Martha Stewart was mostly known for her television shows, magazines, and books. Martha Stewart, Inc., which the company name later changed to Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, helped her reach her celebrity status of being on of “50 Most Powerful Women,” according to Fortune.
In 2002, her reputation of being a successful businesswoman took a plunge when rumors leaked regarding her involvement of insider trading of ImClone stocks. She took part in selling her ImClone stock after hearing news of the rejection of their new cancer drug. After being convicted, the affect of this scandal took a toll on both Martha and ImClone. After serving her sentence, Martha began to reconstruct her life in hopes to bounce back from the insider trading scandal. Today she has managed to become just as successful as before this incident. Martha, born as Martha Kostyra in 1941, began her path to fame as a model at thirteen years old. At a young age she had a fixation for cooking, decorating, and gardening. While attending college at Barnard College in Manhattan, she met Andy Stewart who she later married. After having one daughter, Alexis, Martha Stewart began working as a stockbroker on Wall Street. She worked as a stockbroker until 1972.
In the late 70’s she finally started what she is best known for today, cooking and house keeping. She first opened up her own store which consisted of gourmet food and catering. This helped her write her first book, which became a huge success. Martha
