My Interest On The Host Country

· What is your interest in the host country?
My interest in going to Spain is because I traveled there for a week during my senior year of high school and fell in love with the country and the city of Barcelona. From the local’s laid-back view of time with their Siestas, their way of taking to the time to enjoy the little things in life, and the perfect weather, it wasn’t hard to fall in love with the place. I am a huge soccer fan and Spain has two of the greatest teams in the world with the wildest fan base in the world. I remember my brother telling me he got chills running down his spin the first time he went to a FC Barcelona home game, he told me it was one of the greatest experiences he ever had. I feel studying abroad will enhance my energy for academic goals and will strengthen my interest in learning. Also, my lifelong goal has been to start my own trading firm and globalization is a huge part of trading. I need to know the ins and outs of the foreign markets and studying abroad will increase my knowledge of how foreign countries do things. These days business is all about globalization and I wont be successful in globalization if I don’t get to see the world through with my own eyes.

It will not extend my time at IU.
· Life in another country involves significantly different living situations, academic environments and social customs. What experience and skills do you have that will help you cope with such differences?
As I said above, I have already traveled to Spain and actually spent the week living in my brother’s apartment so I got to experience the living situation first hand. It wasn’t hard for me to adjust to living there at all because of my ability to adapt to my living situations with ease. Also, I spent the week going out to see the different places, meet new people, and be in different social situations so I already know what it feels like to be in those situations and I handled it
