The Nile shaped Egypt by influencing its geography, popular distribution, and settlements. The majority of settlements in Ancient Egypt were located around the Nile River Delta (Doc. A), where land was fertile, trade was good, and there were many natural resources. Because of geography in this civilization, Egyptians could easily protect and defend themselves, as well as settle down and have good lives.

The Mesoamerican and North American societies were more advanced than the Europeans thought. Agriculture and specialization were booming among the societies, which created surplus and merchandise. Before these advances in the indigenous societies, nomadic groups roamed the region and these groups had a lifestyle of migrating to areas where food was abundant. These groups were known as the Paleo-Indians, who which spread throughout the Americas, creating many culturally distinct societies. Some of these societies might have had the same language and appearance between them; however, their cultures were different and this was due to their environment. For instance, some of these societies had to experience a region that was not adequate for farming; therefore, they had to invent other ways to farm. Along with these inventions, the indigenous people were busy with other things. Pyramids were being built, trading was occurring between the different regions, calendars were being designed, and several writing systems were being created.

Egypt was seen as one of the most important river valley civilizations. Many historians argue that the Nile was the main source that helped Egypt be as successful as it was, because of it’s source of life. The Nile was shaped the entire Ancient Egyptian society from the beginning because of it’s usefulness to the Egyptians. The Nile River helped shape Ancient Egypt because it provided protection from invaders, jobs, trade, food supply, and had god like features.

The civilizations of early China, Nubia, the Eurasian steppes and the Celtic’s emerge from very different places for example the Nubians and the Celts came from very different environments with the Nubians being from a very hot place and the couch from a cold place with that being said these countries still had to develop a way to respond to the environment opportunities and challenges such as the lack of rainfall or the lack of fertile land.

2. The development of civilization in Nubia was spurred by the need for irrigated agriculture and by its trading relationship with Egypt. Nubian culture and Egyptian culture developed through a process of mutual influence and borrowing.

Ancient Egypt’s geography, especially the Nile River, greatly affected its population. The Nile River was and still is an extremely important source of many resources for its people. It can provide things like water, fertile soil, and transportation.It can also cause destruction and is dangerous. Since their lives depended on the Nile so much, the people of Egypt totally shaped their lives around it. Without it, they would not have been able to survive.

An ancient American civilization that predates the Aztecs and the Mayan is the Olmec civilization. The Olmecs influenced many civilizations throughout its life during the years 1200 - 400 B.C.E. The Olmecs architecture, agriculture, and culture influenced Mesoamerica and its influence can still be seen today. The Olmec civilization was located in the tropics of Mexico near the Gulf of Mexico. The Olmecs population grew to a surplus of crops. These crops were maize, beans, and squash. The harvest allowed the population to grow, and because of their location the Olmecs had fertile land which allowed farms and villages to develop. In the middle of the Olmec’s settlement was the city San Lorenzo. San Lorenzo had a population of 10,000 people. The

In the Continent of Cultures, it was stated how and why the first people reach to the Mesoamerica. Learning about the different people from Olmec to the Aztecs in the (Cultures of Ancient Mexico) on page four of the text. Each group had their significant of their tribe. In example the Olmec build big statues that weight a ton, so that is saying they were great at architectural work. The Maya was great at reading the sky, so they derived a calendar that new America took for our calendar. The Aztec was powerful people and great at trading. (In The Plenty of the Pacific Northwest) it states that this environment is very rich in natural things. They were able to use things from nature to make whatever they need such as red alder to carved bowls

In times before us modern day North Americans three big civilizations ruled in Central America, Mexico, and the West Coast of South America. The Aztecs in Mexico, The Maya in Central America, and The Inca in South America. These civilizations were very, very ahead of their time, inventing foods that we still eat today to entire sports, it’s quite impressive what they’ve done. Although the three may not be equal in power they were the three most powerful empires of that time.

Nubia, the 1,000-mile stretch of the Nile between Aswan and Khartoum, was a passage for trade connecting sub-Saharan Africa and Egypt. It was both a conduit for luxury items such as, ebony, and ivory and a good source of raw materials like gold and copper. The exchange of culture, ideas, and technology was significant during the periods when Egypt administered Nubia directly. After the eleventh century B.C.E. Egyptian control waned and the powerful native kingdoms based in Napata and Meroe emerged. Meroitic culture was marked by more powerful sub-Saharan influences. Meroe continued to be a crossroad for trade, as well as an important iron-smelting center. After the profitable Roman Empire trade was redirected to the Red Sea area, Meroe’s civilization

Nubians art and architecture is traced back hundreds of years. They urbanized one of the oldest and utmost civilizations in their region until they lost their last empire years ago. Nubia was a land of expected wealth and prosperity and Sudan had remained the main home of Nubians through their long history, but many live in Egypt today. Nubian art impacted Egyptian Art through their past art and architecture, one can see how glorious and influential these group of people were to the world.
