Ever since I was a child, every summer the majority of my friends would go on vacations. Some would go down to the Lake of the Ozarks or halfway across the county to New York or California. They would get the opportunity to do unique activities such as bungee jumping, skydiving or scuba diving. I was constantly envious of them because I always imagined having a family vacation which I felt was never going to happen. Having a week or so away from the house and the opportunity to do activities I have never done before was all I ever desired. Due to the fact that vacations are very expensive, my parents continuously voiced their concern to me. They told me it was impossible for us to go anywhere really special. What my parents called my typical vacation was me going down to my cousin’s house who lives simply an hour away and spend a week there over summertime which I did ever summer since I was four. While I love my cousin, I wanted a real vacation. A chance to go somewhere I have never been before. However, I kept anticipating that someday, I would finally be able to understand the importance of getting away with your family and leaving everything behind; to have my parents to myself along with my sisters. Eventually, at the age of eight, my dream came true when my dad surprised my family late one Sunday night by announcing that we all were going to go on a vacation. Even though we went to Trout Lodge, which is a merely two-hour drive, I was delighted to have time to get away
My family trips are full of fun and crazy adventures. My first family trip that I remember is my family road trip. We went to the Wisconsin Dells. Afterwards we drove to Minnesota. I almost got lost there because I was looking at something and my family started walking away and I didn’t know. I ended up finding them after I had been scared to death. In May I’m going back to Minnesota to go The Mall of America. In August I’m going to Hawaii. I kind of scared to fly over the ocean but I think I’ll have fun.
Could you ever imagine driving twenty-two hours in a suburban with eight people? Although it was incredibly cramped, and tortuous, I was going to my favorite place… Florida. We were going with our neighbors, who I grew up with, traveled with, and basically did everything with. Our moms had decided to do a last minute trip to Florida and planned everything out the night before. We always did vacations on spring break, but this vacation my mom told me by surprise, at seven A.M.
This all started with my parent’s brilliant idea to take me to Disney World. As any 8-year-old would have reacted to such amazing news, I completely lost it. To my memory, I think I might have just turned the house upside down, literally making the clean family room into a war zone. And of course, I had to brag to all my friends at school of this amazing trip I had the opportunity to go on. I was so ecstatic that every night I crossed off the days left until the trip. After what had felt like an eternity, we headed to the airport to fly to Orlando.
When spring break began my parents gave me the opportunity to have 2 weeks of spring break, where I would spend the first week hanging out with my and fiends and the week they go back to school I go on a cruise. While I was on the cruise me and my family visited 4 different islands over the 8 day voyage. On the third day on the boat we visited the Dominican Republic, on the fifth day we visited St. Thomas, on the sixth day we visited Puerto )Rico, and on the seventh day we visited are final island Grand Turk.
When the word “vacation” is mentioned, everyone instantly thinks of a great time. There are no classes, no work, no chores, and most importantly, no worries. However, this isn’t always the case, especially with my family. We decided to set out on an adventure to Virginia Beach this past April. The events that took place were benign but, the trip itself was a little bit of a struggle due to the chain of unpredictable events.
My mom and dad have always told me to do what makes me happy, and worry less about the cost. Ever since I was ten years old, my family has decided to take a vacation every year right before school starts. We have been to Disney, on two Caribbean cruises, and Mexico twice. I realize now that it was one of the smartest decisions my parents could have made for us kids. Growing up and being able to see places such as Aruba, Florida, and Lake Houses in Wisconsin is something that I will always be grateful for; visiting these places has taught me that there is so much more that comes with vacationing besides having
Have you ever been on a vacation? Although I have not been on an enormous amount of vacations, but I have been on a few. Of the four to five vacations I have been on, the most favorable trip I have ever been on was when I was seven years old and my family went to Colorado. There, we explored the nearby towns, went dirt-biking, went on a train, and had some mishaps. We also stopped at some amazing places on the way there, including a huge museum in Kansas City.
My favorite vacation, so far, is one I went on in September 2015 with my friends Alissa and Jaidah. We all share fandom interests. On the weekend of September 19, my brother went away to spend his birthday with my dad. My mom shook me awake and informed me I could bring two friends along to a room in the Dells that we would be occupying. Almost immediately I thought of the duo. I ran downstairs and texted both of them while packing a bag. They texted back not too long after, and I told them my mom and I would pick them up anywhere from 10-11 that Saturday morning. We picked up Alissa and she tried to direct us to Jaidah’s house, but she wasn’t thorough with her
Imagine getting away from the monotony of your everyday life. You can lie on the beach sipping a cool drink miles away from your worries of getting a paper done or helping a customer at work. You can be on top of a mountain overlooking beautiful lands that are different from your own backyard. Half of the class has taken a vacation less than five times in their lifetimes, but let’s face that most of those probably included those little family vacations to Disneyland. But, all of you said that you planned to travel someday. So, why not do it sooner than later? One of the reasons for not traveling that many of you put is not having time because of school or work. Also, one of your major concerns is
During my sophomore year of high school my family went on a cruise for vacation. On March 23rd, 2013, departed from Miami, Florida on the cruise. We stopped at Key West, Florida, San Juan, Puerto Rico, and Cozumel, Mexico. My parents friends and their children came with us on the cruise. My parents, two sisters, and brother, my parents two friends, and their three children were the people that all went. We decided to go on this vacation because we wanted to enjoy the warm weather and experience the different cultures.
My personal favorite vacation was when I was six. I flew with my family to a friend’s beachfront estate in Florida. Countless hours were spent hours fishing and swimming on the beach every day, even catching a Blacktip shark. The life changing trip made me exceptionally closer to my friend and his family. I traveled to Italy when I was twelve, it was the first time I had left the United States. The trip was an incredible experience for me, introducing me to an entirely new world of culture. Leaving the United States was a substantial goal for me at that age, as I had never been to a place where people didn’t speak English. The trip was an eye opener for how different the world can be. My first flight alone was when I was in February 2015, when I flew to Colorado to ski with my aunt and uncle. Initially, I was nervous as I left my father at security and made my way to the gate. I soon realized how simple it was to travel and thought of it as an adventure. I’m sure my experience wouldn’t have been the same if the people sitting next to me weren’t so friendly. Even though I have had some transforming experiences in my life, I always look to see what enjoyment I can have next and what I can to create
As a child I was lucky enough to have this experience with my family but I may not have had this opportunity if it wasn 't for growing up in the middle class. Vacations are very expensive, especially when they are only a week long and families spend thousands of dollars on them. That would be a lot of extra money for families to come up with, especially families who aren 't in the higher low class or middle class and "annual income per adult averages between $18,000-$30,000 per year."(Cliffsnotes) Not having those vacation experiences would be a huge loss and I wouldn’t have had some of my best childhood experiences with my family.
So it started like this, one year my family and I started planning for our vacation in a couple mouths. I wasn’t really ready because what if I get excited and they cancel on me, I would lose it. My first concern was just the little amount of money we had but that didn’t stop us from saving up. I didn’t sleep all night just thinking about all the cool things that would be there, all the nice people to meet while I’m walking along the beach with my shades on. Me coming up with ideas wasn’t hard at all, I just felt like it might fail, well because we really never do these kind of trips unless were going to the lake. We had everything planned, when, sometime in the summer, where, Myrtle Beach south Carolina, what time, around 12:00 in the morning. Although it was difficult, I took a deep breath and we were on our way to this outstanding place, we told our self’s to actually love each other, become a hole as a family.
The best vacation my family ever took was one that we didn’t stress on planning. My husband and I kept it simple. We packed our bags early and hid
It was the summer of 1977, and my father decided to pack the station wagon and drive from Fort Worth to Tampa, Florida. Besides my parents in the vehicle, my two sisters and brother also joined us for the long journey. I was young and excited and did not realize the distance my father would be driving on this trip. We made two stops on the way down and the first one was in Mississippi at a Holiday Inn. My first time spending the night the night at a hotel occurred on this vacation, and I was excited. We had adjoining rooms with my parents, and we spent the evening in the pool and watching television all night. I was never aware of my parents’ finances but I know now, we did not have a lot of money. From Mississippi, we stopped again in Tallahassee, Florida and we swam in the ocean during the afternoon and hit the hotel pool in the
