincoln? Mary Surratt definitely deserved to be hanged for the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.
Mary Surratt, a women who assisted in killing Abraham Lincoln , is guilty of conspiracy because she knew what the plans where to assassinate the 16th president of the United States. She gave John Wilkes Booth, the killer of the president, and their follow colleagues a places to sleep and live, the boarding place she provided is also the place they came up with the plans to murder the president. One of the people who were around during this was John M. Lloyd, he was an assistant to Mrs.Surratt . As he describes Mrs. Surratt in his testimony, he had do several things that had to be done to make sure that their plan carried thru, Like getting an buggy to pick up Booth to go to the theater. Also Mrs.Surratt and Booth often held private meetings
Some people may say that it was right for Mary Surratt to have been hanged. However, even though she knew about the shooting irons, only one person new about the irons. That
Wouldn’t you be scared if somebody was onto you if you murdered somebody? Exactly. Another reason how I know Lizzie Borden is innocent is because during Lizzie Borden’s investigation, she was serene and wasn’t nervous while the questions were being asked. She gave the truth and talked like everything was
Another argument you might use to disprove that it was Abigail fault, would be to blame the courts, their misunderstanding, and their willingness to accept the false statements of Abigail and the girls. The courts had a big part in these trials, and it is evident that they did not consider the distant possibility that the young girls were lying to get out of the whole. As for Elizabeth Proctor’s encounters with Abigail to hate Elizabeth for standing in her way to do things. The truth was Elizabeth and Abigail which was John’s third wife barely knew each other.
Mary Surratt was sentenced to death by hanging for aiding in the president's assassins. She helped John Wilkes Booth and his associates kill president Lincoln and attempt to kill vice president Seward. I think Mary Surratt was guilty of aiding the president's assassins and attempting to help kidnap the president and i will tell you why.
When Abigail was accused of being involved in the events that happened in the forest, she took a proactive role in the situation. Abigail was able to manipulate others to make them believe she was innocent. One of the major factors that motivated Abigail in her lies was fear. She did not want to be punished or whipped for what she did in the forest. She also made the other girls fear her by threating them with their lives if they contradicted her story. Abigail did not want to bring shame to her name. When Reverend Parris approached her with the events that happened in the forest, she placed all of the attention on everyone but herself. Revan Parris also asks her why Goody Proctor fired her, and her
Multiple people did not believe that Lizzie Borden could do such an act and many other people
Lizzie’s father, Andrew, divorced his first wife and got remarried to Abby, Lizzie’s stepmother (Latson). The second thing wrong with this line is that it says she was hit 40 times. Contrary to popular beliefs, Abby was only hit 20 times (Beem).
In comparison, she lied about Marry Warren stuck the needles into the dolls as if it were Abigail. Abigail stabbed herself to make it look like Marry Warren wanted to stab her, just like the doll which had needles stuck into its
All throughout Justine's imprisonment and death, Shelley plays with the idea of innocence versus guilt. When William is killed Justine who is portrayed as an innocent bystander is convicted of the crime. When she is arrested everyone is confused because no one believes that she could have done this. This is because everyone sees her as cute and innocent.“Who is safe , if she is to be convicted of crime? I rely on her innocence as certainly as i do upon my own”(81). Even most of the characters believe that she is innocent but,
Hello, this is my opinion on Lizzie, although the poem says she took an axe, what was John doing, the maid, and sister? The maid was the only person in the house besides Lizzie and Abbi. Did they set up the murders? John was out of town, suspiciously, and the sister was out with a friend. The father was running errands. Lizzie had an attorney and claimed Lizzie was sleeping during the murders. And if these people did associate with Lizzie, why, they as much to gain as anyone? Did Andrew choose ,favorites? Was Abbi a bad mother? We may never know.
It is August 4rth, 1892, in Fall River Massachusetts. In a house located on 92nd street, Andrew and Abby Borden are lying dead. Andrew had received 11 strikes to the head with a hatchet and Abby withheld 19. Bridget Sullivan and John Fleet hold evidential facts on the Borden case.
An innocent man was convicted of a crime he did not commit. Several reasons exist. First: Bennett had a previous arrest record and he seemed to fit the description of the killer. Second: the police were under pressure to solve the crime. And finally "above all, because the public was clamoring for some way to express its indignation (for the death of Mrs. Stuart), found Willie Bennett a plausible target"(Baird and Rosenbaum 97). Cases just like this one lead to innocent men found guilty with the potential of being put on death row.
