My High School's National Honor Society

I believe that NJHS (National Junior Honors Society) is a very good program that will help to challenge me in school and in my community. It will help me pursue academic excellence as well as advancing my service learning by requiring me to complete service hours.

In order to maintain a membership in the National Honor Society, each individual must follow these principles and guidelines provided by the Belgrade High School National Honor Society. Consequently, in not doing so you will be removed from NHS.

NHS serves those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. NHS is a great opportunity for students to serve the community. I have plans to improve MHS National Honor Society and make it even better. To make NHS better I would make sure that students get to know everyone and not just stay with their friends, I would make sure that the service projects are helpful to the community, and I would make sure that the activities interest the students into coming.

I still remember the time in Middle School when I was inducted as a member of NJHS(National Junior Honor Society). It was truly an honor to be accepted such a recognition for my outstanding grades and admirable characters. While receiving the certificate, I looked over to my parents who had big smiles on their face, they were very proud. Being a member of NJHS made me realize I play an important role in the community.

I would like to become an active member of Carrboro High School National Honor Society, because I am looking forward to the opportunity to serve and improve the community with other like-minded students. I believe it is important to balance academics, athletics, and community service. For example, this year I am taking 5 AP classes, running cross-country and track, and have spent almost 150 hours volunteering in the community. The first time I volunteered was when I raised a diabetic alert dog with my family. Even though I was sad to see the dog I had raised go, it was a rewarding experience because I knew that the dog would help someone have a better life. Anytime I can find an opportunity to both improve myself and the community, I won’t hesitate to seize it. I found the opportunity to do just that at both Shodor and CHCCS Project Graduation.

Being selected as a member of Grove School’s National Honor Society would be a great honor for me because I hope to achieve my goal of exhibiting my dedication to academics, community service and extra circulars. I strive to be a role model and a resource for my peers by guiding them in the right direction. I think I could be a valuable addition to NHS because I have a strong work ethic, have a passion for helping people and not only meet but exceed all the qualifications of leadership, character, service and scholarship.

I have had many accomplishments and times of leadership. Some leadership roles I have participated in are: being Deacons Quorum President, Senior Patrol Leader, Band, Cross Country, “Teacher’s PET” in 5th grade, and Basketball. Some achievements I’ve accomplished are: being #1 on the reading hall of fame in 5th grade, had 4 Band concerts, gone to Scout Camp and helped with eagle projects, been to 7 Cross Country meets, and been on 3 Basketball teams.

As a second year National Honor Society student, the last couple of years I have been more focused on ways I can help my community to help get all my service hours in for the end of my high school NHS career. I’ve always loved doing little things to help someone who needs it but I never thought about the things that I do everyday count just as much as the other things. Community service to me, is more than just holding the door open for someone, picking up trash, or helping someone with their groceries. I want to help people grow and be a better person while serving my community. I want to do more than volunteer, I want to impact the lives of people and I feel that is what I have done.

Since I was five years old I would always give my community a help hand, whether in beautifying my community by planting flowers, or by volunteering at local places. From the ages from five to ten my after school program would go around the neighborhood to plant flowers. In my town library I donated my time to help the children with hands-on activities to promote original ideas such as creating objects with everyday items. I have also volunteered a total of 36 hours for the American Cancer Society.

I believe that the National Honor Society should play a sizable role in the school community. The National Honor Society does an outstanding job commemorating students not just for academics, but also for leadership, characteristics, and service. Almost all other awards given at schools deal strictly with congratulating students for excellent academics, whereas top students of the National Honor Society excel in all of the criteria.

Discussion: Mr. Payne said the technology millage allows us to leverage purchases such as these by having the infrastructure in place to support additional mobile devices. On any given day, we average 6,000-8,000 devices on our network; so without the proper infrastructure, we might have to turn down additional purchases that are funded via other sources. It is not about exalting themselves but about lifting others up.” Leadership, service, and character is and always will be very important to me which is why I believe I qualify and would be a beneficial member to the Valley Heights High School National Honors Society.

I was delighted to find out I was eligible to take part in National Junior Honor Society, but it got me thinking, “Why me?” I have been wondering throughout the day what makes me so special to take part in such an honorable program but, to be honest, I could not find an accurate answer. It is very hard for me to not be modest because, I do not want to seem like I am better than other candidates, but if I have to, I will. Although I do not have much volunteer hours, I still would like to help out the community give back. I remember one time when I was about 9 or 10 my family and I traveled to Colorado to visit family members and as part of the experience, my parents enrolled me into a soup shop, in which I helped feed the less fortunate.
