Some of the Mexican Immigrants come illegally which is not counted to the percentage. The reason most immigrants come from Mexico is because “Most being males, move over to America (some illegally) to earn money then send back to their family since the United States has a higher wage.” (Jackson, 2016). This concludes why Mexicans immigrant up to us.
China is 3 way tied for 2nd highest percentage at 5%. Mainly the wealthy Chinese immigrants come to the United states. This is because there is horrible pollution, and/ or they don’t like how the education
It is logical that two-thirds of Mexican-American population in the United States live in Texas, California, and Arizona because these three states are the closest state to the Mexican border. An immigrant that is coming to the United States has the emotion and perception that draws to a country of opportunities; that will live in a country that will be friendly. However, most of the time, immigrant do not know that they are coming to live in a different culture, and because of that, they need to experience and adjustment in many ways, and an adjustment that will help them to do many things with confidence.
Most of the immigrants leave their home country and migrate to the United States because they can live in freedom, practice their religion and make the most out of their life (Arizaga 2006).
Immigration is one of the most important issues that the United States faces and thus has misperceptions such as how immigration affects the workforce and economy, the size and composition of the immigrants, and the budgetary impact of unauthorized immigration. As of 2012, more than 40 million immigrants lived in the United States, the population accounting for about 13 percent of the total population of U.S. The same year showed that unauthorized immigrants were 11.7 million, accounting for 3.7 percent of all the people of the U.S and roughly 5.2 percent of the labor force. Most of the illegal immigrants are Latino who is primarily from Central America and Mexico. 46 percent of all the immigrants in the
Today, immigration is a heated topic and everyone views it in a different way. Immigration is the movement of people to a different country where they were not originally from. This should not be mixed up with emigration, which has a different meaning. While immigration is when someone joins a new group, emigration occurs when someone leaves that group. With that being said, there are many reasons why people immigrate to a different place. Some of these reasons may include better opportunities, to connect with families, or the freedom of religion. Whatever the reason is, immigration is an important reason and it affects everyone involved. Between 1950 and 2010, 92 million people moved from their original country to someplace else. They came
Latinos have been the hard working class of America that has been underappreciated throughout the centuries. They have been a significant force that pushed forward the advancement of America with providing their back breaking labor as a contribution. Over the past centuries Latinos have flooded the United States in the hopes for better opportunities and better pay. Most were undocumented illegal immigrants brought in for cheap labor to work on farms that covered most of the west coast. These Latinos had little to no rights and have been taken advantage of, with being compensated for their hard work for little to nothing of value. They can not do anything, for that they had no word. This was a great upset throughout the Latino community that
The first immigrants to set foot on American soil where the Europeans, and after the discovery, many other people from around the world began to settle here and make this country their forever home. Since afterward the population of immigrants has increased over the decades because several perceive this country has a place of opportunity to express who they are individually or has a group. several of these groups are more outstanding than other like the Hispanic community, many of these people come from the south travelling thousands of miles, day and night wanting to cross the border that divides the Mexico and the United States. Those who cross the border are risking their lives to get away from the violence in their own country. Others leave their country
U.S. as an immigration country, has a long history of immigration. It is a complex demographic phenomenon that has been a major source of population growth and cultural change of the United States. People came here because of varies reason, the major reason among them are fleeing crop failure, land and job shortage, rising taxes, and famine. Nearly 12 million people immigrate to the United States between 1870 and 1900, making it the world largest immigrate country.
The nation's 42.4 million immigrants In 2014 the highest number ever in american history. The 13.3 percent of the
Some immigrants like economic migrants, come to America because of job availability and more money. For example, in Mexico poverty and unemployment is a major problem, and by 2012 55.3 million out of 120 million were poor. The majority of the Mexican population are farmers, and they live in rural areas with very extreme temperatures and the poor quality land makes it hard to actually farm. This culture causses struggle for these Mexican families. Due to these high unemployment and poverty rates they migrate to America in order to support their family and further retain a reasonable standard of living. Another reason Mexicans will come into America is because they are fleeing violence. In Mexico, there is very high crime rates, and homicide rates are around 10-14 per 100,000 people. With drugs, in the past 5 years, more than 47, 500 have been killed. Therefore, a reason some Mexicans will come to America is because of the lower crime rates, and having a more reliable and stable home to live. Additionally, we see this reason of migration from immigrants from El Salvador. In El Salvador, there are many crimes and violence gangs. It is the murder capital in the world, with nearly one homicide per hour in the first three months of 2016. Its
(Camarota October, 2011) As can be seen in Figure 2, Latin America and Asia are the two areas where the largest numbers of immigrants originated from with over 11.5 million of the 13.8 million total immigrants who entered the United States in 2000 to 2010. Mexico was the single largest country of origin with over 4 million immigrants while another 4 million immigrated to the United States from the entire continent of Asia. (Camarota October, 2011) As can be seen in Figures 3A and 3B, in 2010, Hispanics accounted for 49.9 percent of the immigrant labor force and Asians accounted for 21.8 percent. Also from Figures 3A and 3B, in 2010, of the 22.3 million immigrant labor force, 5.9 million (26.5%) had less than a high school diploma, 5.6 million (25.3%) were high school graduates, 3.8 million (17.1%) had some college and 6.9 million (31.1%) had a bachelor’s degree or higher. To summarize, nearly 14 million new immigrants arrived in the decade ending in 2010. Most of these immigrants originated from Mexico or Asia. Most of the immigrants in the labor force as of 2010 had a high school diploma or less.
One fact about Mexico is that it has multiple push and pull factors. A few examples of some of Mexico’s pull factors are because of a beautiful landscape, lower costs of living, and affordable properties. These are all major factors in the moving process. Unfortunately, Mexico has a large amount of push factors as well. Some of these push factors are urbanization in the West, violence, and migration policies. It is clear by the amount of people migrating from, and to, Mexico that these are big factors in migration. According to Fox News, “The Pew Research Center found that slightly more than 1 million Mexicans and their families, including American-born children, left the U.S. for Mexico from 2009 to 2014” (Fox News). This shows how much pull factors are involved in Mexican immigration. Push and pull factors are a huge part of one of the world’s biggest immigration issues, but their are other factors as well.
Various groups of ethnicity have come to the United States in past years in fluctuating statistics and populations. However, the most prominent group of immigrants in most years have been Hispanic. A while back when my mom and I were discussing the 43 missing Ayotzinapa students she abruptly remembered a powerful quote from her Facebook timeline, it read: “Quisieron enterrarnos, pero se les olvido que somos semillas” (They tried to bury us. They didn't know we we're seeds). The message resonated within me ever since; it reminds me that no matter how many struggles I encounter in my life, I’ll always prevail.
