I never thought the day would come where I’d have to admit to myself I had an addiction. The hardest part was to except the fact I was an addict of painkillers and admitting it to my family so that I could get the help and support needed to get clean. The road leading to my addiction started with the factors of my childhood, always trying to fit in and not being supported emotionally from my parents. Having a child at the age of sixteen was the second factor, which made me grow up faster than a normal child at my age would have had to. Living the life of an addict was a struggle everyday but, getting help was the hardest part of it all. I’ll live with this disease for the rest of my life because recovery is a

I would have to say looing back over the last five years my life has developed in to exactly what I have always wanted it to be. After going through a nasty divorce about eight years ago I went on a path of self destruction. I started drinking heavily and using drugs and a way to numb the pain I was going through. Finally after doing a few things that I’m really not proud of I had a wake up call. I got in to some legal trouble which opened my eyes to all the things I may have lost if I continued living my life that way. I then decided it was time to make some changes, I went back to school and obtained my G.E.D. and then
The military honorably discharged Juan Moreno giving him a medal for protecting the battalion. Juan goes home to his wife and tells her the bad news and he tries to unsuccessfully adjust to civilian life. For example one day him and his wife go to the grocery store and Juan was wearing his military uniform and they come across a young boy with his dad who sees Juan’s medals on his suit. The young boy asks his dad if Juan Moreno was a hero? His dad says yes and the boy thanks Juan for being a hero. Documentaries help to tell the stories that can change the world, and have the intangible power to bring change to societies hearts and minds. An effective documentary holds the power to evoke an evolutionary emotional response from the viewer, perhaps beginning the revolution to change. Today, my presentation will demonstrate the ability of a documentary to create a greater change in the world, while pursuing a thought-provoking response from viewers. Ultimately, it only takes one person to create a difference in the world, and Growing up Coy, a Still Point Pictures production, is a clear example of this. Today, I will evaluate the films elements in order to understand the power it
Mrs. Jones was a large woman she always had a purse slung around her shoulder. She was walking at eleven o clock and a boy ran up and attempted to snatch her purse. He broke the strap and lost his balance Mrs. jones picked him up and dragged him to her house. She asked him what his name was he said Rodger the she told him to wash his face he thought about running but still obeyed her and washed his face. After a while she sent him on his way with ten dollars to buy him the shoes he wanted so Mrs. Jones did all this to teach him a lesson instead of turning
One night at work my coworker and I were checking people out, an older man entered the store kind of angry, which is usual for customers to get mad about things, “someone just stole my floor mats out of bay two!” he yelled. “Would you like us to check the cameras for you?” Matthew replied to him. We checked the cameras and sure enough someone had actually stole his floor mats.
He was broke and train was the only way there way to get there, he needed employment fast. We spent many long cold nights on the somber New York streets, scouring businesses and local newspapers in hopes to find employment. As he was walked the streets he found an old flyer and wet flyer posted on a telephone pole, the flyer advertised an italian bakery, it read “HELP WANTED” . In desperation he rips the flyer off the pole and goes to the bakery. His hopes high he enters the bakery, “excuse me, sir” Vienna says in a course italian accent. He shows the flyer to the man,”why yes!” he responds joyously. Vienna was a baker in Italy, he knew he would get the job. ‘I like your stuff!” the man states, “you're hired, you start Monday eight
“Sure.” I answer, feeling almost euphoric as we talk about really dopey things, and referencing Toy Story, with me laughing for at “I am the snake in my boot.” for a good 15 minutes. All things have an end, and my night ended at 11 P.M. with the gang splitting ways with Elijah driving Wade and Hayden back home and Harper driving me and Kacie home in his 2009 Jeep Wrangler passed down from his dad. The ride home was quiet, even with music blasting from the radio. The Eagan streets being no one but us as we sped down the roads, I take a look at the countless stars that filled the what was an empty sky during the day. My hair flew in the wind, subsequently a fretful feeling took over my thoughts as I know this moment won't last. I can’t help but
Roman was in a group he had never knew before. He was in a group of 15 men. They all had training right there and this went on for a year. After 4 months, they had a training where they had to run through mud and dirt and get to the other side of the field. Roman, always messing up since he got to the training camp, lost his boots and had searched everywhere for them. Being a helper in the group a man named Benjamin gave Roman his boots. “Это было приятное ощущение, что кто-то заботился, чтобы помочь мне после того, как 4-х месяцев
David and Brad were teenage rivals. They went to different high schools and competed against each other in almost every sport growing up. David, tall and handsome was talking to Brad who was excited to share the news of his victory the night before. “I got to second base last night! I was in a slump and striking out but I finally made some good plays!” Brad, a little awkward was much shorter than David and not quite as popular. David didn’t believe Brad at all and said, “Sure you did, since when did you get so lucky?” Brad was a bit hurt and wanting to flaunt his prowess to David he blurted, “Oh course I did. I am on a winning streak. Tonight I am going for a Home run!” David, a little jealous and feeling a bit insecure was not sure what
You hear Courtney’s voice before you even open your eyes. She’s crying. You pull yourself up from the floor, Lamby in hand, and silently regret the decision to sleep there due to your very achy back. When you arrive in the kitchen, Courtney squeals, tears fresh on her face, so you run over to her. You want to hug her but she is laying on the sofa and the whole of her lap is covered in white, papery bandages and you’re frightened of touching them, so you sit crosslegged by her head an stroke her hair the way Dad does before you sleep. She smiles at you, Shan the hopital was so cool you would have loved it!
The ocean and sunshine was what she loved. Aspyn was made for Hawaii. She had always been happy but after the tragic loss of her dad the year before her life was never the same. Her mom started to work long, hard hours to provide for Aspyn and that meant she was not at home seventy five percent of the time. Aspyn started to become very independent but missed seeing her mom. Staying busy is what kept her mind off of her sadness she was burying inside. Most of the time she was busy with friends, school, or surfing. She learned to surf with her dad when she was little and that is what made surfing mean the world to her. When she surfed, she felt the most free and connected to her dad. She went into the ocean everyday, but one day was much different than the rest.
Professional development depends upon practitioner’s ability to link and learn for all levels of their practice. Learning is always related, in one way or another, to what has gone on before. Therefore there is never a clean slate on which to begin: as ideas are often based on previous constructions and it is only through critical reflection of these constructions, through deconstruction these past ideas that we can start to reconstruct new ways of doing and seeing that does not recreate oppressive social work practice.
