Artists enter as the person they’ve always been and make their public debut as a fabricated alias with pink hair and bad publicity. In the early 2000’s when music piracy became a fad to be reckoned with, labels began thinking of ways to keep album sales up. Instead of enhancing the musical creativity of their artists, it became easier to dwell on the negative aspects of their personalities. While I’m not personally a fan of all of these artists, it’s important to give credit where it’s due.

No one can say there is anyone like her on the charts right now, and there wasn’t anyone before her either. Before Nicki came into her persona in 2009, female rappers fought the urge to be feminine. They tried to keep up with the makes in their genre and stay tough against the harsh criticisms that came their way. But Nicki found a way to bridge the gap between Destiny’s Child and Missy Elliot. She worked to create a segmentation of her own. Hitting the charts hard with Pink Friday and introducing a third alias known as Roman, Nicki was able to peak the interest of those who hadn’t heard of her before, but her reputation was at stake. The negative comments came with just as much urge as the positive ones and soon her true identity of Onika was hidden under a thousand masks and costumes. People lost sight of the fact however, that a female rapper was bringing more attention to the game then some men who had been around for years like Lil Wayne and Drake (who both later collabed with her on multiple tracks). It’s okay for men to rap about alcohol, drugs and women, but for some reason when she did it – people got concerned. Furthermore, she is one of the most successful black women in entertainment branching out into other types of music, music production, acting, and hosting talk shows. Latifah’s hip-hop song called “U.N.I.T.Y” earned her, her first Grammy Award (genius.com).

Dinahlee Martinez has a loving personality. She puts others before herself and makes sure everyone around her is well. She is funny, outgoing and can be sensitive at times. For the amount of time we have live with her, we seen how a good of a mother she is. She never gives up on us. She continues to push us in every way. She currently lives in Bloomfield, New Jersey. When she is hungry and wants food from the cafeteria in the student union building, she gets oreo ice-cream and a cheese burger, sometimes even two cheeseburgers. Her mother, Noelia, makes good empanadas and she loves them as well.
On October 3, 1984, Christine Jessop was reported missing by her parents. Munguia went to Ironwood High School where she joined the high school Varsity soccer team, while she was taking classes in dance. For several years, she had to deal with having braces and working at payless, and now is dealing with wearing glasses due to her astigmatism. Throughout her life Munguia always wanted to be a veterinarian and so she graduated high school in 2015 and now is currently on track to meeting her career goals. In 2017 at a high school gym you could walk in and see girls and playing sports such as basketball, volleyball, tennis etc. But back in the 1960s you weren't able to see girls playing those sports in a high school gym. Not not only because they they weren't interested, it's because they weren't able to play by the law of women's rights.

Emily Grierson was found dead in her Jefferson County home in Mississippi four years ago. Originally, her death was classified as natural cause, but now, it has been determined her death was a Homicide. Overwhelmed may they have been, the day of her funeral, when police also investigated the death of a man reported missing from New York City several years prior, Homer Barron. Ms. Grierson came from a well off family as she was the heirs over her late father’s estate. She was quiet and distant after the passing of her father, but her house itself was a nuisance to the community. But, was that enough for someone to kill her?
Diana Nyad is well known for swimming from Cuba to Florida without a shark cage; her experience can teach others to see the world and themselves in a whole new perspective. Although she accomplished her goal, it took Nyad a total of five attempts in order to successfully swim from Cuba to Florida. Her fifth and final attempt to make this journey took her approximately fifty-three hours. The distance was over 110 miles, which broke the world record for the distance swam without the protection of a shark cage. Even though Nyad went through hard times during her expedition, she never gave up on herself. Her experience plays a large role in not only how people see the world, but the way they see themselves too.
On September 14, 2002 a beautiful little angel named Alexa Michelle Nawrocki was born. Her first year of life was healthy, but when Alexa turned 17 months she began to develop a cold along with a low-grade fever. Within a couple of days, her cold disappeared. However the fever worsened, and upon examination at the Doctors office a mass on her kidney was discovered. She was taken straight to the emergency room and it was advised they she receive a stage IV Neuroblastoma (the cancer had reached her bones, bone marrow, and into her lungs and liver).
