Michael Gerard Tyson was born in Brooklyn, NYC June 30, 1966. His upbringing in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn was mainly in the streets. Tyson’s dad abandoned the family for a street life, leaving Mike’s mother to care for three kids. His mom, brother, and sister were forced to move from a nice apartment in Bedford-Stuyvesant to the tough neighborhood for financial reasons when Mike was 8 yrs old. I believe a Psychological Theory could have been applied. More specifically, the Psychodynamic Theory, the Personality Theory, and the Cognitive Theory. He has attended therapy off and on through the years and is diagnosed with manic depression and bi-polar disorder. He has personally spoke of his impulse control issues as an adult and his constant struggles with anger. As a child he was constantly in trouble with the law and not learning from his arrests and punishment. Drugs and alcohol became a big part of his childhood and at age 11 he tried cocaine for the first time. This no doubt had an effect on his cognitive development at this stage of his life. There was also inappropriate sexual behavior in his upbringing that was witnessed by young Tyson as his mother had sex with various men in the bed while he slept (Tannenbaum,

Researchers have supported the psychodynamic theory by claiming that people with disorder have been subjected to family violence and parental conflict or divorce. Ted’s grandfather was said to be violent towards Ted and his other siblings. I believe that Ted’s environment played a huge role in his developing antisocial disorder and that these factors would be listed under axis IV of the DSM-IV-TR.
I have always wondered how he wound up in this life of crime. He was such a nice kid, very loving and compassionate and smart, too. What made him choose this path? Was it the absence of a father figure or perhaps the example his mother set for him? Was it the drugs or the money? Was it the people he socialized with or was it just in his genes?
It was more a father and son type relationship than anything. Encyclopedia.com gave an example of this relationship as follows, “Slowly, he and Camelle brought Tyson out of his shell, nurturing his aspirations and overcoming his self-doubts.” This relationship was a very positive relationship and kept him out of trouble and on the path for greatness. Mike Tyson was unknown when he first came on the scene. Mike became a powerhouse and won almost every match.

Except this time was different; not because Mike Tyson was going to win the title bout, but an event that happened during the match so gut wrenching, that it changed the way boxing was looked at forever. It was a normal day for Jeff, grinding out another day of work to try and achieve his dreams of owning his own small business, when he realizes today was the day. Today was when Mike Tyson was going to try and gain the heavyweight title from Evander Holyfield. “I think I remember
Furthermore, his childhood experience with domestic violence might have played a role in his negative behavior. For example, he might have felt that when you are angry it is normal to hit and yell at people, which resulted in him fighting at school.

The sport known as Mixed Martial Arts was first started in the Greek Olympics in 648 BC it was known as pankration and started out as a blending of two sports, wrestling and boxing but barely had any rules. The only rules were no biting and gouging the others eyes. Pankration means all of might. Pankration used boxing which is punching and dodging basically, also it used Greco-Roman wrestling which takes place on a giant circle and they can’t perform attacks on the legs but have to get their opponents upper body (waist or above) and throw them on the ground and pin them but whereas pankration you hit each other and knock your opponent out.

Tyson describes how early man would identify stars via the use of constellations that tied in with various myths and beliefs, such as the Pleiades. Tyson describes the work of Edward Charles Pickering to capture the spectra of multiple stars simultaneously, and the work of the Harvard Computers or "Pickering's Harem", a team of women researchers under Pickering's mentorship, to catalog the spectra. This team included Annie Jump Cannon, who developed the stellar classification system, and Henrietta Swan Leavitt, who discovered the means to measure the distance from a star to the earth by its spectra, later used to identify other galaxies in the

In the Film The Boxer, the main character Danny, a catholic boxer in Northern Ireland, gets caught up in the conflict between the Irish Nationalists and the Unionists and Loyalists known as “The Troubles”. He spends fourteen years in prison for un-specified charges and is released into an Ireland still embroiled in the same conflict.
