Let’s Talk about Love: A Journey to the End of Taste centers on Carl Wilson’s quest to discover why we like and dislike certain aspects of our larger culture. Within this search he finds how cultural taste relates to how humans perceive both each other and themselves. Each chapter is an exploration into one part of taste and how it relates to the world beyond the book. In Chapter 7, Wilson explores objectivity. Specifically, he asks: “is there any objectivity in artistic taste?” (Wilson 75). In other words, Wilson is questioning whether objectivity can exist at all in the artistic sphere, or if taste is ultimately ruled by subjectivity and bias. Sadly when I arrived at the theater I was not even sure I would be able to focus on the show, for my mother who was meant to see this production with me yet was unable to. Knowing we would only get about fifteen minutes with each set of characters kept me on the edge of my seat begging them to get their happy ending before time ran out. This unique dimension of the play was so different than anything I had ever experienced watching any other performance and the actors embraced it beautifully.

This was the first play or theatre performance that I have attended. I was unsure of what to expect, but I heard great things about this play. Furthermore, the first aspect of this production that caught my attention was the design of the set. The design gave the feeling of a run down urban neighborhood by making the outer parts of the stage look like an old brick building. The building looked like one you would find in a low-income area or projects. The scenery of the play set the stage for what type of production this would be. In conclusion, I thought this play was a great choice for me to see at the theatre. I was glad I went to see it because it made me realize that your opinion doesn’t have to be the most popular opinion. I need to stand up for what I believe in and that is what this play taught me. I do prefer a comedy over a tragedy and I am upset with the ending but I cannot complain because I enjoyed this play very

Beauty is traditionally defined as a concept that focuses on a combination of qualities such as shape, color or form that pleases the aesthetic sense, especially the sight. With this interpretation there is a general standard to what is “beautiful” and what is not that is appealing to everyone. However, there has been an increase in the belief that the judgement of beauty is relative to different individuals and/or cultures and that there are no universal criteria of beauty. Within the novel, Love Medicine, written by Louise Erdrich, there is an emphasis on the more novel conceptualization of beauty. Beauty still induces attraction, but what has changed is what is considered attractive.
