My Definition Of Freedom In The United States

When you ask people what freedom is they may respond that freedom is when you can do whatever you want to do at whatever time. Mostly this will be the response of kids and young adults. But this definition of freedom is incorrect. Freedom is when we are allowed to have power of right to act without violating other people's freedoms or rights. The most effective tools for establishing and preserving freedom are strong government and constitution. A quote that can help out the claim comes from the Declaration of independence “We hold these truths to be self evident: that all men are created equal: that they are endowed by their creator with unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”.

All around the world people talk about freedom; America has more freedom than Russia, twenty-one years old as more freedom than a fifteen year old. What does “freedom” mean? Many have different definitions of “freedom”. For some it could be the freedom to speak and act as you want and others it could be to go where ever you want.

Freedom to me means that i can got to school each day to get a good education which is a good thing because i can oneday use my education to get a successful career so i can support myself when that time comes for me the only way that we get good education like this is because some veterans sacrificed themselves for the greater good of our country and that made it so we all can live how we want.

Freedom is a state of mind and being in which a person has no barriers to hold them back. These barriers can be financial, emotional, mental or physical. I think that if someone didn’t have these barriers, they don’t necessarily achieve freedom, but they have the chance to. To go beyond this though, freedom needs to first be achieved within. When someone is free in their heart and their mind, I think they’ve achieved true freedom. In short, freedom is the freedom from restraints and the freedom to do what they please.

What is Freedom? Freedom is the right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. Some use their liberties to express their thoughts, but end up hurting others. Others take it for granted and try to twist over federal law. Society should not be voice their opinions to hurt Freedom, but to strengthen Freedom instead because Freedom presents opportunities.

Many people believe there are multiple ways to define freedom. The most obvious among them being that one can do whatever they want without fear of repercussion. According to Merriam Webster the definition of freedom is “the quality or state of being free”(1). The opposing viewpoint is that freedom is something that must come with restrictions if it is to stay in place. For example，some would say that it is there freedom to steal something if they so desire. Freedom with restrictions would suggest that it is not the persons freedom to steal because that interrupts the persons freedom that was the owner of the stolen object. In the words of the Declaration of Independence it would interfere with the freedom of the pursuit of happiness. But some would argue that one view is more valid than the other and vice versa.

The notion of freedom can mean different things to different people, it all depends on the level of freedom you have over your own life. It could be freedom of speech, religious freedom, freedom of the press or even freedom of economy. However you see it they all seem to describe a sense of personal freedom, which no doubt everybody wants, but only some seem to have. No other democratic society in the world allows personal freedoms to the degree of the United States of America.
