Martin Luther's Accomplishments

Martin Luther was a man of great thought and constantly went against the feelings and views of other people of his time. Martin Luther was born on November 10th in 1483, in the Saxon town of Eisleben located in Germany. Martin was born of mother Margrethe, who many of his enemies thought of as being a whore and a bath attendant, yet Martin recalled her later on in life as someone who was hardworking and very able and willing to punish him if he had done wrong. Growing up Martin Luther King. Jr had a happy middle class life, but even with all of this he still noticed social problems. His father was a respected preacher, his mother was a college-educated musician, and his grandmother, who lived with them, was extremely fond of him. He was also close to his older sister and younger brother, who started college at fifteen.

Martin Luther, born in 1483, grew up in a devout Roman Catholic household, where the church stood at the center of his world. However, he suffered at the hand of his parents’ harsh criticism. His father had emerged from the feudal system into the new middle class as a successful Coppersmith. His desire was for his son to also climb the social ladder. To assist with his son’s success, Luther’s father was a fierce judge of the character of his son, and often punished him severely for his failures. From these experiences, Luther developed a low self-esteem and fear of failure, which encroached on every aspect of his life, including his theology.

Dr. Martin Luther King did many great things to help give people freedom and better their lives. He risked his life for the rights of others and in the end he helped make one of the biggest changes in American history. In the civil rights era Martin Luther King brought together the country to fight for one cause.

Imagine you were brutally beaten, or even killed because of your race and your family was threatened due to their religion. Imagine you lived in a place, where everywhere you went was segregated with signs that say “Whites only” and “Blacks only”. This is what life was like for Martin Luther King Jr. during the 1960’s until he died. Throughout his career, Martin Luther King Jr was a huge advocate for the Civil Rights Movement. His speeches, protests, group prayers, and work inspired many people of all ages to follow in his footsteps. Martin preached a different king of reaction to his people. He taught people that you do not have to be violent to be heard. Martin had many popular and inspiring speeches including Letter from Birmingham Jail, Beyond Vietnam, and I've Been to the Mountaintop. Most importantly he gave the people a voice. Martin Luther King Jr risked his life and his family's lives everyday in hopes to being able to see a better country. Without a doubt, Martin Luther King Junior was and is an important figure of our time. Martin Luther spent his life as a non-violent fighter for African American rights. (McGill 1). King was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. Throughout his childhood he had doubts about his religion, even though he came from a long line of pastors. Martin did well in school, he was an A average student, senior class president, and was given the “Most Outstanding Student” award. He attended Booker T. Washington High School, where he was also held the position of quarter back of the school’s football team. Then, in 1945 he enrolled in Atlanta’s Morehosue College at the age of only 15 years old because he skipped 11th and 12th grade. Then, in 1951 he attended Boston University until 1955. After graduating, Dr. King enrolled into Morehouse College in Atlanta in 1944 at age 15. In his younger years he questioned religion, however, this lead him to take a bible class which renewed his faith and that is when he found a new passion for being a minister. Benjamin E. Mays influenced King’s development because Mays was an outspoken supporter for racial equality and encouraged King to view Christianity as a loophole for social changes. Martin Luther was a great writer. He was born in 1483 in Eisleben, Germany. He secretly spent his early years as a monk and scholar. He would later become known as one of the most remembered figures in religious history. Luther has been known many years by his faith. In 1510 – 1511, Luther attended the University of Erfurt because his dad wanted him to be a lawyer. Later his studies led him to quit trying to become a lawyer and began to live life as a monk. His life as a monk came about because he was trapped in a storm and was struck by lightning. He called out to God for help saying he would become a monk if he saved him. So when the storm was over he kept his promise to God and became a monk.

The Renaissance was a period of societal rebirth in European civilization following the Middle Ages. New continents were being discovered, and the feudal system had begun to decline (“Renaissance”). Out of all these magnificent events, there is one person who stands out. He was the acclaimed founder of Protestant Reformation, Martin Luther, a German theologian who revolted against the tyranny of the Roman Catholic Church. People who agreed with Martin Luther were part of the Protestant Reformation (“The Reformation”).

Martin Luther was born in Germany in 1483. An influential figure in Western Christianity, he started the Protestant Reformation in 16th century as he nailed his 95 Theses to the Wittenberg Castle in Germany. Luther’s Theses included his objections against practices of Catholic church such as indulgences for absolving sins.

Martin Luther was a Monk, Priest and Theologian born in late 1483 in the German town of Eisleben. His father owned a copper mine and had always wished for his son to go into civil service. When Luther was seventeen he arrived at the University of Erfurt. By 1502, Luther had already received his bachelor’s degree and by 1505 he had a Master’s degree. The same year, while returning to University, he was caught in a tremendous thunderstorm. A lightening bolt struck near him and terrified, he cried out, "Help, St. Anne! I'll become a monk!”. Luther lived, and keeping to his promise, he dropped out of university and entered the monastery.

German is a West Germanic language that is mainly spoken in Central Europe. It is the most widely spoken and (co-) official language in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, South Tyrol (Italy), the German-speaking Community of Belgium, and Liechtenstein. It is also one of the three official languages of Luxembourg. German is the second most widely spoken Germanic language, after English. One of the major languages of the world, German is the first language of about 95 million people worldwide and the most widely spoken native language in the European Union. German also is the fourth most widely taught non-English language in the US (after Spanish, French and American Sign Language) and third in the EU (after English and French; at lower secondary level),the second most commonly used scientific language, as well as the fourth most widely used language on websites (after English, Russian and Japanese).

Martin Luther saw a need for reformation within the Catholic church, and took action. Throughout his life, he demonstrated many examples of the five solos: scripture alone, faith alone, grace alone, Christ alone, and for the glory of God alone. Luther came to this realization when he was in an all-consuming thunderstorm and promised God, that if He would deliver Luther from the storm, Luther would become a monk and commit himself to God. While in monk school, Luther realized how sinful he was and how wrong the catholic church was. He went in with a goal of reformation of the Catholic church to turn it back to the ways of God, but ended up creating a whole new apostolic.
