Volcanoes exist all around the world. A volcano is where ash, gases, and molten rock from 30-120 feet underground erupts onto the surface. The ash, gases, and molten rock all stay in something inside a volcano called a magma chamber. The larger the eruption the more gas the magma has. The gases include water vapor, carbon dioxide, and sulfur dioxide. The two types of lava are aa (ah-ah) and pahoehoe. The types of volcanoes are shield, strato, silicic caldera complexes, monogenetic fields, mid-ocean ridges, and flood basalts. Mount Vesuvius is located in Italy, Europe in the city Naples. It is 1281 meters tall. The longitude is 14.43 East and the latitude is 40.82 North. Mount Vesuvius is the only active volcano on the mainland of Europe
A volcano is defined as a mountain or hill that usually has a cup like crater at the summit. A volcano can be compared to a vent in the earths crust through which lava, ashes and steam are expelled (Volcano, n.d.). There are three main types of volcanoes that scientist have discovered active, dormant, and extinct (howstuffworks.com). Active volcanoes are the ones which have erupted recently, or are expected to blow soon (howstuffworks.com). For example Kilauea volcano on Hawaii is the world’s most active volcano (volcanodiscovery.com). A dormant volcano is one that hasn’t erupted in a long while but has a chance erupt again in the future (howstuffworks.com). Best example there is of a dormant volcano is Mauna Kea which is one of the five mountains that make up the big island of Hawaii (Crain, 2009). And extinct volcanoes are the ones that erupted thousands of years ago and has no possibility of erupting again (howstuffworks.com). An extinct volcano is mount Buninyong which is located in Austria the last time this volcano erupted was a little over ten centuries ago and is now somewhat a tourist attraction.
What is a volcano: A volcano is a mountain created by the earth. It also creates a hole where molten rock (lava) erupts. A volcano is filled of magma but when the magma erupts and is out of the volcano it is now called lava. When a volcano erupts it fills the air with lava fragments. A volcano can cause a lot of destruction like tsunamis, flash floods, mudflows, rockfalls, and earthquakes. Most volcanoes are located where the tectonic plates meet. Most
Pompeii and Herculaneum blossomed near Mount Vesuvius, an active volcano that nobody knew about. At the time 20,000 people lived in Pompeii and 5,000 people lived in Herculaneum. Pompeii was a beautiful place and loved by many. Herculaneum was loved by many also, the wealthy Romans liked going to Herculaneum for vacation. The two places were the main spots to go in Italy, they were enjoyed by some and loved by many.
Ancient Italy is known for many different things. It is a peninsula surrounded by the Tyrrhenian, Mediterranean, Adriatic, Ionian, and Ligurian Sea. France, Switzerland, Slovenia, also Croatia borders it. (see appendix A) The Ancient time period lasted from 752 B.C.E to 476 C.E. Pompeii is located in the south west coast of Italy. It had a population of about twenty thousand people. Several interesting things about volcanos and Pompeii include its destruction, the science behind volcanoes, the environmental impact, and how it changed over time.
As the youngest and most southeastern volcano on Hawaii 's big island, Kilauea has been suggested to be the world’s most active volcano; having recorded 61 historical eruptions, not including the continuous lava-lake activity in Halema 'uma 'u Crater (Life Stages of Hawaiian Volcanoes). Kilauea is at it 's shield-forming stage referencing volcanology. During this stage the excretion systems within the volcanoes are the most efficient at transporting magma to the surface since over 95% of lava gets erupted. As well as the constant eruption, the magma chamber of the volcano fully develops to serve as a station for older, less dense magma. The magma chamber migrates upwards as a volcano grows and the Kilauea volcano magma chamber
On August 24th in the year 79, the eruption of Mount Vesuvius destroyed the entire town of Pompeii, Italy. Pompeii was located around ninety miles south of the capital city, Rome, and was founded in 600 B.C. The city of Pompeii lurked in the shadows of the huge volcano, Mount Vesuvius. The volcano was measure to be approximately sixty-five hundred feet high. During the eruption of Mount Vesuvius the entire town was demolished and townspeople were killed, and what was left of the city was preserved under the enormous amounts of volcanic ash. However, there have been two accounts of witnesses from the event, Pliny the Elder and Pliny the Younger. The town of Pompeii was rediscovered in 1595 while constructing an aqueduct in Italy. The remains of the town were few, but archeologists were able to preserve some portions of the town. Some scientist and archeologist suppose that there are other villages that lie under the ashes of Mount Vesuvius (Eruption of Mount Vesuvius begins). This is one of the earliest records of volcanic activity that has occurred throughout history and a slight preview of volcanoes, in general, volcano types, and volcano hazards that come from volcanoes and their eruptions.
Our new subject in World History was on the Eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Mount vesuvius was located in Pompeii, Rome, now located in the Gulf of Naples Campania, Italy. It was a very destructive volcano that erupted 79 AD, August 24. I was very excited to see this Volcano and the the only way I could go there was with my time traveling machine. In my backpack I put some clothes, textbooks , and tools. I couldn’t wait any longer from excitement so I entered in and clicked the commencement button to start my spectacular trip.
The eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD was a pyroclastic event discussed in greater detail over the course of this essay.
A Volcano is a mountain or hill that has a crater running through it filled with lava, rocks, gas and hot vapour that will erupt. There are three types of volcanoes, there is the Cinder Cone volcano which is the smallest, the Shield volcano which is in most cases the biggest and the Composite volcano which can be the most deadly.
In 79 AD, one of the most famous volcano eruptions occurred-the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. This volcano dominated the skyline of the Roman city Pompeii. After its eruption, this ancient city, once bustling with trade, became buried under a thick layer of volcanic ash. The once popular city came to a halt-it was never rebuilt and almost forgotten about until in the 18th century Pompeii was rediscovered by archeologists. This town was excavated and provided an amazing and accurate showing of the everyday life of the Roman people because many people were unintentionally preserved with little to no time to escape the tragedy. Most people know about the city Pompeii and its tragic tale. However, not many people are aware of the other cities that
In 79 AD the towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum were destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.

Furthermore, Mount Vesuvius is rich in history and detail to be and learned from the age of the volcano to the types of rocks that can be found around and inside the walls of the volcano. Mount Vesuvius is a volcano located in near one of Italy’s largest Naples overlooking the bay. It is the only active volcano in Europe at this time that has produced a series of eruptions before the infamous eruption in 79A.D. to its last eruption in 1944.
Mount Vesuvius is the only active volcano in mainland Europe and is considered one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world! It’s elevation is over 4,000 feet (1,219 m) and the distance around the base is 30 miles (48.3 km). This humongous mountain is located in Ottaviano, Metropolitan City of Naples, Italy, which is now known for its ancient castles and history.
There are three types of volcanoes on earth. They are composite, cinder cone and shield volcanoes. They are all over the world and depending on what kinds of volcanoes they are they would be in different areas because some volcanoes have little lava and some have a lot that can be very dangerous if they were to irrupt.
