My Personal History As A Reader Analysis

In order to truly and fully understand my history with reading, we must go back to the beginning of my narrative. The earliest memory of reading that I can recall is my mom reading me stories like The 10 Little Ladybugs. I absolutely loved when my mom or dad would read to me, and I wanted it to stay that way. I had no intention whatsoever to explore into my own individual reading endeavors. It seemed that my prayers would be answered, at least for a few years. It wasn't until I was in first grade that reading came back into the forefront of my very short attention span. We had started learning how to read, and I wanted nothing to do with it. My teacher, my parents, and even a few of my friends would try and get me to open a book but to no avail. This utter refusal to read

As a reader and writer I always faced given assignments with the intent of doing exceptional jobs and take a sense of pride in my work to complete my tasks. As a reader, I will bore myself through out an entire book and realize I didn 't understand a single thing. Although as a writer, I can go on for so long losing myself on a topic because it feels more interactive. Reflecting on my experiences as a reader and writer have been very bold, I never really found a joy or an interest to become the exceptional student who stands out amongst others because, I always felt ok with myself and my results with the way I did things.

For some people reading can be a difficult experience. For me it became difficult at the age of five years old. I really wasn’t an educational kid I was more of a kid that like to play with my toys and four brothers, whenever they came home from school. As I grew up reading became a little more difficult for me to master, at times in my middle school my teacher Mr.G would test us on how well and skilled we were at reading. Every day when it was time for him to test me I would get nervous and started to stubble on words and fail my test. By the time I was in high school I learned how to take my time and read, which has help me to progress my reading skills over the years.

When I was a younger I don’t remember if I was read to or not, but I read a lot of books. I enjoy reading books because they allow me to reach new heights in my imagination. At my age many kids say that reading is boring and is for losers. I think it’s cool to read and will continue to read throughout my life. I have read many different types of books from fiction to biographies. The longest book I ever read was a book called Dragon Rider by Cornella Funke. It was five hundred and thirty five pages! When it comes to reading I am a superstar! When I’m reading I am able to get a moral lesson from what I read, so it ends up helping me in the long run of my life

I haven't always been keen on reading as I am today. I can’t really remember the reason for my distaste in literature, but I think it mostly came from me just thinking that reading was too difficult or I was just me being a stubborn six year old not wanting to do it, but none the less I was like this for a lot of my earlier years. I was able to read a small amount of text because my parents teaching me, using Doctor Seuss books like Cat and the Hat and One FIsh Two Fish Red Fish Blue FIsh as learning tools to help me become more fluent. If I do not enjoy the book, I adore to think of other readers and their perspective on the book. I can easily change my perspective of how I see the book, and it seems to become a new book. While reading books I loved from early on, I will be locked in for hours. No matter how long, I will not stop the book until it is over. I often will lock myself in my room, and read until the sun is up. There are many reasons of why I read. As a child, I was hated reading, for all the books seemed to be boring or “girly”. I always wondered why our classes would read the Little House on the Prairie, instead of books of war and violence. My previous school really delayed my love for reading. We had a strange A.R where some students would read a total of six points a year, where I was required to read on an upward of 250 points annually as young kids. I was forced to speed read, and read books I didn’t enjoy just for the high points value. The change of schools caused my love of reading to excel. I learned about many amazing books that I could read without a nearly impossible deadline. I read more and more, and learned to love the books for the content, not the forced

My earliest memory of learning how to read was when I was about four or five years old. My siblings were mainly the ones who taught me to read before I even entered elementary school. By the time I did start attending school I was reasonably literate. One vivid memory I have that always comes to mind when I think of how I started reading was of my sister teaching me. We had these square little red Dora the Explorer books that were only 4 pages. My sister would have me read them out loud and waited patiently as I tried to figure the words out and get the pronunciation right. She made sure I was fluent in my reading abilities for that day before I could go play.

The memory of reading for me started in third grade. My third grade teacher was Mrs. Freedman and she encouraged us to read in class and at home. We (the class) would take trips to the library to check out books to take home each week and we received a prize, if we could read at least five books a week. Now that prize was only a piece of candy, but that is all it took to persuade me to read. I believed I truly enjoyed reading until I move to fourth grade

My first memory of learning how to read began when I was about five in Sunday school before church service. My Sunday school teacher, Ms. Lucinda, read us a story from a pop out book at every session. She reached down and pulled out of her navy blue duffle bag a yellow, tall pop out book with the title of, Noah and the ark. The only reason I knew the title was because of the picture of a man dressed in a white robe and hundreds of animals in a boat illustrated across the front. I had heard the story about a man carrying two of each animal on a large boat so I assumed that was the title, and I was right.

I had a few obstacles in reading growing up that did not help me at all. In elementary school I was in special reading classes. Nothing really ever caught my eye when I had to read. My teachers always picked what I had to read, I was not given the choice to read what I wanted. I also had a really hard time understanding what I was reading because of that I would always fritter my time away. I would just sit there and pretend like I was doing my work. As a reader, I love reading fiction books. I’m not super picky about what type of fiction it is, it could be anywhere from fantasy to horror. Along with the horror genre, I like to read scary stories that people put on blogs. A lot of the stories written on blogs could be either made up or something an individual will claim to be real. Another way I like to read are through apps such as Twitter and Facebook. I like to keep up with the lives of my friends and just any type of news that will come up on either feed.

I started to read at a young age and it never really came that easy to me. I struggled a little bit more with understanding some words and even some questions I couldn’t answer them because when I would read and even till this day I start to read, but I don’t fully pay attention to my reading. It’s not because I don’t like reading I enjoy it. When I was in the fifth grade I joined “Book Club” it was year round and a few times a week. Once I was in the book club I enjoyed reading more and because it was fun either the people or myself taking turns and doing voices for the characters. I kept reading for a few more years and then I stopped for a couple of years. I got back into reading when I was a sophomore and a big part of it was because that

Personally, I’ve never been a heavy reader or writer. Books and I have a love-hate relationship , but reading has played an enormous role in making me the person I am today. Plus, It has given me a sizable vocabulary and helped me become an exceptional writer. Without all of the reading and writing I’ve done in my years I wouldn’t have the heft vocabulary and I wouldn’t have the enormous amount of knowledge that I have today. Reading has been one of my favorite hobbies since I was a little child. I grew up as a normal child should grow and eventually I had to start learning for me to fit in society. My literacy started many years ago, after I knew how to talk and communicate with people. Reading my alphabet was quite stressful and I had to be given a hand by my family members. I remember my parents reading with me and it was the most meaningful and memorable way to spend time with me.
