2.1 Agreeableness
One of the Big 5 personality traits is agreeableness. According to Lewis R. Goldberg (1993), agreeableness is a social trait and also a reflection of different individuals in concerning social harmony. Individuals who have higher level of agreeableness tend to get along with others more and easier involve themselves socially. The personality characteristics include helpful, considerate, kind, trustworthy, sympathetic, soft-hearted, good-natured, generous, lenient and willing to compromise their interest with others. He presents motivational speeches worldwide such as Malaysia, USA, Australia and more. According to his official website, “Life Without Limbs” (2011), Nick had provided motivational speeches to more than 3 million people in over 54 countries and now still counting. He speaks to different audiences such as students, teachers, kids, business man, and teenagers and so on using different languages if needed. Nick travels over to so many countries just to help people to find their direction and self-identity back to those who got lost in life. Although travelling may create stress and tiredness but these did not stop his will of spreading the hopes to others. His life story deeply touched people’s heart as he willingly shares his life story to others even it may be a hard task for him to recall his unpleasant memories during a presentation. People did ask him how he can manage to live happily despite having no limbs. He replies ‘I have a choice. I can be angry about not having limbs, or I can be thankful that I have a purpose. Authors in many instances use the main elements in the story such as setting and narrative to prove a point in the story. For example, writers often use characters, their actions, and their interaction with other characters to support or prove a theme. In the short story “Our Thirteenth Summer”, Barry Callaghan effectively uses characters to develop the theme that childhood is fragile and easily influenced. One of the ways that Callaghan makes effective use of characters to develop the theme is by describing the tension between Bobbie and his parents. This usage of characters supports the theme because Bobbie’s childhood is no longer free to do what he wishes, but has to bow down to his parents’
Each of these components have personality traits that are associated with them. Extraversion refers to the degree in which a person is active, energetic, talkative, and assertive. Openness refers to the degree in which a person is imaginative, independent, and prefers variety. Agreeableness depends on the individual’s level of compassion, trust, and good nature. Conscientiousness is the extent to which a person is organized, careful, and responsible. Lastly, neuroticism relates to a person’s emotional stability and negative emotions. If you experience this, you score higher in neuroticism. I personally took a survey on the Big Five and I would have to say that I agree with the results for the most part. The only component I disagreed with was openness because it put me in the 6th percentile. I think this is a little low, but not too far off. It is said that results in these five factors can vary based on culture.

Peter Van Daan is a 16 year old boy in hiding. Him and his parents are staying with another family with 2 daughters. Both families are Jewish. The Franks are a kind family, rather than the Van Daan family is a little more salty. The family's are living above and office building. One night, the families were celebrating the start of the D-Day Invasion. They hear someone running on the streets below. Perhaps a thief they guessed. It all started on May 23rd, 2003 Niko Smith was born on this day. He has a big brother named Seth and his big sister’s name is Maddie. His parents are Brad and Joan Smith and they expect great things from him. Niko has had his bad days but really good days too. Most of all Niko has had the greatest family that anyone could ever have. He has siblings that will look out for him no matter how much they fight. His mom works to her heart’s content to make her family happy, and his dad makes sure to keep his family in order. This is how Niko’s life has played out in thirteen years.

Tyler Dzendzel’s personality is calm but sometimes to calm.Only 16 years old and Tyler is a very mysterious person, he is a junior in Hempfield Area HIgh School. He has been attending Hempfield for 3 years but only this year did i meet him.It is funny how one could pass someone for 2 years without running into them. While interviewing Tyler, I learned many interesting things about his family life,school activities, and personality traits and hobbies.
They don’t call it ‘confined to a wheelchair’ for nothing. As part of his non-profit, Jeremy also raises funds to buy adapted sporting equipment like hand control bicycles and adapted ski chairs. Jeremy says that he’s trained himself to pull through the bad days by thinking about the incredible people he’s met on his journey— people who’s challenges far surpass his own. This helps Jeremy feel thankful for all he does have.

The Five Factor Model or Big Five model developed by McCrae and Costa factor together personality traits into 5 major categories. Those factors were Neuroticism (worried insecure, nervous, highly strung), Extraversion (Sociable, talkative, fun-loving, affectionate), Openness (Original, independent, creative, daring), Agreeableness (Good-natured, softhearted, trusting, courteous), and Conscientiousness (Careful, reliable, hardworking, organized).
