On Sunday night viewers of “NCIS: Los Angeles” got an action-packed episode that kicked off with an explosion and ended with a job well done. The NCIS team was summoned to an explosion where a West Central Aerospace engineer was murdered. The unfortunate victim was developing a new guided missile destroyer and the team quickly realizes the classified intel is expected to be sold to the highest bidder. The story quickly unfolds as the detonation of the motorhome where the engineer was killed had been extremely controlled. The agents figure out that the materials used are typically used in the movie business. While the clues are sorted out, Henrietta “Hetty” Lange finds out that the team under the engineer could be targeted and two of the staff …show more content…
Undetected, the bad guys -- four in all – find a way to take over the plane and force the classified intel into their hands. Using guns planted by a baggage employee two days prior and electronic devices to forward the information to the highest buyer, it appears the transaction is happening at 36,000 feet. However, they didn’t plan on the NCIS agents being aboard the plane. Working with the air marshals and the pilot, Sam and G subdue the bad guys and even had an epic gun battle in the cargo hold. While one of the flight attendants were killed (way before the gun battle) none of the 268 passengers were hurt on the fight even though there were guns pointing at everyone. If that wasn’t the biggest success of the trip, then recovering the classified information was the top prize as it was a job well done. As fans watched the case play out, they also got to see the budding romance of “Densi”. Now that Special Agent Kensi Blye is feeling better, it appears that LAPD Detective Marty Deeks might be the luckiest man alive. The couple’s relationship is getting stronger and the chemistry between the two is steamy. The relationship even had Deeks plan a surprise get-together for Kensi with friends coming in from out of town. When will there be wedding bells? No hints yet on what might be the next step for the couple, but everyone is hoping
Is High School football a sport, or is it more than that to some people? Recent newspaper headlines include such items as coaches abusing student athletes; fathers of athletes murdering coaches, and mother’s disabilitating cheerleading candidates to assure their daughters make the cheerleading team. In Odessa, Texas high school football is a major contributor to the society of a small town in Texas society. Every Friday night, 50,000 people fill the stadium to see high school students put their lives on the line to win a football game. H. G. Bissinger writes a novel called Friday Night Lights, about a year in 1988 where High School players prepare and play on the High School team, and what an impact they have
Imagine being a police officer doing your daily routine job. You are in a patrol car on the highway, watching the cars and trucks drive by. You are also looking for speeders to warn them to be more careful and maybe you’ll ticket them. It has been a very boring day for you, since you have only been called on your radio once, and it was for an accident (fender bender). Almost at the end of your shift, a blue car drives by going ninety miles an hour, but you know the speed limit is only fifty-five miles an hour. You pull the patrol car out of the gravel area that you had been sitting in and you start to follow the car. You put your lights on and catch up to them. After a few minutes you pull the person over.
Slavery was first introduced in the United States in Jamestown, Virginia in 1619 and became an integral part of American society for many years. Ira Berlin says that “[A]ny attempt to address the question of race in the present must also address slavery in the past.” This in fact is true as we must be able to understand years and years of different viewpoints and ideas to come to an educated conclusion as to why it began and continued to exist. Racism is still a hot discussion topic in the modern world with constant reminders that there is still tension. The biggest reason racism is the way it is today is due to slavery and its conflict in the United States. The popular show Friday Night Lights has an episode in which race is addressed. One
The organization I selected for my research paper is the Chicago Police Department, also known as CPD. This organization interests me because it directly affects me, not only as a member of the communities who seem to interact most with CPD, but also as someone who was born and raised in the city of Chicago. The Chicago Police Department’s mission is to serve and protect citizens of the city, yet this organization has been in the news for doing just the opposite. Recently, the CPD has been in the media for a number of unethical issues and their lack of diversity on the force. Thus I would like to explore how these areas affect the work of CPD and their relationship with various communities. With recent protests and the Black Lives Matter movement
Peter Moskos‘, Cop in The Hood, is the story of a sociologist going native by going through the Baltimore police academy, becoming a cop and working for over a year. The book follows Moskos chronological journey, from the academy to the street and the last part of the book is dedicated to a pretty thorough analysis of the War on Drugs.
Sustaining the ambitions of not only themselves but the alumni and town of Odessa, Texas is a lot to ask from a young adult. That’s exactly what Permian football provides to the people of Odessa, where the post economic boom of the oil business has left the town in a racially tense, economic crisis. The lights on Permian High School’s football field are the only sanctuary for the west Texas town. Socially and racially divided, Odessa’s mass dependence on high school football constructs glorified expectations for the football team to temporarily disguise the disappointments that come with living in a town tagged as the “murder capital” of
Leading up to the establishment of the Chicago Police Department, the first rank of “constable” was created in 1830. Authorization of Chicago’s very own police force occurred on January 31, 1835. On August 15, 1835, the Chicago Police Department was born. The department’s mission reads, “The Chicago Police Department, as part of, and empowered by, the community, is committed to protect the lives, property, and rights of all people, to maintain order, and to enforce the law impartially. We will provide quality police service in partnership with other members of the community. To fulfill our mission, we will strive to attain the highest degree of ethical behavior and professional conduct at all times.” Orsemus Morrison was elected Chicago’s first constable; he was assisted by Constables Luther Nichols and John Shrigley. The three men served and protected a population of about 3,200. In the year 1837, the Municipal Court of Chicago was created. It had co-jurisdiction with the Cook County Court within corporate limits of the city of Chicago. Between the years 1838 and 1854, the Chicago P.D consisted of very few collection of officers, constables, and part-time night watchers to maintain the quickly-expanding city.
The history of African-Americans in the United States is full of many periods of achievements, as well as periods of struggle. The Los Angeles riots of 1992 were the result of many years of systematic racism in the United States following the Civil Rights Movement. The beating and unjust trial of Rodney King exposed the unfair and brutal treatment of African Americans by the police. As well as the shooting of 15 year-old Latasha Harlins 2 weeks after the beating of Rodney King to further ignite hatred within African-Americans in Los Angeles. What came forth was a week long riot not only changed Los Angeles, but the United States. That is why the Los Angeles riots was the most devastating, yet consequential, civil uproar in the history of the United States.
Claim: Forman claims that racial profiling is an ineffective way to enforce the law and should be stopped.
How did the Kansas City Patrol Study affect routine patrol all across the nation? It affected routine patrol in the fact that It made officers realize that traditional routine patrol in marked police cars did not appear to affect the level of crime. Nor did it affect the public’s feeling of security. The experiment demonstrated that urban police departments can successfully test patrol deployment strategies, and that they can manipulate patrol resources without jeopardizing public safety.
Law enforcement, in some form, has existed for centuries and since its creation there has been numerous improvements. Improvements have come about because of community changes and the need for more effective ways of policing the people. As crimes became more fierce and complex so did the need for the investigation and solving of these crimes. Criminal investigative techniques were not just born from thin air, some thought and planning had to go into figuring out the proper ways to go about doing things. Pioneers of the criminal justice and criminal investigation field such as August Vollmer, Alphonse Bertillon, Edward Henry, and Edmond Locard have made superior contributions to the development of criminal investigative techniques. These techniques have impacted the way police operate today and set a substantial base for law enforcement to build on.

Oliver Stone’s 1994 classic, Natural Born Killers, excited and traumatized its audiences while also causing controversy. The tale of white trash lovers caught up in a realm of chaos that includes a continuous murderous rampage from state to state, draws in audiences with its graphic violence and riveting pulse inducing music. Yet, the message of this film seems to be much deeper than just exposing audiences to yet another chaotic action movie filled with guns, blood and mayhem. Stone’s Natural Born Killers examines the subject of media’s investment in serial murder very thoroughly, and so it seems likely that it has the potential to offer a more rigorous interrogation of the nature of the American public’s fascination with the serial
