My number one goal in life is to make a difference. I want to be the reason that people smile and have joy-filled lives. With this, I plan on either being a veterinarian or a chiropractor, which I will be going to Saginaw Valley State University in the fall to pursue. I want to either help animals, or I want to help people in my community by giving them the ability to have bodies free of pain, or at least reduced pain. I am currently looking more into being a chiropractor, because I have a more personal connection to this career, for my dad is disabled with chronic back pain, but seeing a chiropractor has turned his life around and he can now be my loving father again, instead of the depressed, pain-filled father I once had. With my father’s …show more content…
Within school, I have ran Track and Field every year since the sixth grade. I have a very strong passion for Track and this drives me to work harder, as well as motivate others to do their best. I am also a member of Lakeland High School’s National Honor Society (NHS). Through NHS, I have been able to have many opportunities to reach out and help my community, which includes helping with our school’s recycling, which has proudly earned me the nickname of the “recycling queen,” tutoring many students within the school, donating blood, raising money for different organizations, donating my time to help at the Suzanne Haskew Arts Center, and volunteering for pet adoptions, Parkinson’s walk-a-thons, Holiday Hope for Kids, and many other small activities held at middle and elementary schools, like dances. Aside from the large activities that I put my time into, I also work every day to put smiles on the faces of people, whether it be by simply saying, “Hello,” or by holding a door open. In my mind, I view every positive action as an action that should be taken, even if it does add a bit of time or work to my
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY The National Honor Society is an organization for those students who demonstrate an enthusiasm for scholarship by maintaining academic excellence. In addition, the students must demonstrate the qualities of service, leadership, and character. The criteria for members are as follows: 1. Membership in the National Honor Society is open to eligible 10th, 11th and 12th grade students. 2. Members will be selected on the basis of scholarship, leadership, character, and service. A Faculty Council will review all prospective members. 3. Members must be active in at least one (1) school sponsored activity. 4. National Honor Society members or inductees will be expected to demonstrate that they are active in at least one school
So you ask me why should I be able to join the National Honor Society. Well let me tell you why. Society always characterizes people based on race, income and etc, but a person that looks different than others can be someone great if they are given a chance. So let not my race, my income or my personality changed the way you view me as a possible member of this organization. I may have not been in many clubs like others have because of economical reasons. How would you like it to be work everyday with your family before school and after and even when you have break or off for privileges? No, it wouldn’t be nice but I have to do and I also have to maintain my grades in the 90’s because I had to mature quickly as a child. At the beginning I
The National Honor Society is a prestigious group of students, and is is quite the accomplishment to be affiliated with this organization. It would be an honor for any scholar to be a part of. The group learns how to become fantastic leaders and beneficial members of their community. Each member has to excel in four areas: character, leadership, service, and scholarship. I believe that I demonstrate these four qualities within and outside of school. If given the chance, I would be elated and committed to learn how to a difference and impact on my local community and classmates
The career I chose to undertake as my profession is that of a mechanical engineer. Why do I want to become a mechanical engineer? Well, for starters, I would be able to design, build and possibly repair many various machines and other technologies that are complex. These technologies can range from being already in use on a global scale to new, futuristic designs that are highly technical. Also, this career includes being a sort of jack-of-all-trades, where I would possess knowledge in mathematics, physics, etc. Finally, this career offers me the chance to expand outside my immediate area since mechanical engineers are well desired around the globe as well.
Throughout the past four years of high school, I have done my best to try and stay actively involved in the community. I have been presented with some amazing volunteer opportunities such as Huron Safety Town, STAR Leadership Camp, American Red Cross, and Huron High School Girl’s Basketball Biddy Program. I spent over 24 hours at Huron Safety Town where I was able to help young students, mainly those going into Kindergarten, learn how to stay safe while on the road. I was also able to spend over 24 hours at STAR Leadership Camp where I was a councilor to those going into the sixth grade. I made sure that each student understood the importance of being a leader in today's society and how important they are to Huron’s community. Through National Honor Society I have been able to maintain in constant contact, approximately 10 hours, with the American Red Cross by volunteering in monthly blood drives. I have also dedicated 16 hours of my time to those young girls interested in someday being a varsity basketball player through the Biddy Basketball Program.
Due to my involvement in my school, I have a plethora of opportunities that affect my community. As a member of the National Honor Society, we stay involved in activities that benefit our chapter and Walkerton itself. For instance, we annually undergo a food drive at our school in order to supply food for the people in the community. Then we transport the food to the food pantry and once every month we take turns to distribute the food to the people who need it. This distribution we do for the community aids the people in need as most people receiving the food are unable to transport the food themselves. Alongside the food drives, I spend hours of volunteering for concessions, tutoring students after school, and aiding for the band teacher.
I have always succeeded in all of my courses with high marks, earning a place in the National Honor Society. I have been in accelerated English, math, and science since eighth grade and took my first Advanced Placement course in tenth grade. Midway through tenth grade, I made the decision to graduate early considering my senior year would be very minimal in course work. To graduate early, I took economics independently last spring and challenged the U.S History and Government course. I am currently taking thirteen credits in college courses and going on clinical rotations three times a week in the hospital through the New Vision Medical Program.
I feel like the Career Academy classes definitely did a very good job of introducing us into what college is going to be like. Especially with the deadline on Sunday nights. With normal high school classes, you are able to push things off and not do them and then also turn them in late and still receive credit. This caused me to really learn how to use my time more wisely and not give up any extra time that I have. It also gave me a much better perspective on what working with an online teacher is really about. I know that next year I will be taking more college classes on line so this class helped me to know what I will need to do for next year.
Within society, there are many occupations to explore and chose. The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) results showed that my personal career strengths fall under the area of teaching and counseling. Currently, as a school counselor for a high school in Duncanville, Texas, a suburb outside of Dallas, I find the results of the assessment to be very accurate. Making the decision to become a counselor is a rewarding and exciting career choice. In the world of counsling, there are many individuals who place emphasis on not just basic implications, but also on theoretical studies that usually are a part of
So being a National Honor Society student, the last couple of years I’ve loved finishing ways I can help my community. I’ve always loved doing little things to help someone who needs it Community service to me, is more than just holding the door open for someone, picking up trash, or helping someone with their groceries. I want to help people grow and be a better person while serving my community. I’m glad I do more than volunteer, I try to impact the lives of people and I feel that is what I have
My ultimate career goal is to become a physical therapist. I'd love to specialize in gerontology as I enjoy working with the elderly. Primarily, my interest in becoming a physical therapist is driven by my desire to work with those who are disabled or aging in an effort to help them achieve their own specific goals for rehabilitation. Originally I had wanted to become a medical doctor, and although I am still considering it, my experience shadowing a physical therapist was fascinating and I really resonated with what they did throughout the day.
My grandfather taught me the importance of making a difference in the lives of others. Subsequently, he declared that each day provides another opportunity to make a difference, and I should never sleep until I have generated a difference for someone that day. My high school organizational memberships have bestowed many opportunities to enrich the lives of others. The Caring Cats motto is “helping to make school a better place.” As I am an actively involved member of this organization, I volunteer for the Special Olympics competitions that are held at our school’s campus. Special Olympics provide opportunities for youth to achieve success; unfortunately for some, it is first time success is known. Consequently, I deem it necessary for me to
Hi, I am Leanna and this is my second year at BCC. I am not sure yet on what I want to major in or what type of career I would like to pursue in. I am leaning towards psychology or nursing. However, I really enjoy history, mostly ancient Greek and Egyptian mythology. Right now, I am just taking several GED classes that relate to psychology, nursing, and history. Family, reading books, and watching movies are very important to me. Friends always seem to come and go, but my large family has always been a constant. I love to read and watch movies because they allow me to escape the pressures of the outside world for a few hours. I decided to take this class because I realized I do not know much about other religions except for the one I was raised
MY Goals I have a lot of goals that I want to get before I die. So a couple of them is to graduate and go onto college, the job I want to get to is a nurse, and my final goal that I’m going to be telling you about is personal to me I want to be someone that people look up and when in need of help they come to me. So my first goal is to graduate high school.
I have many goals in life such as to have a good strong career and family. What is important to me is graduating Central high school and go on to UND. While at UND I plan to get my nursing degree and specialize in pediatrics and truama. I have
