Maya Angelou: Quote Response To Personal Success

The meaning of "success" has numerous interpretations, whether it is your own or society's definition. Within Outliers author Malcolm Gladwell explains that being successful has nothing to do with what kind of person you are, so whether you are intelligent and hardworking or lazy and aloof, it depends on your circumstances growing up. Whether your parents happen to be immigrants, you are one of the smartest men in the country or you make a habit of practicing an activity for a certain amount of hours a day, your own personal success, according to Gladwell is defined by the conditions you grew up in; the idea of being successful varies from culture to culture, therefore, there is no definite meaning of success other than one's interpretation.

The inspiring African-American woman born in 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri has been one of the many influential voices of our time. Educating herself and having love for the arts helped mold her life into what she imagined becoming a poet, memoirist, novelist, educator, dramatist, producer, actress, historian, filmmaker, and even a civil rights activist. During her early years while still in High School Dr. Angelou experienced brutal racial discrimination directing her to the values of traditional African-Americans.

Maya has had lots of jobs, and she was pretty good at them too. She was a writer and a couple other things. Maya Was great friends with some people who have changed a lot.

Who defines success? We would like to believe that we all do. That it is our beliefs that conceive the idea of success in society. That the true definition of success is what we believe it is–what we make it to be. But we don’t define success, society does.

Perspectives of Success Everybody's views and ideas of success are different. Some think of money as success. Others think of dreams as success. Few people may even think love is success.

When trying to define the word success we can find other words with similar meanings. Words that can be used almost interchangeably with success, one such word is accomplish. Success and accomplish both indicate the end of a journey, a point that took a great deal of effort to reach. On the other hand, there is also an important difference in the two words. Success is a word that really hard to define, because everyone will have a different definition for this word. In fact, there no exact definition for the word "success".
