SONG: people are strange Lyrics TITLE: A Strange Day in July by Sherman Alexie This short story is about twins who are weird and are unlike any other kids. The love pulling pranks on people. One day they decide to become triplets. They take an empty dress and give it a name. They take it to school and while writing an answer of the board they start a chant and run out of school and to a lake. At this lake the dress comes alive and throws rocks at them. The song applies to the story because the song is weird and the kids are very weird. It also talks about how people are strange and not normal. The author does a good job of establishing that the kids are strange and weird, however, I think the twist with the dress at the end is an interesting
This inspiring song is appealing through its overall sound and message. It addresses issues of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960’s, which is also a prominent issue and theme in The Secret Life of Bees. Specifically, Rosaleen and Zachary Taylor experience the violent effects of the Civil Rights Movement (and the fight against it) in the book. The song’s basic meaning is that in America, a change for equality and love will soon be made for blacks across the nation. This song had a large cultural impact on America, and I believe it still does today. It serves as a sort of “fight song” or anthem of hope for black people across the nation. This song also applies to Lily’s story in The Secret Life of Bees. She experiences many tough times in Sylvan, living with T. Ray, her father. T. Ray often abuses and mistreats her, likely a direct effect of Deborah, his former wife and Lily’s dead
this song resembles how Romeo was meant to be with Juliet.“this woman is my destiny”. This is telling us that he is not giving up because they were “born to be together”.This song has a theme of love vs. infatuation and has a motif of fate/free will. Also, the conflict is whether or not it is true love, but as in Romeo and Juliet they know it is from first sight.
My story has a meaningful story behind it. The story is deep for me and even for the artist and probably for many other people. Hearing songs like this can inspire you. It inspired me to be thankful for the people in my life. One day they can be here the next they could be gone. You never know what’s going on in their lives.
Both the song lyrics and the video have a core ethos that they share. The trend of ethos in the video is somewhat more noticeable than the ethos in the song because of the visuals provided, but still just as complex. Whereas in the song the writer is simply stating that he wishes he could turn back time, in the video, he brings the audience back in time with him to see the things that he experienced as a child.
The title of the song itself gives the viewer the overall significant and direct theme of the piece right away. It urges a person to go beyond the surface of a circumstance almost saying as if to go into the root or origin of the matter. To find who a person really is at the core of their being. At the start of the song Mama Odie comes off as a non-judgmental person. “Don 't matter what you look like. Don 't matter what you wear. How many rings you got on your finger. We don 't care.” Being in front of her and don referring to her lack of sight,
Listening to the cover done by the Indigo Girls definitely gives the song a different meaning in my opinion. The song itself feels more upbeat and less angry. It sounds like when they sing it they are accepting the fact that these awful things are happening to them, and it’s not that big a deal. Furthermore, the Indigo girls are not of Native American heritage, so the song has less meaning coming from
To start off, I really enjoy the beat that Bryce uses on this track. This song features an upbeat rhythm, and the lyrics compliment the beat. The entire song is supposed to deliver a nostalgic feel to the listener. Throughout the song, He incorporates popular themes from his childhood into the lyrics, and the music video features these themes throughout. For me, I think the nostalgic theme works well with this song. It provides a happy, carefree feeling to the listener. When I listen to this song, it personally brings back feeling and memories from the summer I was shown it. Because of this, I believe the nostalgic theme of the song is a good fit. Another reason this is good music is because of the lyrics. These lyrics break away from the typical stereotype that is expected from rap/hip-hop music. It seems that recently, few popular songs have lyrics with meaning. Most feature lyrics that will appeal to the masses to sell the most records. This is where Bryce Vine differentiates himself from these artists. His lyrics share stories and experiences from his life, and are very personalized for the listener. I recently went to one of his concerts he had in East Lansing, and when he performed Sour Patch Kids, the entire crowd was singing along, and was brought together. This experience exemplifies what Bryce Vine’s music is all about; connecting people and delivering quality
So why would the band choose to illustrate such a serious stage of personal development with the nursery rhyme-like style of the song's chorus? Before we get to that, the song's emotional and psychological message must first be examined.
The poem “Making Sarah Cry” and the play “The Watsons Go to Birmingham” have a similar theme of being different. Even though they have the same theme, they show it different ways. For instance, the characters have a different influence on others. The theme in “Making Sarah Cry” is being different. This is the theme because in the poem, it said Sarah was not like the rest, she was slow and not smart.
With its rip roaring beat, tactical lyrics, and powerful message this song is the anthem that Spike Lee was aiming for. It gives context to the scenes and sets the mood for the rest of the film.
This song is all about a character who is sent to kill someone and goes through a lot on inner turmoil on whether or not to go through with it. During this song he tries to speak to Jesus about who he really is while stalling killing him. Pilate, being a military man knows that 40 lashes will kill a man. So while he still ends up wiping Jesus, which is what he was sent to do, he only does 39. I think that Pilate really feels for Jesus and in this song is truly doing everything in his power to try and help pick Jesus up so he can fight for himself. Unfortunately we know that in the end things don't go well for Jesus or Pilate. I think that this can be related to real life in the sense that some people are made out to be the bad guy even when they really aren't. However, if people don't make the effort to prove their innocence they are essentially out of luck. The overall theme of this musical as a whole can very much be related to every day life. And the fact that this show is based off of bible stories yet is still incredibly relevant is extremely interesting to
It was a very humid day in Las Vegas, Nevada. There were two really bad kid, and twins. Their names are jack and Mary. Jack and Mary don’t look alike at all. They are poor because there mom has never worked a day in her life.she drinks all of the time. Linda is really mean to Jack and Mary.
Not only does this set the mood for the song, but it starts to give the theme that it is okay to be different. In the second stanza is more about realizing you’re different and accepting it. Alessia Cara writes, “And we will leave the empty chairs / To
I chose this song because it is popular and would increase the audience the poem targeted. The audience affected the my changes because I knew that they would understand the meaning and reasoning of the decision I made for the changes from the song to poem. If the audience knows the song, the target audience does know the song, then they will understand the meaning of the poem right off. At this point, I and the poem have done its job.
Also, society wants girls to dress the certain way and she does not want to be like them. I picked this song because people always made fun of me for the way I dressed. This song helped me think that I don't need to care about everyone telling me what to wear and I should wear what I want to wear.
