Drone is the constant note just like deum verum the drone just follows the melody and played parallel. However, this system gradually disappeared and new system is beginning. For an example, “Sumer is icumen in” has special drone worked independently from the tune. When there are two different notes played one after another, it is the beginning of chord progression. Chord progression is the heart of western harmony that the harmony does not stay static and it moves. Whenever the note in the melody collides with the two supporting drone, three-note chord is created and three-note chord is the basic of western harmony.
Furthermore, harmony also contributes to the structural design of music. The arrangement of melodic lends itself to hierarchical design more noticeably than does harmony. This is because repetition of patterned material more obvious in melody then it is in harmony. The pattern of frequency of vibration that created within an instrument named as harmonics. According to the video of Goodall, when plucking a string of harp, it vibrates at different frequencies, it may two or more different notes offer. It is creating the hierarchical of notes and

Prior to this class I had been in both chorus and band, along with general music classes through fifth grade. Although, I did not have very much knowledge on music history or the many different music composers. My knowledge in music was mainly revolved around music theory and harmony. When the semester began I was not positive what was in store for me, however what I was sure about was two things. One, I would love whatever we learn for I have a deeply rooted love for music. And two, I would leave this class with an abundance of knowledge. Now that it is the end of the semester I can say with confidence that both of these are true Different aspects of this class and several pieces of information will be spoken about thoroughly in the next number of paragraphs.
Music is an extremely important part of human life and has been part of human life for thousands of years. Music can be linked with many different art forms such as art and language; these too are distinct expressions of humans. This particular expression has survived and outlived ancient languages and could possibly be older than any form of language we know. It also serves the same purpose as language, to convey meaning. Music is a way of bringing people together, and is used as a social ritual. In human life music is part of culture and it is also important historically. Music also contributes to the economy, as it is a means of making money as well as part of human leisure.

In this video he is playing the electric guitar and singing “Fire”, accompanied with a drum and a bass. The guitar and the bass are both chord instruments, but the drum, instead it is percussion instrument. This melody it is easy to remember since it catch the attention of the public with its rhythm. The harmony in this song is dissonant since it has a lack of harmony. In a dissonant chord, however, some of the notes and their harmonics are so close together that two notes will stimulate the same set of auditory nerve fibers. The harmony determines how we perceive music since

“The system of understanding characteristics of that individual’s society, or of some subgroup within that society” (Trumbull and Pacheco 1). For example, being American could be your cultural identity, but for as long as you live in America you will be classified as an American and in that ethnic group. Being an American can be known as the main society, but an example of a subgroup could be Music and its culture within itself. Music is the society I personally belong in and is classified as my ethnic or cultural group. Music helps with my cultural identity because that is how I relate to the society that is around me and helps enhance my ethnic identity. Music also enhances my heritage because I am going to try to start a tradition of playing music in a band and try and influence the next generations of the family to play music. Music completely changes my perspective of the world and how I see others.
Harmony is the vital element of the music because it creates the pace, phase, and the sound of a melody. In essence, for a song to achieve its musicality, it must have harmony. Harmony is one of the aspects that make the music sweet in the people’s ears. The intervals, octaves and many other elements of music make up the harmony implying that music cannot be music without harmony. Therefore, harmony is one of the elements that enhance the perception of a piece of music such as Fire by the

“controlled” by music and harmony and numerical relationships that could be the best way to express this harmony.
The key to creating a harmony is incorporating and embracing the uniqueness of the individual notes. As a pianist and a ballet dancer, I am quite familiar with this concept in its literal sense. In regard to my personal interpretation of this concept, I believe that I was able to find harmony in my identity by embracing my cultural diversity. As a proud daughter of Ghanaian immigrants, I have chosen to embrace the aspects of both American and Ghanaian culture that I value the most to serve as the foundation of my identity.
Music vocal or instrumental sound combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion. As a small child, I never understood why people had a fascination with music. I always thought, “What’s so good about it? I can make noises too.” At the time music never interested me. However, a few years later music quickly becomes a big part of me life.
In the words of Jewish Austrian composer and painter Arnold Schoenberg; or Schönberg, harmony was freed from “the tyranny of tonality”. Schoenberg's term is interesting in its suggestion that the tonal system exerts an overpowering pressure to conform. The carefully ordered hierarchal keys; with its singularity, central focus on each movement or work, and tonal centres that made up the tonality of “centuries–old harmonic basis of music” became of less importance and “had outlived its usefulness” as atonality; which is “a system without key” that is “deliberately avoided” gained popularity. This music utilizes several chromatic notes with the intention of hearing no tonal centers.
