I always had interest in a clinical research career that serves a large number of people by emphasizing more on research studies by exploring whether a medical strategy, treatment or device is safe and effective for humans. As a graduate in medicine, my strong base in the medical field continually challenged and motivated me to expand my skills in patient care. Being a medical assistant can be a satisfying career choice for those who take pleasure in helping others, have superior communication skills, and are able to multitask. Medical assistants are constantly on the look out to help patients and health professionals. Affection and compassion are personality traits for a career as a medical assistant. Being a medical assistant is a phenomenal career and a rewarding one too.

My goals are to get certified as Certified Nursing Assistant, then get certified as a Medical Assistant while I pursue my Bachelor’s degree in Biology. Afterwards, I will enter graduate school to specialize in cardiology and become a cardiac physician. I figured becoming a certified nursing assistant then a medical assistant will give me a closer feel to doing what I love besides shadowing doctors and nurses as I already do.

The medical profession I’ve recently decided to pursue was a certified medical assistant. You will need some type of plan before you decide to pursue in anything. It could be as simple as writing down your short and long term goals on a piece of paper .In my case, I always have something that motivates me because that will help me stay focused on achieving my goals. My motivation is knowing I will wake up to something I love doing on a daily basis once I get my career started. My chosen degree program is Associates of Applied Science in Medical Assisting at Kaplan University. I am currently a online student. I have been doing some research of my program and I have came up with a lot of very interesting facts. Becoming a medical assistant is a good choice as a career. This career is continuing to grow a lot. A medical assistant is an enjoyable job, even though it can be difficult at sometimes people still enjoy the job. They mainly stay busy during the day because a lot of patients come in.

The employment outlook is excellent for Medical Assistants, because they can multitask and is able to work administrative and clinical positions. Medical Assistants are sometimes responsible for buying and medical equipment in the doctor's office. They also can act as Office Managers. Medical Assistants plan the doctor's schedule and type letters, and bills. Many Doctors need at least one Medical Assistant, but practices, clinics, and hospitals need many. LPNs are offered benefits packages that include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), college savings plan, and prepaid legal plan. LPN cannot perform administrative duties like a Medical Assistant. During my fourth year in college, I enrolled in a course called Psychology of Health Disparities. My decision to enroll in this course stemmed from my experience as a medical assistant, and my duty involved working in clinical settings low socioeconomic status individuals (SES). Recently while working at MedRite Urgent Care in New York City I was awarded the role of head medical assistant. In this role I am in charge of making sure the other medical assistants are doing their jobs properly, become aware of new protocols, make sure the rooms are properly stocked with supplies, and assist in training the new staff as they join our team. I have learned from this role that it is important to not only lead my staff, but also be a part of their team because when we work together we can provide more efficient medical care. The staff feels comfortable coming to me with questions and I am always encouraging them to share any suggestions they have about improving our system. On a more specific, personal level as to why I want to attend the Physician Assistant Program at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, the reasons are numerous.
