Lonesome Dove is a story in the western genre written by Larry McMurty. The book was published in 1985 and was the first book of a tetralogy, but third in chronology. The book is about a strenuous cattle drive from Texas to Montana. Lonesome Dove was a wholesome and interesting book that engages your curiosity from the beginning to the end. In the beginning of the story they are in a small south Texas town called lonesome Dove, where the two main characters Augustus McCrae and Woodrow Call had settled down and started a livery stable after being famous Texas rangers. The journey starts off after Jake Spoon rides into town talking about Montana and the untapped potential. That is what sets them off on their journey driving cattle from Texas to Montana. As their journey began they had many dilemmas, but I would say their first dilemma was the death of Sean O’Brien a young Irish man found with his brother Allen O’Brien when they collected the cattle for the drive. That part of the story was the first major event of the story driving fear in many of the crew. As the drive went north, so did Jake spoon, who brought along a woman by the name of Lorena Wood. Lorena is a major character in the story as she is a love interest of both Augustus McCrae, Jake Spoon ,and desired by many. The story had an interesting offshoot that involved a sheriff from fort smith, Arkansas by the name of July Johnson. This story begins with Jake Spoon who was in fort smith gambling when he got into a

In Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo, the main character, Kaz, has grown up without a real home for the majority of his life. However, while his tangible home consists only of a small room in a gambling house, throughout the series he realizes his real home is with his crew -- his friends. While not exactly realizing this consciously, Kaz demonstrates this subconscious realization many times, when his crew are in life and death situations, and he perseveres to make sure everyone is safe. Similarly, The Odyssey by Homer and Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, while two very different texts, both focus on the symbol of home. The Odyssey focuses on the struggles of Greek hero Odysseus as he tries to return to his home Ithaca but faces obstacles and temptations along the way. Of Mice and Men follows two migrant workers, George and Lennie and their struggle to achieve their dreams and live a happy life in a world where reaching one’s goal is extremely hard. Both Homer and Steinbeck, in their respective texts, use the idea of home to demonstrate the perseverance necessary to achieve one’s goals.

In Ben Johnson’s “To the Memory of My Beloved, The Author, Mr. William Shakespeare, and What He Hath Left Us”, Johnson dictates a dramatically sycophantic poem in honor of the late William Shakespeare. With his superficial, dramatic style, Johnson unveils his own envious attitude within the unbegotten admiration he appoints throughout the poem. By complimenting Shakespeare through this ironic voice, Johnson insincerely praises Shakespeare’s legacy in a clever attempt to highlight Shakespeare’s minute but mentionable flaws. Throughout the commemorational poem, Johnson cleverly praises Shakespeare’s seemingly incomparable success as a poet by incorporating other famous poets as a belittling contrast. While meant as a friendly coup de grâce, Johnson’s assessment of Shakespeare is Johnson’s ultimate attempt to align himself with Shakespeare, bearing praise unto himself as well. In a poem meant to highlight and enunciate Shakespeare’s unparalleled skill and talent, Johnson instead attempts to expose his faults in hopes of bringing Shakespeare closer to himself.
Before the performance began, the narrator observed that Sonny “put both hands on his heart and bowed from the waist” (Baldwin 310). Shortly after, they began to play and the narrator came to the epiphany that each musician had their own voice through their instrument. As the musicians talk to each other through their improvisation of playing, Creole pushes Sonny to speak for himself. The narrator watched his brother suffering to play the piano, as if he were scared. What Creole really wanted was for “Sonny to leave the shoreline and strike out for the deep water” (Baldwin 311). In a religious view, one can see how the performance symbolizes a baptism. Sonny confessed his sins to his brother during their conversation after the revival meet
The Story of Lonesome Dove takes place in South Texas along the Rio Grande. With the awareness of substance abuse as an illness, attention has also been directed to the families and loved ones of those who suffer. Why do families and loved ones stay with someone who is so obviously ill? Why do they tolerate being taken advantage of? One of the first books to address this issue is Codependent No More. According to the author, the issue at hand is codependency, where the individual in the relationship with the addict suffers from an illness as well. This paper is an analysis of the book compared with similar research on the topic.

On Friday, November 23, at 7 p.m., I went to see the DHS Factor, with a friend, at the Richard Brunelle Performance Hall. I chose to attend this performance because I was interested in seeing different people from our school perform in front of an audience. It was nice to see the wide variety of talent that is found at our school. A nice touch to the production was having a student, teacher, and former student be the judges for the night.
The title of Wallace Stevens poem, "Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird," is misleading, because he does not only offer thirteen ways of looking at blackbird, but the poem offers us many insights on how humans think. "Blackbird", written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon, has many similarities with "Thirteen Ways of Looking at A Blackbird" other than just their titles. They use many poetic conventions to explain their poem 's ideas, both writers use a blackbird to compare to humans and human nature, and imagery plays a big role in getting across their points.
The theme of the song gives Herald the strength to find his identity and to find his daughter Zonia returning to her lost mother Martha. According to Family Studies Blog, 50 percent of American families get a divorce. In 1998, my family was a part of the 50 percent. Six years later, I heard a song that made me cry because it reminded me of my father leaving my family. When I listened to this song I use to pretend that my father actually cared for my feelings. For a while, I wished Eminem was my father. During 2004, I would get on YouTube, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p3MutoUNiC8, and listen to this song on repeat and pretend my father cared for my family. For this paper, I will be analyzing the song Mockingbird, written and sang by Eminem.

Alex Colville is a famous painter who was s student at Mount Allison. His subject matter is his family, animals he keeps, landscapes near from his home. I will analyze "Seven Crows(1980)" which was painted by Alex Coville. We can see crows are winding a river and surrounding a field. He depicted this painting based on realism. We can sind out crows near from our home or park or road. Crows and humans have relationships. They ordinarily assist to clean human's messes. They are really intelligent so they are learning from people. In my opinion, the reason why he chose to depict crows hence crows are our close neighborhoods. He might be interested in crows are smart, and moreover they are evolving with humans. The painting looks like a real landscape
