Compare and Contrast Essay "The Most Dangerous Game" and "The Cask of Amontillado" are both well regarded and well known short stories. I intend to go over each separately giving a brief non-spoiler summary. Once I've talked about each separately I will begin comparing and contrasting and then conclude with my final thoughts. Both are amazing stories in my opinion, but which one is better? This paper is intended to allow you to make your own judgements based from my work. While not being a psychological horror, "The Most Dangerous Game" utilizes the trick to not show the final battle, and allows the reader to fill in the details by themselves. Another commonality they share is that they are both timeless stories and they do not date themselves heavily with pop culture references the exception of this some now out-of date language that is not used any more. Both use deeper meanings and themes that stand the test of time, including the morality of hunting and the mind of a murderer. These two idea’s will remain intriguing for years to come. It was hard for me to come up with my conclusion on both stories. Ultimately I consider “The Cask of Amontillado" the better story from a literary and artistic perspective. It’s more provocative and has a deeper more personal meaning because it is a first-person story. It truly shows the psyche of a murderer in ways I never thought possible, and for that reason it will stay with me for a long time. I personally enjoyed "The Most Dangerous Game" more because its lighter tone was more enjoyable and as result more fun to read. It's kind of like 2001 A Space Odyssey, as it is a remarkably interesting and deep movie if I have the time to dissect its many meanings, but if I just want to watch a fun movie to relax and enjoy then I'm going
