Cunning. In politics, there will always be someone more powerful than the prince and there will be times when brute force will not suffice in enabling them. In such situations, the capable prince must be capable of outsmarting the opposition, if they wish to remain relevant.
Decisive. The worst thing a Machiavellian prince can do is nothing at all. Neutrality only breeds animosity from both sides of the conflicts. The competent prince must, when tasked with choosing a side, declare their allegiance overtly and without doubt. Choosing neutrality, from the perspective of the opposing parties, serves the same as declaring oneself opposed to all; the winning party has no need for half-hearted friends and the loser will not appreciate the lack of

A prince must be educated in all the matters that concerns them and their governance, if not they will either prove themself incompetent and therefore unfit to rule, or they will find themself subservient to those who are knowledgeable.
Sensational. Sensationalism is a surefire way to captivate the hearts of minds of a prince’s subjects. Everything thing that they do; military campaigns, rewards, punishments, executions; should be grand and unusual. It will dazzle the citizens, occupy the nobles, and secure fame for the prince across their domain.
Cautious. When an opportunity presents itself, a prince should not blindly take it without assessing the possible risks and ramifications of their actions.
Self-Assured. Once a prince takes a particular course of action, they must commit to it wholeheartedly. There must be no room for doubt, otherwise their enemies will capitalize on their insecurity and their subjects will doubt their ruler’s righteousness.
Daring. The effective prince must be willing to take some risky paths in their career. Overly-cautious rulers often find that the path avoiding trouble leads to trouble greater than ever imagined.
Realistic. The capable prince must waste no time lamenting about how men should act or depend upon such ideals. A prince must rule with the knowledge of how men actually
In the prince, Machiavelli explores a world of governments and presents the many different ways in which a ruler must adapt in order to run an efficient government. Machiavelli provides a number of applications in which a ruler can acquire and maintain the leading position of a government. While many of these applications are just and moral, there is no denying that some of the Machiavelli’s tactics are cruel and immoral. However, as we advance deep into the meaning behind Machiavelli’s choice of words, we learn that these unjust ways are meant to advance the power of the prince. We learn that Machiavelli’s goal isn’t to make a good prince, one that is loved by the people and makes everyone happy, but a great prince. Machiavelli begins
A prince is respected as well when he is a true friend and a true enemy, meaning that he sides with another prince against another with no reservation. A prince should show that he that he is a lover of talent and give recognition to men who have ability. He should encourage his subjects to be free in trade and reward them because they are benefiting his city or state by aggrandizing it.
A prince has plenty to worry about during times of war and everyone is out to get you so you must be greedy and heinous in times of war. The prince declares that the nation state comes first before individuals.
The Prince has a definite form, tone, and rhetoric. The form is pleasing and organized. He organizes it first into the three main types of principalities- hereditary, mixed, and free- pausing once to address the Kingdom of Darius, then moves to the various ways one can rise to be a prince- arms and ability, others arms and fortune, wickedness, others rising the prince up- then talks about how to rise a kingdom to be stronger- measured strength, ecclesiastical,
According to Machiavelli, a Prince’s profession should be war. He suggested a prince to think about weapons and be prepared for any war which may happen, he even stated that “being disarmed makes you despised”
The Prince, a book written by Niccolo Machiavelli, was seen as a text about its coherent perspectives and noble concepts of Leadership. There is a term called “Machiavellian”. This term refers to “the belief that a ruler is justified in using any means necessary to stay in power”. Many people can point out many corrupt scandalous government officials that use deception and dishonesty to maintain their power or title. This
A new prince may find it much harder to gain the favor of the people. He would not
A prince must learn not to be limited to morality when unavoidable; a leader has to be able to use lies, force and deception if required in the world. Whether it is better to be feared or loved clearly addresses the reason for this.
Particularly I find the prince to be straddling our world, there is even a word after its author, which is Machiavellianism which definition revolves around his lion and fox metaphor it, is to be cunning and deceitful. Machiavelli’s the prince is a recommended text to most political leaders today. Political advisors would encourage men in power to follow his reasoning. This is because the field involving politics, political science was greatly influenced by Machiavelli. To Machiavelli, to achieve something you have to do whatever no matter how immoral, by any means necessary.
A leader can then take advantage of a situation and use it to his advantage to reassure his people of the measures that they are taking. This will help the prince deal with people who doubt him. The ruler will not be despised by his own people if he abstains from stealing the people's property or touching their women. It is in the prince's best interest to keep a good relationship with his

In The Prince, Machiavelli explains what a good and successful prince should be like. He advocates a strong, cutthroat authority figure and encourages the winning of power by any means necessary. The main theme in The Prince is that mob rule is dangerous, for people know only what is good for themselves and not what is good for the whole. The common people, in Machiavelli’s view, “are ungrateful, fickle, liars, and deceivers, they shun danger and are greedy for profit; while you treat them well, they are yours”. He believes that these commoners should be
Then he must become cunning and deceitful like a fox. It becomes imperative to play mind games and destroy your enemies from afar. Machiavelli tells us that rulers inevitably find themselves in a pyramid. At the top is the ruler, below him are the wolves and the sheep at the bottom. These wolves are the aristocrats, they resent the ruler. Thus they are always scheming to steal his power from him. As a result a ruler must be as deceitful, cunning, and powerful when the situation demands it. In doing so he assures his power .In Morality And Politics (Page 9) “Since men (the people governed) are bad and would not observe their faith with the prince, he is not obliged or expected to keep faith with them. And the prince should, if possible, pretend a good man: full of mercy, kindness, loyalty and honesty, however he may at any necessary moment need to cast free of those virtuous limitations.”) The nature of men is that they are cunning, conniving a nd show little love for there lord.
