Baths Before facing the pressure from the royal court, Marie Antoinette liked to have time for herself and to baths everyday. Contrary to most of the people in Versailles, who thought water could pass through their pores and let the devil enter, she loved being clean. Her servants would prepare this daily ritual by adding scented sachets, which could contain almond powder, orange peel etc. Surrounded by delightful fragrances, the queen could therefore relax. Perfume As a very feminine queen, Marie Antoinette loved being surronded by flowers. She wanted her gardens to be the most wonderful : she would order many plants, flowers and trees from all around the world. She would also ask her perfumer Jean Louis Fargeon to create unique
The next famous French chef that greatly changed this great cuisine is Marie Antoine Carême. Born in to a poor family on June 8th 1784, Marie Antoine Carême was named in honor of Marie Antoinette. He preferred to use the name Antonin because of his name sake’s actions(Olguta). Being one of 15 kids he had to fend for himself at a very early age. Having been kicked out of his house, Antonin roamed the streets of Paris until a tavern keeper offered him lodging and work. That is how he got his first job in a kitchen. Within his 6 year stay at the tavern he went from being a pot washer to being a cook (Olguta). Without this experience Antoine would never have learned how to cook and we would never have his many great contributions to the French cuisine.
At the age of 20, Louis XVI was immature and required self-confidence. He desired to be a good king, but he faced colossal debt and rising resentment towards an absolute monarchy. His failure to victoriously address serious financial problems would pursue him for most of his reign. Louis lacked enough strength of character and decisiveness to fight the influence of court or give support to advocates in their attempt to improve France's government. But, Marie Antoinette was not much of help for Louis. In the 1780, Marie Antoinette began spending more time at her private castle, the Petit Trianon, which was on the Palace of Versailles and obviously almost always without Louis. Also she was wasting money on gowns and gambling. Around this time the first rumors appear about her relationship with Swedish diplomat Count Axel von Fersen. During the 1780s, with the French government falling into financial problems and poor intake of grain prices across the country, the extravagant lifestyle of Marie Antoinette rapidly became the topic of popular annoyance. Endless pamphlets accused the queen of ignorance, extravagance and adultery, some with indecent cartoons and others calling her "Madame
On a small peninsula, 70 miles southwest of New Orleans, there is a single stretch of road that leads into a fascinating place called Isle de Jean Charles. This is a place where living off the land is a way of life that is quickly becoming impossible to accomplish. The wetlands that used to provide nourishment for the plants and wildlife have now been replaced with the water from the Gulf and neither the freshwater marshes nor the vegetation were able to sustain this intrusion. Where there used to be a forest full of animals for trapping and hunting, there is salty water rippled only by poisoned carcasses of massive oak trees that still stand. The people living on the island are desperate and the Army Corps of Engineers has the power to help. The residents of Isle de Jean Charles deserve to see their children and grandchildren grow up on the land that they call home, but at what cost?

Leisure at the turn of the twentieth century was a new found type of freedom and entertainment, not only for the children, but for the entire family. It was a way for numerous families to spend quality time together but in a more modern and convenient way. Entertainment before the twentieth century consisted of household entertainment, such as board games, and “backyard games” like tennis, and football amongst others. When compared to leisure in the twentieth century, many of these activities were seen as “outdated”, as more and more people started to adopt the new ways of entertainment. Some examples were the openings of catalogs, sports, cinemas, amusement parks.
This source is also valuable because its purpose is to analyze Marie Antoinette’s contribution to the French Revolution. It looks at her social life—including her expenses—and also her husband’s actions that affected her reputation as the careless and apathetic Queen.
and she loved a little boy. And everyday the boy would come and he would gather her leaves and make them into crowns and play king

Dinner was to be followed by a walk through the gardens before returning to work. Often there were hunts and other recreational activities. And at the end of the day the King may decide to take part in one or more of the court pastimes such as cards, billiards, dances, receptions, concerts, etc. At supper everyone was to gather to eat together and this concluded the day's hard work. The dress code changed through the day slowly becoming more and more fancy. It was possible to tell the women from the men only when it was time to go to
Andres Le Nôtre, Versailles’ leading landscape architect, believed in the basic conception that landscape should be more impressive than the buildings it comprehends2. With over 800 hectares of gardens, the size of Versailles alone is quite daunting. Using forced perspective, Le Nôtre, further extended the site in the mind’s eye creating a scale incomparable to the surrounding villages3. No doubt those who visited the gardens were filled with awe, perhaps even fear. Versailles provided an almost urban environment, housing France’s aristocracy. Though the nobility was relatively pampered, there was no question that the king was in charge. Elaborate terracing, for example, gave the gardens hierarchical structure symbolizing feudal society, purposefully reinforcing the nobility’s servility by literally
