I think the name "Mr. Hockey" is a good name for Gordie Howe. One reason, is he has been playing hockey for a long time. For example, he first played when he was 18 years old and stopped playing when he was 69 years old. Another nickname that I think would be good for him is "a Great One." First off, he became an idol for many - including Wayne Gretzky For example, Wayne Gretzky got the name "The Great One."

Hockey. How bad is it to be a heartless player? The dilemma with Eric is that he feels a flaming fire in him but he can’t even explain it to anybody. He can’t even explain it to his parents that really like watching him play. Chris Lynch’s IceMan offers insight on Eric’s experience with hockey and how it shaped his life and just generally made him who he is. Eric is 14 years old. He is an average hockey player on his team. He talks about the games he had played and what he thought about how they went, and how he felt during the game. After reading the story Iceman by Chris Lynch it gave me a lot of thoughts about how to act in distinctive situations. I don’t recommend this text to everybody because it is predominantly about hockey. This fiction

To begin, Gord Downie is significant to Canadian history because he made Indigenous issues more prevalent to Canada’s modern day society. To start, Gord Downie helped bring awareness to Indigenous people by writing book and an album about their struggles called ‘The Secret Path Project’. The Secret Path project highlighted the death of Chanie Wenjack, a 12-year-old Ojibway boy who died from hunger and exposure after trying to find his way home, on foot, from school. The little boy's body was found along railroad tracks, approximately 60 kilometres from the school(5). Gord Downie's goal for this was to educate Canadians about this horrible problem, and he made an effort to bring non-Indigenous peoples and Indigenous peoples closer together(5).
Maurice “Rocket” Richard, a legendary hockey player of the mid-twentieth century for the Montreal Canadiens, is recognized for his profound dedication and impact for the game of hockey. His influence, nevertheless, extends beyond hockey, especially for French Canadians in Quebec. As French-English relations in the province and in the National Hockey League were strained during the 1950s and 1960s, French Canadians looked to Richard as a culturally significant figure. While Maurice Richard himself would say that he was simply a hockey player, his effect on French Canadians impacted politics and culture in Quebec. This essay will argue that Maurice Richard’s identity as a French Canadian was in constant struggle within the English
On May 9th 1965 a leader was born, and that leader was Steve Yzerman. Yzerman was born in Cranbrook, British Columbia. He began skating when he was a mere 3 years old, but was still a little too young to play organized hockey with his older brother Mike, who was two years older. At age 5 Yzerman started playing organized ice hockey, but really couldn’t skate all that well. In fact, his first gino (goal) was scored because he had slipped up in front of the adversaries net and an opposing defenseman bounced the puck off a teammate. Since Yzerman was the closest to the puck, he was given credit for the goal. This was certainly not a foundation suitable for a legendary career.

Buddy Sulliman, by the way, suited up with the 1955-56 Glace Bay ‘Cinderella’ Miners hockey team that we featured recently on these pages. “In his day, Dad was a real tough player who had a reputation,” said Sulliman. “I used to watch him play when I was a kid and I thought games only lasted one period because he’d always have his gear over his shoulder because he got thrown out for fighting or something. He once told me, ‘If you get into a fight on the ice, let the other guy know he was in one.’ That bit of advice lasted throughout my entire career.”

Sometimes it is easy to forget the game played on frozen ponds and backyard rinks, and get lost in the overwhelming professional sport known as hockey. However, we strive to remember that hockey became Canada's game because it made our never-ending winter months more bearable . The game gradually became a sport, then an entertainment industry. It seems like the lockout was one of the biggest news stories of the year. Part of the amazing nature of the game is that it's origins are fairly vague. However, we always remember that hockey is our game. It may not be our official sport, like lacrosse is, but hockey is what Canada seems to be most well-known for, and it continues to have immense influence on our free society, with its unique style
