Most people do not know that there are a lot of medical discoveries in the rain forest. Tropical rain forest help to balance the ecosystem and our human existence. For centuries, rain forest have supported medicines due to its rich medical plant life. This also saves many people’s lives.
Most people wonder what Tropical rain forest are. Tropical rain forest are mostly to be found as warm, wet climates. They contain many species. Today rain forest cover very little as in six percent of Earth’s Surface. Rain forest hold the most productive and complex ecosystem on the whole Earth. All of the plants contribute to the Earth’s oxygen. All of the plants and trees can cure many deadly diseases.
There is more rain forest than people

Periwinkle is the most active plant and covers most of the forest floor, also is a medicine to fight tumors and able to treat some Leukemia. Today over one hundred pharmacies use the braches and plants for medicine. Twenty-five percent of cancer fighting medicines are found in rain forest.
There are also many trees used for medicine too. For example one of the trees such as the Annatto tree has an oil extract of the tree. The Annatto tree contains carotenoids bixin, used for protection against UV rays. It also helps to lower blood pressure and is a powerful bug repellent. The Cocoa tree is one of the few that is very high in medicinal value, that makes it one of the most important rain forest tree. This one and only tree produces over one hundred fifty chemicals that can come from its leaves, seeds, fruit, and bark. It is made to heal or to treat anxiety, laziest, fever, coughs, kidney stones, and large cuts and bruises. The Trumpet tree is a popular tree used extensively in traditional medicine in Central and South America. Every part of the tree; leaves, fruits, flowers, bark, and roots are used to treat breathing illnesses and arthritis. The Cinchona tree is a large poisonous vine that grow along the tree and is full of alkaloids. It is used for treating bruises, fever, swelling in you
Searching for medicine in the rainforest is a good idea due to the number of species present, the high level
More than half of the world’s tropical rainforests can be found in Central and South America, however they are also present in south eastern Asia and Africa. All of the world’s tropical rainforests can be found at the approximate location of -20 degrees latitude, also known as the area between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. These types of areas exist because of the specific climate, soil types, and diversity present in these regions. This specific area falls in the equatorial and tropical zone and are therefore their climates are controlled by the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) and it’s low pressure centers around the equator. Winds present are moist equatorial (mE) and moist tropical
Only one percent of the known plant and animal species have been examined for medicine potential, but 70% of the 3000 plant species identified as having anti-cancer qualities are found in South American rainforests and others worldwide. These various species aid the science world in a number of different ways:
Native Americans used the berries, roots, and leaves of the plant to make different teas to put in sweat baths. They did this to cure rheumatism, fevers, malaria, dizziness, dysentery, stomach aches, and colic. The American Beautyberry has another practical use. Farmers in the early part of the 20th century crushed the leaves of the plant to repel mosquitos, and other biting bugs. They would put the crushed leaves under the harnesses of their horses, mules, and also on themselves. With its obvious beauty (given the name) and practical uses, this plant would make a great addition to any
Have you ever thought about what the Tropical Rainforest is? Where the rainforest is located, the animals, climate, dangers or threats to the forest? Some people think that the rainforest is just some other forest, but their wrong! The rainforest is the most important forest in the U.S. You should go check it out!
Traditionally, Witch-hazel branches were used to locate underground sources of water, but Hamamelis virginiana was also well known as a medicinal plant by Native Americans. “Extracts from the leaves, twigs, and bark were used to reduce inflammation, stop bleeding, and check secretions of the mucous membranes” (Anzelone). A number of
The Earth is losing “upwards of 80,000 acres of tropical rainforest daily.” To put this into perspective this is 1/9 of the size of the state of Rhode Island that is being destroyed daily. Not only is the destruction of the rain forest causing problems for only the organisms living within the rainforest but also for people and industries worldwide. We need to save our rainforests so that we can continue to survive and also help the animals that live within the areas being destroyed. People are cutting these areas down for more development and empty land but causing more harm than good in the long run.
And that isn’t quite surprising considering that people don’t know that there are organizations out. The tropical rainforest is located between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. The tropical rainforest is in parts of South America, Africa, and in Southern Asia. The tropical rainforests living specimens are all in the food web, most are plants and animals. At the bottom of the food web are the plants. Many plants get eaten by herbivores. Plants, though, use photosynthesis to get their energy and food. Some plants are the Brazilian Nut Tree, the Strangler Fig Tree, and the Kapok Tree. In the middle are the prey, they are herbivores and the predators eat them. Some animals are the toucan, red-eyed tree frog, and the orangutan. At the top are the predators, they are known as the strongest of the food web. The predators will always eat the weakest below them like prey. Some animals include the tiger, red tailed hawk and
Pharmacogonsy is the combination of the analysis and application of medicinal drugs which have been acquired from natural sources such as plants and animals. Discovery of the Cinchona bark was said to have been made by Spanish monks while they were in Peru. The use of the bark was made known to them by observing the indigenous Indians and by self-discovery. The bark was later made known to the Europeans by Jesuits. It was administered as a hot bitter drink for its medicinal purposes. Cinchona Succiruba was said to have acquired its appellation from the countess of a Spanish town called Cinchon who was cured of malaria by the use of the cinchona succiruba bark from the 17th century. There are other species of Cinchona but C. Succiruba has the most alkaloid content in comparison to the others as its bark contains 6 -16 % alkaloid content of which consists of quinidine and quinine which are the two main pharmacologically active
Now that you know how long these berries have been trusted and used by a lot of traditional medicine practitioners and their patients, you might wonder why they like using it so much.
Before the time of imperialism, native people had already lived in what is Canada today for many centuries. Back then, the native people used the plants for healing illness. (example?) It can also be used for
Tropical rainforests are a curious world filled with wonder. Tropical Nature: Life and Death in the Rain Forests of Central and South America has opened my eyes to another world that I had not paid much attention to. Adrian Forsyth and Ken Miyata introduced a new world of wonder filled with so much diversity. Ecology and evolution go hand and hand, and the rainforest—a beautiful ecosystem driven by the climate [biome]—is a phenomenal example as hot spot for evolution. From the humidity, the high temperatures, the canopy of the trees, and so much more. Diversity thrives in this environment, and it 's obvious from the variety of species that have been found inhabiting such areas.
Tropical rainforests, nowadays, are endangered and already facing some destructions. Also, the species that are living there are slowly decreasing and also becoming endangered. These are some of the reasons why tropical rainforests are considered biodiversity hotspots for rainforests are already losing their original habitat.
Anticancer drugs are used to prohibit the maturation and productivity of cancerous cells and tumours (4). These particular drugs travel to different locations within the body and ultimately destroy these cells. Anticancer drugs are used in conjunction with other forms of treatment such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy and sometimes surgery depending on the level of metastasis (4). Camptothecin (CPT) is a potent anti-tumour agent (1) and it is derived from the plant Camptotheca acuminate (Nyssaceae), Xi Shu which in translation means the Happy Tree. It is predominately located in Tibet and Western China (3) and belongs to the Tupelo family of trees. In this region the plant is used as a protector and a barrier against excessive sun exposure as well as in Chinese medicines and natural remedies. Its quick growing nature and tall structure is what makes it so readily available. With the stem, the root and the seeds in the plant all containing the active ingredient Camptothecin, ample amounts of the drug is obtainable from each individual tree. Moist and warm conditions are the best growing conditions for the C.acuminate plant which many try to imitate in other parts of the world to grow the plant themselves seeing as its use is very desireable.2
Rainforest are found further north, or south from the equator, this is because they are found in coastal cooler regions. The Amazon rainforest is found in South America it covers two million square miles of land. South America has tropical heat and is wet. The equator cuts through South America around Ecuador. The equator is where warm, moist air rises that forms clouds, which produce a lot of rain. A majority of the land around the equator has tropical rainforests, and South America is home to the largest rainforest The Amazon Rainforest. Rainforest are substantial for vegetation this is because this biome has three different layers. The top layer is the canopy which is the tree tops that cover much of the land space with shade; this prevents too much sunlight reaching the ground which keeps the moisture in the ground. The second layer is the small plants such as ferns, vines and palm trees. The last layer is the ground which is covered wet leaves because the ground is moist this allows things to decompose quicker and send nutrients into the soil.
