Some long term causes of the war was that people were poor because the money spent on the war. Archduke Franz Ferdinand was assassinated. He and his wife was assassinated in 1914. The killings sparked a chain of events that led to the outbreak of World War I by early August. On June 28, 1919, five years to the day after Franz Ferdinand’s death, Germany and the Allied Powers signed the Treaty of Versailles, officially marking the end of World War I.

Gavrillo Principv shot them. He was arrested in 1914 for 2-degree murder. Gavril Princip was born on July 15 1894. The instability of Europe and the varied alliances caused the major powers to develop plans that would guide the military in the event of a war plans where nothing would be left to chance. These intricate plans included rigid timetables for troop movements and carefully prepared lists of objectives. They were strict with very little margin for error. This was a limiting factor because the technology of the day was wrought with error.
