I. Pray for Local Government
Father, I place a prayer covering over Mayor Allison Silberberg and Councilman Paul Smedberg and all local leaders in Alexandria City and give them strategies to provide righteous, wise leadership that blesses our region and nation (Proverbs 29:2). May they provide righteous leadership and give them revelatory insights to inspire generations to make a difference in their city. Awaken their hearts to reflect as a model of a Christ-centric leader in this set time and give them passion to serve. In Jesus name, Amen.
II. Pray for Local Schools
Father, I’m interceding on the behalf of Christopher J. Lewis, Daria Dillard and I ask you to strengthen their leadership and ignite great discernment to them and as well other school board members; Principal Jessica Hillery and Assistant Principal Robert Bowes as they launch new strategies that empower the next generation to excel in all their academic tasks. May you grant them wisdom and insight to execute your plans and purposes (II Timothy 2:15) and give them insight and wisdom to handle any adverse situation they face. Amen.
III. Pray for Local Neighborhood
Father, I announce Jesus is Lord over Alexandria City, its suburbs and denounce every stronghold that rests on the people (residents, visitors, etc.) minds and every deceptive thought, influence and initiative the enemy has, or plan to advance in this region is eradicated in Jesus name. I ask that you fill this city with your presence and touch
In the winter of 2014 I applied to be a part of Los Angeles Mayor Youth Council. On the first day of the program all the delegates from every district came together at City Hall. We heard a wonder speech from our beloved Mayor Eric Garcetti. He told us to look on top of the door leading into City Hall. There was a sign that said “Let us have faith that right makes might” President Lincoln. Our mission that President Lincoln mission during the civil war was to make sure that Political leaders are doing what is right. In the council we represent the voice and the concerns of the under serviced which in this case are the youth. In recent years there has been an increase number of protest and riots due to officer involved shootings. The city
In June of 2017 a close friend and I established a county-wide political club designed specifically for teenagers.
Prior to coming to Hoke County, Dr. Williamson had already served in a plethora of diverse roles in his educational career (e.g., teacher, assistant principal, vocational-educational director, principal, director of secondary and middle school education, director of personnel, associate superintendent, and a boys and girls basketball coach), therefore becoming a superintendent was inevitable; the school board knew he could advance the Hoke County’s School System, however the “key” was: he was a willing vessel.
Walker-Davidson announced, “I am thrilled to serve the district and the community in this new capacity. For the past four years I have served as the ABC district middle school principal and I feel that has provided me with a great foundation for moving forward. I am excited to work with the administrative team and staff in order to continue the academic growth within our school district. It is my personal goal to increase the graduation rate, test scores, and the availability of career readiness programs, as well as obtaining and training expert staff members.” Dr. Walker-Davidson went on to explain her mission for the school district to be: success driven, education focused, and student centered. I plan on carrying out this mission with expert educators, dedicated staff members, and community involvement.”
As many of you may know today is a day for rebellion, against the slums, the ghettos, the bloody heels of crying children and bad jobs, today we arise as a nation for freedom and equality to stand against segregation. Today we rebel against the aggressors, to make a stand, so that every man, of any race may stand, and coexist as equals. Almost one hundred years ago all of the African Americans made free by the emancipation proclamation. But yet today one hundred, One Hundred, years later we still have to use the colored bathroom, the colored bars, the colored water fountains, and sit on the back of the bus.
For the purpose of this assignment, the leader I have chosen Ms. J, the principal of a charter school in New Orleans charter school named Harriet Tubman Charter School. Ms. J was also a founder of a school network that oversees 3 elementary to 8th grade schools. Founded in 2011 the schools now serve over 1700 students in the New Orleans area. Tubman Charter school has a staff of eighty. Ms. Lauses role is to oversee eight staff members that ensure that the school produces leading results for the state as well as promising scholars that will path their way to college. As the principal of this school specifically, Ms. J has large obstacles that go beyond the walls of the school. Harriet Tubman Charter school is within a neighborhood that struggles both economically and educationally. Almost 100% of the scholars qualify for a free lunch and are black or Latino and the kindergartens scholars that arrive on the first day know only one or two letters of the alphabet. Historically before Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans on 38% of public school students graduated high school (quote). While most people see this as a place where most people see extreme challenges, Ms. J see’s it as an opportunity for change and promise.
I teach in the Westside Consolidated Number Five School District in Jonesboro, Arkansas. The school district is a consolidation of three small rural town school districts Bono, Egypt, and Cash, Arkansas in 1968. I met with my mentor Mr. Scott Gaunt the school district superintendent on January 18, 2017 between meetings with district leaders and countywide superintendents. We met and discussed the community relations plan and identified the two most important issues for our district as identified in the poll by the Phi Delta Kappan and the Gallop poll. The issues were the lack of financial support for the school district to provide an adequate education for students and the testing and regulations imposed on school districts that lower educational time for students while in school.
Echeverria and I were at the School Board Retreat at the District Office. This year our Superintendent invited union leaders to attend the retreat as a symbol of collaboration and change in the district. It was during this board retreat that I learned that many of the district administration were unaware of the districts vision and mission. Ms. Echeverria and I discussed how the district goes about changing the Districts vision and mission statement. 2 years ago our District Motto change over night from “Every Student, Every Minute, Every Day" into “Believe in the Power of Education” the change rocked the districted and put people in a very precarious position. Ms. Echeverria stated that the motto only changes after the district vision and mission changes, which is outlined in Board
With Mr. DeVaughn having recently retired, a situation has arisen to myself and to the other members of this board; we must begin the search for a new principal of Saltillo High School (SHS). This will, however, not be as simple a task as one might think, as we cannot simply select any random individual. We must choose the individual who is most fit for the job of running a school such as ours, and I was lucky enough to have the privilege of being the student who was selected to voice my opinion on this matter. I believe that I speak for the entire student body when I say that the new principal must possess specific qualities if he or she is to get the job and excel in his or her position. I believe that I speak once again for the rest of my fellow students when I say that we must select an individual who will best represent SHS as a whole: someone who has professionalism, who has moral values, and who has ambition.
There’s a fine line and often confusion between when the government is speaking and when the government is creating a forum for private speech by individual citizens. In Walker v. Texas Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Inc. the Supreme Court clarifies and establishes a progressive and wider realm of what constitutes as government speech. The facts of the case are as follows; the Texas division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans (Texas SCV), a nonprofit group that continuously works to preserve the memory and reputation of Confederate soldiers that fought during the Civil War, applied for a specialty license plate issued by the Texas Department of Motor vehicles (Texas DMV). The design of the custom plate submitted by Texas SCV featured two confederate flags, one in the organizations logo and an additional faded flag making up the
fight because he hates what is in front of him he fights because he loves what he left behind. This is a quote written by G.K Chesterton. This is certainly a true quote. We have two local heroes from our community. These two heros believed just this. These two heroes are also featured on our Mills County Freedom Rock Located in Emerson Iowa. You have probably figured out who I am talking about, I am talking about Sergeant Skalberg and Sergeant Carrie both of Emerson Iowa. And not to mention but they were both graduates from the former Nishna Valley School. They certainly did give up a lot for us. They have both made the ultimate sacrifice, giving their lives up for our country. Because of their sacrifice I can be here today speaking freely about my heros. This means that t they gave up the one thing that they loved most, their family. Now that I have told you who I am going to talking about in my speech I am going to tell you what I hope for you to learn throughout my speech. First I will tell you who my hero is , why they are my hero, what they do to deserve a title like hero, and what you can do to support all of our members of the armed forces. Without further ado
I have spent numerous hours crying and prayed daily that the Lord would give me patience, strength, understanding and lead me in the direction that is best for all families. As the director of Largo Learning Academy my first priority is the safety and well-being of our children. With this in mind, there will be a few changes made for the upcoming fall
“Give me liberty or give me death” Patrick Henry was so determined for his cause, he would die for it. Standing up for what you believe in can let you do great things. Even though sometimes it is hard to stand up for what you believe in, it is worth the reward.
Pray that the Restoration Church in Amherst, Ohio, would continue to persevere as they plant house churches.
