What is home? A house? A place? Or somewhere people really want to go back when they feel tired? I feel confused about why Mamacita didn’t feel at home during that time because her family was living with her there. I will ask her about her life in the U.S., her life in her hometown and why she insisted on not speak English. Her life in the U.S. is limited to the home. “She always sits all day by the window and plays the Spanish radio show and sings all the homesick songs about her country in a voice that sounds like a seagull”( ) She never come out from the house because she can’t speak English, and she do not want to learn because everything including English is so strange, even her husband is different. In the poem, Home by Pauline Kaldas, upon moving to Boston, the speaker expresses her longing for her hometown. She misses the atmosphere, the crowdedness, and the food that Cairo, her indigenous hometown possesses. Alma feels afraid, trapped, and insecure about this unknown country, America, when she comes here for the first time. It all makes Alma dreadfully homesick for her friends, neighbors, and family in Mexico because of those bad conditions and the unfamiliar place. She does not know how to speak English; therefore, she has not known any neighbor to talk with. Also, the things do not occur like expectation. In fact, the life in the U.S. is worse than in Mexico. However, even if she knows that, she still makes up her minds to move here. Alma starts missing her former home in Mexico, for her and her husband lived there since they were born. When she stays home by herself, the feeling of missing is stronger than any other
The last month of our stay I attended one slumber party after another, all thrown in our honor.” This statement says a lot, This shows that the people grown to accept other types of people from different places, grown-up, and treated her with the love and care she deserved from day one in her last month. Furthermore, to add another complicated family member to J.D.’s life was his grandmother, who he called Mamaw. Mamaw was a complicated woman, who complicated J.D.’s life even more. She grew up with a violent lifestyle, that continued on into her later years, and encouraged violence with J.D. When J.D. was in grade school, he had noticed another student who was continuously bullied by a larger student. J.D. spoke to his grandmother about how upset he was for not standing up for the bullied student. Mamaw directed that, ““Tomorrow you need to stand up for that boy, and if you have to stand up for yourself, then do that, too.” Then she taught me a move: a swift, hard (make sure to turn your hips) punch right to the gut. “If he starts in on you,

The counterbalanced trabuco first appeared in China around the fourth century BC. The trabuco later appeared in Europe in the twelfth century AD, and the reputation of the weapon was such that the mere fact of seeing it built in front of the walls led more than one castle to surrender. Alarm clocks will always ring, but the burning question is: at what time should they ring? At Laguna Beach High School, kids are forced to wake up at 6:00 a.m. and get to school by 7:25. While the school argues students should get to bed earlier, so they have the energy to wake up in the morning and do all they need to do to get ready for school students say it’s not possible; and not the way to go. By starting school later, students can retain more information, students can get enough sleep, and students can have fully functioning brains. The school administrators need to act immediately to alter the bell schedule in the morning, by delaying the time school starts.
