Kayla dropped me off at my apartment, and I waved her bye before climbing the stairs. I finally reached the third floor, where my apartment was located, and dug into my purse to find my key. After digging around in my purse, I finally found it and entered my home. The first thing I spotted was my painting... The painting that had always hung on my white living room walls... The painting that I painted... It was a painting of me and Mark. We were both standing in front of the park fountain, and that 's where I had my first kiss. I don 't know if I should take it down or not though... Wanting to take a shower, I went into my bathroom, which consisted of a small tub, a shower, a toilet, and a sink. I adjusted the taps on the shower, till they were the right temperature, and stepped in and started to wash my hair. After the shower I put on some clothes, a crop top that said #selfie, and black jeans to pair it off. After looking at myself in the mirror, I nodded, and went into my kitchen. My kitchen had the same white wall as my living room, and brown tiles. I stood in one spot and just glanced around it. It was a Wednesday evening, and I was cooking dinner while waiting for Mark to come. Mark always comes to my house for dinner, so, I would always prepare a big meal. I was finally done with the steak, and put it on a plate. Just as I was about to take it over to the small dining room I had. I felt someone 's arms wrap around my waist. Immediately, I knew that it was Mark.
When we arrived at the house, I stood there for about five seconds before knocking on the door. They didn’t answer at first, so I knocked again, harder, and then saw the handle start to move. My stomach filled with butterflies as I watched the door slowly open. The face that greeted was one of a two year old, and as I looked up I saw her father standing over her.
After school was over, me and my friends were walking home. I asked my parents if my friends can come over and hang out in my treehouse. My parents said yes, so I told my friends that they can come over. Me and my friends were hanging out in my tree house and one of my friends went into the forest to check out the view. Me and my friends were talking and then we heard a scream, me and my friends where wondering who it was, and then I realised it was my friend.
Then we started to unpack all the silverware. Once we were finished unpacking it was time to put everything into its correct spot. There was no problem with everything else to move, but the couch and the tv were the hardest. After moving the heavy stuff we started to work on the kitchen and I had to put away the spoons, forks, and knives and my brother had to put away the plates, bowls, and cups. As soon as we were done with that we began to do the rooms. We first did our parents room and it took pretty long because they had to master bedroom. After that we did my uncle's bedroom. Finally, we did, me and my brother’s bedroom. When we were all done, we just relaxed and enjoyed our summer. A few weeks later, after moving in we went to a party and my dad has black hair and brown eyes and he was wearing shorts, and a tank top, with his favorite shoes, and his hair was spiked up. My mom has brownish hair, with brown eyes, and she was wearing her jeans and her shirt, with her north face jacket. My brother has black hair, and brown eyes, and he was wearing colorful clothes so I called him an ugly rainbow. I have black hair, with brown eyes and I were wearing joggers with a shirt and my jacket. The next day I went to the park and made a few new friends it felt good because they were nice to me and my
Seven years earlier, I migrated to Hawaii when I was twenty-three. I had flown away from my mother and my life in the Philippines. Like young adults and being rebellious, I wanted to live on my own away from my mother 's roof. I left the city life I grew up with in the Philippines in hope of a better life in another country.
I had returned to my old home, and the house was the same as when I left. Well, on the outside. When I walked inside things were broken, and some things were not even there. I showed the guests around the house and to their
In John Updike’s essay, “The First Kiss”, he elaborates on the relationship between the fans and the team. To better convey this point, John Updike uses metaphors, allusions, and strong diction. John Updike introduces his metaphor of a monster at the beginning of the excerpt. The metaphor includes a “romance” of sorts between the sports fans and the players. The players have broken the hearts of the fans but are ultimately forgiven by fans with “short memories” and “elastic hearts”.
Unless you are going to integrate and comment upon the graphics or the quote why are they included?
I fix a tiny strand of hair that is separated from the rest and look at myself in the mirror. Tonight is my night. I twirl in my rosy pink dress like a goof when I hear the doorbell ring. “Mom can you get that.” I shout from behind my bedroom door. I hear my mom say, “Oh my you look so handsome.”
Things and People are not always as they appear to be on the first sight that is why we have to examine them in different ways otherwise they may mislead us. That is more then true in the short story "The Kiss" by Kate Chopin in which she uses imagery, irony and simile to show us how deceitful a person can be. She tells us by the actions of her characters that a person should not be judged solely by his or her appearance or words because those things can be dangerously misleading. All of the characters in Chopin story play their own games and in more or less visible way try to manipulate others to achieve their own sometimes not very righteous goals, but who will eventually succeed in realizing his desires in this world of deception and
I pulled into the driveway and saw a soft glow of lights in the garage. I smelled the enticing aroma of a wood fire in the stove and welcomed the warmth it offered. I was shocked and almost taken aback when I opened the door. There was my husband standing tall and proud with a scotch in hand for me to sip away my day, but just to the right of him hung what might have been the most beautiful male I had ever seen.
On my way across the street to visit Debbie, I noticed her truck was not in the driveway. I rang the doorbell but no one had answered. Later then for three weeks I had walked to her house to see if she was home. Then after many weeks of waiting, at about 7:34 PM, I walked over
“I’m home!” I yelled as I opened the faded red front door. No reply, maybe nobody was home. That’s strange, mom was always home to nag at me right when I got home from school. I guess it’s my lucky day. I ran up the stairs and took the first right turn to my room.
He laughs and my heart skips a beat. Where did all these mushy feelings come from, I wonder. I've never been so … so lovey-dovey in my life. I am not sure if I like my own behavior. However, I do like kissing and touching my elf, that's for sure.
The poem, “the first boy that kissed me” (12), found in the first chapter, discusses the nature and consequences of rape as a quality of patriarchal societies’ tendency to degrade and belittle women. The poem narrates the speaker’s experience of her first kiss, from a boy, as a result of force at the age of five and compares it to the abuse endured by the boy’s mother. Kaur’s poem identifies the central theme, the abuse inflicted by patriarchal traditions in twenty-first century societies, with the use of literary devices.
One place that I see every day but don’t put much attention to is my house. The house that I live in is near by a park and a gas station. My house is small and cozy is made of steel frames, the anterior part of the house has a beige and pink color that combine a beautiful shade. The inside of my house has many portraits of family members and drawings. I have a total of two bathrooms and four rooms a kitchen and two living rooms. We have a living room that’s used for grown-ups and the other one is used for the children. The kitchen table and chairs are made of wood, in the ceiling there is big chandelier. The walls of my house are painted in different colors that are green, beige and pink. I like that every room has its own different color, it’s not boring it brings life and shade.
